[Melb] Daily Metro Train Commuters - Claim 2xFree Daily Tickets

80

After another horrible Metro Train experience this morning… at least some of us might be elligible to claim something from them:

June service was bad, so customers who:
have in June used a monthly, six-monthly or yearly Metcard
OR
had a 28days or more Myki Pass used for at least 10 days in June
might be eligible for the free daily ticket/s for the equivalent zone/s.

so you've had a bad month of travel and they want to compensate by giving you 2 days of free travel …

thats what I was thinking. they sound just as bad as translink up in se qld.

  • WOW what a bargain… Is there a code?

FREE TRAVEL FOR EVERONE IN MELBOURNE ON FRIDAY

Mr Pakula said the compensation was expected to cost "something upwards of $1 million" and would be funded by the government and Metro.

Funded by the government aka using tax payer money :(

So Friday's attempt to "bail out" a public company (from the bad will) will be partly funded by the public of Victoria, including the customers who are furious …

"It will be my expectation that Metro share some of the financial pain," he said.

So … he offered up Friday's free travel, without checking if Metro is agreeable and funding to any extent?

Why on earth is he volunteering to use our money to cover … oh … to cover for a company who's poor performance reflects upon him personally as his department put the company there.

I think I just answered my own question. :(

      • because there's an election and thy think they can paper over all the cracks.

I had to laugh when an online edition of the Age mis-spelled his name as Martin Paluka…

So, have they fixed up the overcrowding on trains in Melbourne?

I'm wondering if this will help relieve the situation (don't have to buy tickets for one day) or if it'll make it worse (don't have to buy tickets but the trains might be so crowded you'll miss yours and be late again) …

    • From that Age page, 2 amusing comments

there's no-one in my work! maybe I can now get some work done without distraction….living and working in the city has got some advantages :)

Don't worry folks, Myki will pay for itself in no time and we can upgrade the system with the money it makes.

Husband couldn't get the card to read at the station yesterday am and lo and behold, check the account this morning and as well as the fare to the city (and later in the day, the return trip), it's ALSO charged him the default daily fare.

      hilarious, code is X-RTED

  • how do we claim the free tickets???

  • What an absolute joke Melbourne is for transport.

  • They are actually getting quicker in providing these tickets - it has only taken 2 weeks to get them last couple of times that I've claimed. It was taking up to 6 weeks earlier this year.

  • Twelve bucks worth of tickets will go down a treat for all those that missed work today because of the delays. Of course too bad if they were travelling on a daily, 2 hourly or weekly ticket.

    • i bought a monthly for the first time… i guess it was the right month to do it :)

is this really an ozbargain 'deal' though?

      • true it's iffy… it's an alert of a compensation entitlement.

However, these've been allowed through before, as it tends to benefit a lot of members and alerts them to value they can get, that they might not know about.

  • If you have a monthly you can always claim a free daily ticket if they haven't performed up to standards that month. they pretty much always fail most months…

  • The link now points to the free daily ticket due to Tuesday's disruptions.

Does anyone have a copy of the form to claim for the free 2 x daily tickets for not meeting the June SLA/targets?
