Lol didn't even bother looking at price or console first thing I saw black ops 2 in my mind first thing I thought it became backward compatible with Xbox one :(

Not a bad deal though :)

  • Not bad.

  • +6

If you think about it, this is a great deal. The 500gb hdd is worth a bit as is the controller…. and sell the two games…

    • -3

      lol

      • is that a yes or no, Tony?

        • +11

with all due respect, do you not have internet? can you not find out yourself about Xbox backward compatiblity?

        • +1

i think about 350 games are back compat atm, they add more each week

        • -5

          @tonyjzx: Internet? Wuts dat?

  • +20

this is a better deal than the megadrive one that everyone upvoted imo

    • +2

the problem is microsoft have effectively made 360 ownership redundant by making BC widespread and in many cases, BETTER than on the real 360

also expect 360 development to tail off, if it hasnt already stopped

also then, even if there is a 360 version why play it when a Xbox One or PS4 version exists

there's a reason these are $99 and people arent snapping them up even though there's a lot of actual hardware that you get

      • +2

Sadly, x360 kinect range of titles seems so much better than x1. That's the main reason I'm looking at this.

        • +1

fru is pretty cool, i also had a laugh with kung fu kinect

      • +2

I still own both 360 and one. i will still hold on to my 360 until everything i want is Backwards compatible

  • +6

It's worth it if you missed the entire last generation of consoles and are prepared to install the xkey.

I've done similar with the 3ds instead of getting a switch.
30years of nintendo games to catch up on now.

    • -3

Is there any guides about xkey? from what i can see you need extra hardware for the slim model?

  • "Your delivery postcode (6069) is different to the postcode we used (2000) to calculate the shipping costs - the shipping costs have now been updated."

Really wish there was some ps3 deals like this but it seems they're discontinued already.

    • Same here.
I'd love to be able play demon souls

    • Agreed i am just getting into the yakuza series on ps4 and would like to grab a ps3 and play some of the earlier titles.

  • does anyone still own a working original Xbox 360 from 2005? so many of them succumb to the RRoD, including mine. i can still remember being there on launch night way back then, the hype for that console was crazy. i'd love to track down one of the Xbox 360 Pro's, just for the nostalgia. what i wouldn't give to see that old Blade dashboard again haha

    • Yup have one. Still works although I hardly turn it on these days. Have a backup slim in case it does to play my older games not yet backward compatible

    • +1

Yes, I've got an original 360, even used it last week.

    • Yeah but i had it fixed not long after i picked it up. Worked fine since.

    • 2006.. Jeez, where does the time go. Still works but sounds like a jet engine once it warms up.

    • Got one under my bed but it's RROD'd. Was thinking of buying one of those DIY repair kits on ebay for it. Maybe someday. Got a 360 Slim for my nostalgia needs, but backward compatibility has been awesome for me so don't use it much.

      • +2

Try smacking it real hard next to the disk drive before you pay money. Surprising how often this works.

        • +3

I believe the term you're looking for is "technical tap".

I learnt that from a Navy engineer during work experience.

        • +2

@toasty: If that fails, use a bigger hammer!

        • Wow are you serious, that's nuts. Nice.

I don't really know why I still have it, I've thought about throwing it out so much but end up keeping it just in case I want to mod it.

    • +2

This is an upgrade for me. Im still on first gen.

    • +1

Yep. Mine is still going strong. It's an outstanding console. I had the rrod but had the board changed to a jasper and never had a single hiccup. Fantastic library of games too.

    • Wow I was a much younger man when I bought the original or launch
After 4 times sending it back to Microsoft, they must have finally got it right and it's going strong, Although I haven't turned it on for a while.
Maybe I will buy this as I have a fairly large 360 collection and never had HDMI on the original 360…
I know my xbone has some BC but I don't like having to download the whole game on my xbone…
Who knows, I might look back in another 12 years and want to play my games again…

    • did you know that if you've got a RGH'd or JTAG'd 360, you can run the old dash on it? i tried it for a bit but too many games complained

    • Launch Pro here, still going strong.

HDMI be damned, too - It's hooked up via the official VGA cable. :P

  • Yeah I still have an original 20 gig model it was sent back to fix rrod a few years back works fine and my daughter still plays it a bit.

  • Damn. Would have picked this up if I didn't buy a new 360 last year for $180. Still, had a lot of fun on this console. Already got a gaming PC so my focus was on picking up games not available on the PC.

