Pulled the trigger on the sound bar. hope it works well

Got one few weeks back for $197, unless you really want a wireless subwoofer I can't recommend it. Mids are muddy and highs are not crisp. A decent upgrade to your built-in TV speakers for sure, but there are better sounding 2.1 PC speakers out there for less. Only reason I got them was the wireless sub, but a little disappointed about the sound, because I think my $100 Logitec 2.1 PC speakers from 5 years ago sound better.

      • Thanks.

Maybe I was a little harsh with my previous comment, to clarify: for anyone after a “sound bar” with a digital/HDMI audio input you probably can’t find anything better than this for under $200. But if you want the best sound quality for your money, then a decent $150-$200 2.1 PC speaker system would provide better mids and highs due to having larger satellite speakers.

Logitech Z623 is highly recommended for this - it lacks HDMI, but if you have AUX audio out from your TV, these sound amazing (compared to a soundbar in the same price range) and can be had for around $100-130AUD on special.

        • @j33prong:

Agreed best speakers for the money! Too bad Logitech don't make an equivalent for tv

        • I'm planning to use this with my samsung TV and connect it with bluetooth. hope its works well with bluetooth

        • @j33prong: I plan on using my Logitech z623 so it's good to hear some positive comments.

        • Does this have CEC? Can I control the volume on the speaker using the TV remote?

    • Picked one of these up a few months back for $199 and can't complain, very impressed actually given the price

      • thanks

      • Hi, Can you tell me if it has HDMI arc input? Our TV only has HDMI arc or Coaxial output. The Good guys have a near complete lack of specs and Samsung says it has "AnyNet", whatever the hell that is?

        • No HDMI arc unfortunately.. I have mine setup with an optical cable

I got this soundbar to use with my Samsung 4k a couple of months back and I'm impressed by the sound.
Sure, I'd argue that it's not hifi quality but for your average household doing Netflix/Movies/Games it's perfect. I don't necessarily agree with the other comment saying the sound is muddy etc. Sound is subjective though.

    • Purchased also. Plan to use in the lounge room but if not good enough there will use in bedroom.

Soundbar looks mighty tempting. Anyone have any impressions of it? Specifically using it with KS8000 TV and/or PS4?

    • +3

Quite a bit of discussion here. Works well with any TV, surprisingly good value I think.

    • Lol, why does it need to be impressions specifically related to using it with a ps4 and "ks8000"? It's just a speaker dude.

Thanks OP, ordered the soundbar. Reviews look good!

  • No HDMI arc on the sound bar that I can see?

    • It uses optical s/pdif.

Ordered the sound bar for pick up. Previously purchased a Harmon kardon sb26 for $430 down from $900 from jb which sounds terrible. Could never hear the voices or anything. No Eq settings so it sucked. Hopefully this one will be good. Thanks op!

    • …wut?

      • sounds like somebody was missing a centre channel.

Sounds bars are supposed to be simple/idiot-proof to avoid all those config problems that plague surround systems.

        • -1

The sb26 is a sound bar. The voices were really low though. You'd turn the volume up high to hear the dialogue and then almost blow your windows out when an explosion went off. Terrible sound bar.

  • Just ordered! Thanks OP

  • I bought the sound bar when it was at 199 :( anyway it's pretty good for a small room. Really clear voice. Works wirelessly with Samsung TVs and has optical in and 3.5mm audio.

Also comes with an optical cable. Plus wall mounts! Which was really cool.

I also like how the subwoofer and the sound bar use exactly the same power brick (same voltages)

  • Also bit on the sound bar. Been waiting for a decent one to drop below $200.

  • so this isnt a HDMI soundbar?

Can anyone help me to compare with Yamaha YAS-106
    Missed the previous deal

    • Ahh, I would like to know this too. I'm in the market for one but hedging…

  • I would not go below the k550.
I compared k550 and ct790 and went the 790 much better system and more features.

Yes I know 790 is more expensive but it's a clearance and if your like me you can talk your ON but down to 455 then laughing.

    Seriously impressed with the sony…

    • Agree with mujen. I got the K550 and pretty happy with it. I bought the rear speakers for a surround sound but they don't support DTS 6 channels, only Dolby Digital. Thinking of changing them for ones that support DTS, most of the movies come with it.

The reason I chose this over the Sony CT790 was that this sound bar has a center speaker whereas the CT790 not.

  • Yes I really thought about that centre speaker for a long time in the end a soundie at work basically said in a soundbar the speakers are so close together doesn't really matter use your ears.

Either is a good bar the Samsung being 100 cheaper (if you can even find a ct790 under 500 good luck) so yeah great buy!

  • Tempted to pick up the Hisense 50K3110PW. Is it worth saving the extra money for the 50K3300UW? The 7 series seems a bit overkill for my needs.
Just looking for solid picture and non shitty build/ui more then anything.

  • Bought the sound bar. For that price I couldn't really resist.

    • Picked it up today. It sounds great. Super clear and great bass for movies. The remote and Bluetooth are solid. Having an optical cable included was a surprise.

      • +1

How long is the optical cable?

        • +1

It's tucked away behind my TV now but at a guess I'd say 1 meter.

  • Was the soundbar $52.74 for delivery earlier in the day? I thought I remembered delivery being free.

    • Delivery is $35.44, it might change once you login? It's been like that price all day, delivery prices seemed to change to $5 for a little while but then were changing back at checkout.

I bought it today and picked it up couple hours ago.. I love it!! It's great..

  • I really like this product and bought it at $199, I was hoping the companion SWA-8000S were covered by this deal.

  • I'm keen, i have the Samsung KS8000, anyone know if i can control the soundbar volume with both TV remotes?

    • You can if you connect via bluetooth.

  • Does anyone know when this deal ends? Is it tonight and what time?

    • Tomorrow at midnight.
