Just looked for directions to my favourite bar and google maps on my phone offers me $20 off using Uber to get there.
I checked from my laptop and it doesn't offer it from there.
EDIT I went through the ordering process and it works perfectly well. I'm not a new user. The discount gets applied.

I updated last night and it wasn't showing up, but it is there now. Give it some time if it doesn't show up.
Worked out that if you create a new Google account then download the maps app it will show up. Did it on the wife's phone. Didn't show up on my maps app after updating Uber and maps. Hope that helps someone.
Had the offer earlier.. Just went to go and try and use it, not there now. Tried adding the promo google manually and received "just for new users". gahh
So you use the 20 and you still have to pay 9!?!…which should get you some gumboots. Why not take the train to Caulfield then change lines and train to ormond. Or walk its only 2hrs 42mins walk.
I have it and am an existing Uber user. (Sydney). You need to click on the icon of the person hailing a cab. Just to be clear - it doesn't look like you can save this deal and use later. It looks like it is available for a limited time and you need to actually book from Google Maps and take the ride while the offer is available to get the credit applied.

I wasn't seeing the offer and app seemed to be up to date but I deleted the app, re-downloaded it and it showed up :)

Had to update both uber and maps. Originally didn't see the deal, but after leaving it overnight it came up.

How long can the credit sit on the account for?. And can it be used outside australia? :D

The wording has changed in google maps now. It says "sign up for Uber and get $20 off". Not sure if it's still valid for existing users now. Can someone validate?

I tried this Friday night on my phone and it said the get $20 off. On my GFs phone I did it a few hours later and it said sign up for $20 off.
Neither of us got the $20 off :(
Damn. Looks like it was a bug which they now have fixed. I thought it was too good to be true for Uber to be rewarding their existing customers. Something which I have never seen them do previously.
I e-mailed them and they couldn't see any existing google promos in my account so they asked me to provide a screenshot of what promo I was talking about and they refunded me my fare (since it was under $20) within like 5 minutes! :'D
