    • are these original controllers or copies?

      • +1

Original, don't think EB Games, a major company, will stock copies, replica or third party controllers for the NES Classic.

    • thanks dude, got myself a console and extra controller no problems at all.

    • +1

Thanks Bud- thought I'd missed out again. Just bought both

    • Cheers just grabbed it.

    • Thanks… Just put my order through

    • You are awesome! Managed to get one for my brother and a second controller for myself!

    • thanks for the heads up brah, ordered both from EB online.

  • +3

This is Nintendo's Modus operandi. Release some outdated shit, but highly restrict availability so the masses pay top dollar.

    • +3

      Same as Apple?

      • -1

I'm not a fanboy of any specific platform, but not really the same considering Nintendo's re-releasing 20 years old games..

    • It's not "shit".

      • +4

second that, love me some old school games. People that complain about other game consoles do my head in, seriously play on whatever platform you like without bashing others, you don't want to play a Nintendo console bc its too kiddy or whatever reason then good for you. Now to look up modding this thing with the games i want, won't have to bring out the original anymore.

        • Using original hardware is a million times better than the shitty emulation.

  • Anyone else concerned with how long eb has had it in stock? Either theyve got a lot - or somethings up

    • Maybe they finally got enough stock of it.

  • +6
    • Thank you, thank you. I finally have one of these damn things.

    • Cheers for this

    • Sold out now dude.

  • Can't order from target

  • DAMN MISSED IT

  • I tried placing an order at Target - website locked up, and target customer portal shows no such order but paypal emailed me saying successful payment so I had to call Target to let them know they'll need to issue a refund.

    • Never mind already mentioned above. Still available at EBGAMES.

  • yessss finally got one via EB, and spare controller!

  • +1

Where do you get the extra controller from? I already ordered from eb but wih no controller :(

    • +1

Try EB Games online. Still showing stock of the console and controller.

  • Now out of stock.

Can anyone recommend a retropie with games as an alternative? Keen to play some stuff in a couple of weeks.

    • +1

EB Games still has online stock. Just checked.

      • Ah thanks. But have to get it delivered :| No Pick Up :(

      • +1

That's definitely not a "real" NES.

        • to me this is real, back in 1990s this is the only type of nes in my hometown and it cost my parents 40 aud back then to buy one.

Strictly speaking this 99.95 nes is not a "real" nes either.

        • +2

No, but it's official Nintendo. The one you have linked is a famiclone. Famicom controllers didn't have four buttons.

        • +1

          @Hsinking:

Yeah it might be real to you, but your comment is misleading since it's not a real/original NES (no disrespect to you).

The Mini NES might be a remake/emulator, but it does a great job and the games look crisp and clear on modern HDTVs. Also, the included controller is basically a new original NES controller (although the cable length is crap).

      • +1

Nothing wrong with NES clones, they've been around for decades

But it'll look like shit on a HDTV.

      • At least it tries to clone the original for nostalgia. I'd rather the proper look over being able to say it's genuine Nintendo. Cos neither are any more genuine than the other if you're after NES nostalgia.

        • when this 99.95 nes was out of stock globly I wanted one desperately like others as well, when it is back to stock again I begin to feel the games inside is not what I truly expect. Just found a clone comes with 564 games for 40 aud, will order one of them instead.

      • +1

Good point above. The NES Classic is designed for HD tvs. It has HDMI out and a very sharp picture, along with a clean high res interface.

  • Least we know that there are more Nintendo fans than Sony and Microsoft ;)

  • Is it finally widely available? I pity all the people paying upwards of $300 last few months… glad I waited for the inevitable restock.

But IMO its probably better to save your 99$ towards the new Switch console next month which you could probably buy these old games on the E-Shop anyways…

    • +2

That was my thinking. I almost purchased one earlier from Target purely due to FOMO, but then stopped myself and walked away from the computer. I have way too many current and previous gen games to ever have time for this too.

I love old school, but I decided to keep the $99 in my pocket and put it towards a Nintendo Switch or the new Zelda Breath of the Wild.

      • Or sell it on ebay and use the cash to buy a switch :P

  • +1

At this point in time, retail is a bargain and seeing as though stock pops up for less than a day at a time. The last EB Batch was available for less than two hours, and there was no advertising that stock was even available.

Been watching this market daily since they were made available for pre-order. Cheapest these go for on Gumtree is $180. Facebook groups you are looking at $200+. Ebay… Don't even bother. People are stockpiling and demand is far outweighing supply.

If this isn't your thing, then fair enough, but "RRP is not a bargain" only applies when there is ample stock for everyone, which in the case of the Mini NES at this moment, there isn't.