    • I have 5 words for you - Bundle Stars, Indie Gala, Humble. (oops misread, though you said games for the PC - master race bias).

  • Thanks, got one. Have a family member still using an original style, falcon 360 daily. Will keep as a spare when it inevitably dies.

    • How dare you, I still have a working 2007 model 360, been boxmodded, painted and HDD replaceed (HDD Didn't die) that probably has 8-10k hours on it.. Still chugging along strong ^_^

      • Someone stole my Elite model (which was sturdy as), I went through 3 slims after that, then took everything xbox to EB and did the biggest trade in the boy at the register had ever seen (he took a photo for his FB). It was enough for 2 3DS XL's and 2 copies each of New Leaf and Monster Hunter.

        • 3 slims died? You aren't very lucky.

        • @wolfenator87: I don't think they like being on all day like the Elite did.

        • I honestly think the build quality was better at the start of production for the 360's. Well, atleast, red rings started to become much more prevalent in newer models.

  • Is this particular model compatible with the xkey?

    • Yep, has the correct Mobo.

  • mmmmm old console

  • +1

    Amazingly good deal! Very cheap!

  • +12

For those who don't want to pay the extra postage fee, just go into your local EB and ask them to order it via the free ship to home method. They place the order for you via their system and it gets shipped from the warehouse to your door free of charge. Some stores advertise it and some don't but they all offer it. Great for larger items like this or anything that you don't want to pay postage on that your local store hasn't got in stock.

    • This I needed to know. Thanks :)

  • -4

Get this for retro gaming adults, but if you try to give this to your kid in place of an Xbone, they will have that sad face where they try and look grateful, but are devo, so please, for the children, don't do it!

    • +5

You haven't seen my kid on an Xbox 360.

        • -3

Since I'm not much good with a soldering iron I can't whittle up an Xbox clone. So this is more like Big Mac vs Quarter Pounder, except my kid ordered the Quarter Pounder and isn't crying and complaining.

Eddie Murphy is funny though. And Microsoft, MacDonalds….both start with M, are American and serve you up crap that's no good for you which is nothing like the product on the Ad.

        • @syousef: I was only saying don't try and give it in place of an Xbone. If they want an Xbone and you get a 360, they won't be able to play the latest games and will not be "stoked".

        • @stormii:

Really depends on the kid and why they want the XBone. If it's to play specific games with friends a 360 is going to be no use to them.

        • +1

@syousef: I try to type the words you need to understand my message … I lose.

        • -2

          @stormii:

I try to discuss on Internet but people prefer to make it confrontational. We all lose.

        • +2

@syousef: If you found any of this confrontational, i will send you a free cup of cement.

        • -1

          @stormii:

If you thought any of that was pleasant you may be entitled to free counselling.

        • +1

@syousef: Yo, counselling is worth a bundle, you should post the link if you know where to get it for free, I will upvote it ;)
I do not understand why having an adverse opinion needs to be "confrontational" or "unpleasant", debate is healthy, and if you are not up for the task, lurking is an option.

        • @stormii:

          "Debate is healthy."

          OR

"I try to type the words you need to understand my message … I lose."

          Pick one!

Hint: The second adds nothing to the "debate" and isn't "healthy". Implying someone is obtuse does not promote conversation. Capeesh?

You fail to present a consistent point of view. Perhaps if you can't do that it is you that should lurk.

        • @syousef: If you were in front of me, and this passively cranky, I would probably hug you. I obviously picked the I lose the debate one didn't I? Because I failed to get my point across.

      • +1

My kids love the 360. They only playing motocross and racing games mostly. They dont care about the graphics. The only fighting is done over who gets the 360 or the ps3.

Sometimes theyre just happy throwing youtube or netflix on.

        • +1

We have two 360's which have become dedicated Minecraft and Terraria machines. I wish the kids would go for a racing game once in a while.

  • Want this but not the games. Can anyone tell me what they're worth to sell?

    • +1

Unless Black Ops II becomes backward compatible in the next month or so, don't hold your breath for anything over $20. And I think that's pushing it.

People struggling to sell Ghosts on eBay for $10. :p

      • +1

Cheers. Appreciate the info :) just trying to justify another console!

  • -3

This is like owning an iPhone 7 and buying an iPhone 4

    • I would of said iPhone six. iPhone 4 would be an Atari 2600 in my books.

