  • I went to nepal in 2010 and did the EBC trek. Please support the locals however…

Tea houses were 100/200 rupees per night. This does not include food. The real cost of your stay is food. Food is about 1500 rupees to 2000 rupees.

Flights to and from Kathmandu to Lukla was about 300 return.

A local guide was about 25 USD. A porter is abour 10-15.

Keep in mind. If you chose to do it in a group, there is a schedule to be met. I have heard, people being left behind or send down the mountain if they suffer from altitude sickness while on the trek.

If you chose to go in your own group, you can delay climbing higher by staying at a lower altitude. This helps you aclimatise. Therefore, being able to complete the hike.

EBC didn't give me the wow factor. When I got there, it felt it was just a tick in the box to be there.

I would recommend going to EBC via Gokyo lake. That was the highlight. Also, khumbu glacier was amazing.

  • Thanks for the Nepal trek info and request to support locals. Nepal really need tourism to recover from the devastating earthquake of April 2015. Tourism is slowly picking up and getting to normal. This is right time to visit Nepal as the trekking trails are not crowded with tourists.

Everest and Annapurna are the most popular trekking region that remains busy during peak tourist season. But there are many other pristine remote treks those are now possible to do teahouse treks like Manaslu circuit, Makalu base camp etc. Mardi Himal is pristine trek in Annapurna opened only in 2013.

Teahouse trek is cheaper and executes the ethics of sustainable tourism as money goes to local lodges. Many regions are monitored bu conservation projects to make sure the tourism there is environment friendly.

Regarding the altitude sickness, the itineraries are designed to have extra rest days where ever needed and altitude of the camps are set to let body acclimatize before going to the highest points. Responsible trek / tour companies send good enough porters and assistant guide in case of people getting sick. Guides are well trained and experienced to recognize developing symptoms and to tackle with that.
Preparedness and good communication is important to prepare trekkers for particular trek. Adventure is adventure because of challenge involved which gives goal to people. Good stamina is always helpful to enjoy the trek in the Himalayas.

  • Do you remember the basics of a maximum of 700m up a day after certain altitude? Sorry but I have to say that your deal is not correct.

  • @OP, got any trips for Everest Base Camp?

    • $1200 each person. From the tour guide who went with me to Poonhill. That price will include everything except fly ticket to Nepal

    • Hello there !

Since Everest base camp is a teahouse trek, it could be organized for any group size and any date. Cost is very little effected by the group size. Everest base camp trek is 13 nights 14 days from Kathmandu to Kathmandu. If you are fairly fit you can do in it 12 - 13 days as well.

  • Off topic: do u provide cheap 2way flights to Nepal?

    • Flight price changes all the time. It is cheaper these days to compare and book online directly.

By the sounds of things this company isnt leading anyone. Sherpas would be hired as during peak seasons 100s of sherpas are doing trips.

Unless the OP can provide photos of previous expeditions this should be deleted.

I went to Nepal on Jan 2017 and got a great deal for $275 each person including transport (2 ways) from Kathmandu to Pokhara and Baktarpur, city tour at Kathamnadu + Bartarpur, 4 days trip to Poonhill + foods and accomodation + pickup and drop off at airport as well

    • Sounds like really great deal. I hope the company involved paid all the heritage site entrance fees, issued conservation permits and TIMS (for safety of staffs). Please consider sustainable tourism issues and responsible tourism that will support local economy.

      • Of course, they paid everything. They gave me a list of everything i will got and how much is it. Then i can add or minus the thingsthat I don't want.