    • retail is a bargain and seeing as though stock pops up for less than a day at a time

Really? This is the 3rd day in a row stock has popped up. Big W, Target and EB. To me the last 3 days show stock availability is increasing.

We shouldn't be comparing to private sales. We should be comparing with retail.

      • What are you talking about? Three days in a row.
The last deal (Big W) was 3 days ago and it was limited to certain locations.
The only other deal was the Catch Of The Day which was limited to 180 units at a certain time.

        • +1

Yes 3. Let me break it down again

          Big W
Target - funny you forget this one as we are posting in the very deal
          EB Games restock

          3 in 3 days

        • @4agte:

All out of stock. COTD had stock for about 15 seconds.

      • And at the point these "deals" are listed, there is not retail stock available anywhere else. If there was and the stock was plentiful, I would agree with you. I don't see the harm in comparing to private sales when there are no retail sales.

From the perspective of a consumer wanting to purchase the item, I'd be appreciative of people alerting me about a price lower than was available elsewhere, regardless of the channel.

        • 3 deals in 3 days. No stock anywhere doesn't fly anymore.

        • +4

Bargains are measured on current availability, not prior availability.

At the time this deal went up, there was no Big W stock available, and the EB restock wasn't published. There is still no Big W stock availability, Target has sold out, and it's unclear how much more stock EB has. The EB sale hasn't been promoted either. It's also not clear how many more restocks are coming, if at all.

Everybody else seems to be able to grasp this concept but nobody else is being condescending in their disagreement.

Edit: EB has now also sold out. There is currently no stock availability at any major retailers.

  • None in store either.

  • +2

I think people have gone FOMO or following the hype and are buying these. There can't be that many old school players.. I setup my RPI with RetroPie and I've spent maybe an hour at most reliving the good old days..

    • Broden's probably buying most of them. I mean as people like to keep saying they seem to actually be selling for a decent amount on eBay.
I wouldn't be surprised if half of the demand is the same speculation demand like with houses. Go flip those NES's! :P

  • -1

was the target or eb games special advertised anywhere?

    • No, word of mouth only. Much better route than COTD imo.

  • +1

just was able to order a mini & a extra controller from eb games. happy happy joy joy. been waiting since 1st released.

  • Checked ebGames a couple hours ago and the estimated postage date was 5 days. Just checked again and the esimated delivery date is 15 February (12 days).

Are they taking "pre-orders" before stock is available to deliver?

    • Sounds likely. Either that or they just keep everyone's money for a few weeks and then cancel the order due to stock running out.

    • +1

Just got an email from eb saying my console and controller have been shipped from this morning's purchase. So not a pre-order :)

  • +4

I just wanted to say thanks for the post Axelstrife without your post I WOULD STILL BE WAITING . I wanted this game when I was a kid but could not afford. I missed the release November and all the others in between and I was not paying twice or more for it. So to those who are complaining that it is not a bargain, to many of us it is because we don`t want to pay double on ebay.

  • I actually just want to know if the controller feels the same as the original?

  • +2

Guys guys guys….this IS a bargain - compared to its original 1985 RRP of US$199-$249

    • Now that is a bit of impressive (low)depreciation rate by technology standards hehe

  • looks like ebgames have sold out

  • +1

Guys Ebgames is still having NES Mini Controller
    https://www.ebgames.com.au/wiiu-217650-NES-Classic-Mini-Cont…

  • It's a joke comparing this to some crappy emulator,

People bragging that they can do much more on their piece of crap machine when they can't get their hands on this.

I'm more of a Super Nintendo guy so I'll wait for a mini version, but those with an emulator - stick it.

    • "I can do this and that with my pi"

      cool story

  • +1

EBgames back in stock of NES Classic this morning…

  • +1

Ordered at 7am, seem to be sold out again at EB at 9:15am

  • Yup, got a console and controller from EB.

    Coming on Tuesday :D

    • Do EB Post from Sydney?

      • To Sydney or from Sydney?

        I'm in Melbourne.

  • Why wouldn't they release every game ever made that they have the licence for? It would take up a few more KB on the ROM, even if they charge more for it.

    • Because money.

    • Can hack it to have every NES game on it anyway

Normal price (RRP) is $99.95 technically.

        Nintendo site

Relive the 80s when the Nintendo Classic Mini: Nintendo Entertainment System, launches in stores on November 10 at a suggested retail price of AU$99.95.

        • +2

          So technically this is a 0.95% discount…

Should sell out pretty quickly then…

    • +1

      [insert snarky RRP comment here]

    • Niice, thanks OP. I managed to finally score one. The mod scene for it is maturing nicely as well so the timing is great.

    • In before "this is RRP".

Got one, if I don't want it I'll sell it or just return it. Can anyone tell me why I would want two controllers?

Just in case you have friends some day. 😝