  • +1

Is it a crazy idea to buy one and not open it as an investment? Can't help but think an unopened console from the nineties would be worth hundreds??

    • +1

      Pretty slow appreciation.

    • Interesting idea, but don't forget to factor the future value of money into your calculations.

If you think in 20 years this virgin Xbox 360 will be worth more than what you'd get if you put your money into another investment, then go for it. I'd guess that a mint condition original is more likely to be a collectors item.

Also, don't do it if you can pay off your mortgage instead.

    • Xbox hardware isn't really a good investment when it's not a LE console

    • There is a good reason a N64 is valuable, but you can get a PS1 for $20. You invest in quality products. N64's don't fail often (if at all), xboxes have the fabled RROD, therefore, not only will you need to wait 20 years, but it may not be worth bubcus, if you going to get an old xbox for a collection, I would go with the Elite or another solid build.

  • +1

This is a great deal for those who are yet to own a console like this.
Not only because of the actual price for a new unit + 2 games, but because this will de-value the current ebay/gumtree advertisements for these consoles.
Sucks if you are trying to sell your 360 as it's just taken ~40% off an acceptable price but if you're looking for a cheap console for a bit of fun, now is a good time.

    • +2

      Agreed.

I recently bought my first PS3 off gumtree for my son as he was running out of games on the PS2 (yes that's right). Kids that age don't care about graphics, it's all gameplay. I paid $120 for the console that's 5+ years old, 15 odd games and two original sixaxis controllers. Plus it came with a game I have been waiting to play for the past 7 years.

I've never had an xbox but it seems games are slightly cheaper than the ps variants, second hand at least. I was considering this deal in the morning but I think I'll pass.

      • As mentioned, the de-valuing this will bring to the current console second hand market is huge.
Your typical xbox 360 with 10+ games second hand will fetch rock bottom prices on gumtree/ebay and move even further away from PS3.
Perfect time if you've got 8-12yo kids who as you said are all about gameplay and fun (kitect etc) rather than the latest graphics.

        • It is a perfect "grandparent" buy, just to have a console for the grandkiddies, having a console as opposed to no console is always good.

  • -3

Hey have the 4GB for $99 might be better value if you dont like the two games offered ? www.ebgames.com.au/xbox360-162922-4GB-Xbox-360-Console-Xbox-…

    • +2

Good deal same price less storage and no games /s

    • +1

You're kidding, right? Please tell me you are.

  • Great deal. My original red dot of death 4weeks ago and now i can watch Sony movies again.

  • I just want this so when my current 360 dies I can still play backwards compatible KOTOR. Yes I still own it on PC and tablet as well but I do enjoy the console version as well.
Wonder if xbone might be backwards backwards compatible one day?

  • Looks like a possible quantity error with this. Appears to be unlimited quantity with 2k+ clicks and still available. It's possible come Monday that most of the orders will be cancelled.

    • I find it funny when shopify handles stock better than techy type company like EB.

  • Picked one up as my current 360 feels like its near death. Freezes on occasion and im sure it will only get worse.

Got too many games that arent BC yet to give up my 360 entirely.

  • +1

I just signed in and now it's in-store only. :(

  • Oh no!
We do not have Xbox 360 500GB + 2 Games Console Bundle in stock, please select a store to PickUp from or remove the item from your cart.

  • The only store that appears to have stock is over 1000 kms away from me, Kingston Tasmania.

  • +1

If you're keen for the console itself and not too fussed about whether you get a game or not, they have another Xbox 360 E + 500GB hard drive + Forza Horizon 2 for $99.

    https://www.ebgames.com.au/xbox360-213976-500GB-Xbox-360-Sli…

That also is no longer available online, but your local store might have stock.

  • FFS local stock gone now where I am. Was gonna get one to use as TV box. Oh well.

  • +1

    can this be jailbreaking?

  • Just sold my xbox 360 - 250gb + kineck + gtaV + halo4 + adventures and scene it + 2x wireless controllers and charger for $140 as a comparison buying through gumtree.

  • There's so many old games still available at EB for this now cheap console.

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 still looks fanastic!

  • All gone unless you live near the middle of nowhere

  • +1

Thanks OP for posting as I just got shipping confirmation via email. Being a PlayStation man thought it a cheap way to get to play both series of Halo and Gears of War.

  • Thanks for sharing, I want a PS3 more thou because PS4 doesn't do backward compatibility!
