"TPG always ignore existing customers, I have to switch to other ISP"When I started out with them I had a 50Gb(25b+25Gb)quota and 64k shaping but now my quota is 130Gb(70Gb+60Gb) with 1Mbps shaping. Can't say that they have ignored existing customers, they just offer better deals to new customers, like many other businesses, especially banks, phew.
illumination on 20/08/2010 - 03:12 ¶I'm still considering this. I am actually still on the 50gb (25 peak + 25 offpeak) with 64k shaping that EarlyBird mentioned (s)he started off on. It's $50/month, + $10/month bundled with $49 Cap Saver mobile ($10 because I have not changed internet plan since then) + about $35ish for home phone.
Total = $95/monthAssuming I disconnect ($0, way past contract) and reconnect with either 6 month contract ($60) or 18 month contract ($0), I will probably get ADSL2+ with $1 home phone, so 180gb (90 peak + 90 offpeak) for $50/month + $10/month (minimum spend) + $15/month (mobile bundled) makes it $75/month.
Ok wow that is quite a saving. But I'm also considering Naked ADSL2+ with VoIP, but I've heard VoIP's line quality is a bit choppy.
Anyone know if it's possible to get Naked ADSL2+ but VoIP with another company? Just another consideration..

Why do you say they ignore existing customers?
Wasnt the case for me or any of my friends who are on TPG….
I've always been able to upgrade to better data plans whenever they released new plans keeping the monthly payment unchanged.
Their Technical support aint great. But for such low monthly rates, you cant really complain.
I;ve been with them for over 5 years and i've never had any downtime.
(Other than when i played around with the router ofcourse!)
illumination on 19/08/2010 - 20:19 ¶Still waiting to be able to change from old plans to plans like this =( but great deal. Unlimited local calls is wow.

Pizza The Hut on 20/08/2010 - 19:12 ¶probably the same as how telstra defines local calls.
Also of note, it's copper to the exchange using telstras line.

Stunning? I'm on a $89 Fusion plan at the moment, Unlimited nation calls and Optus mob calls but only 7gb of internet per month +uploads. It shapes to 64kbps which takes around 30 seconds per web page. There is another $89 with 12gb that charges something like $1 per 100 meg after.
I'm definitely reading into this TPG deal, isn't there going to be a new internet scheme the Gov is setting up?

+1 voteDon't go over that 20gb, and watch it like a hawk; the overuse charges are horrendous!!!
To be honest, depending on how long you've got left in contract…you might be better off financially to pay them their exhorbitant exit penalty & go for a cheaper ISP! ;)
I've seen overuse bills of $300+ on these, then when you add the $99+ for the plan it makes it a very expensive month for not a real lot of bandwidth! :o

I think even if it's a standard price, that doesn't mean it shouldn't be considered a 'deal'.
As for the fact that it hasn't been released yet, there are plenty of other things that get posted up here that only become available after the time of posting. That doesn't seem like a fair way to discriminate between things that are a 'deal' and things that aren't.
+3 votesDarn Telstra holding us all hostage in their exchanges! Let the others in so we get fair competition! TPG (and others) can't put any/more equipment in while Telstra tells them "Computer says No!" hence the limited coverage areas. (I wish both parties would support the separation of Telstra into wholesale/retail for the sake of fair competition and that's coming from a shareholder!)

Yep, couldn't agree more - I know people who can't even get ADSL, let alone ADSL2; all because Tel$tra won't open up a few more ports at an exchange! :o
You wanna know what the scumbag Tel$tra staff tell them…."you go get 100 people to sign up too and we'll consider it; it's up to you to do that" - I was flabbergasted when I heard that, told 'em to go straight to the TIO, that's woefully unacceptable!!! :(

cable broadband is great, your speed gets decreased for every other person using it, a friend on mine is on cable, all of his neighbours have swapped to DSL and he's getting insane speeds, but he's paying a lot for it …
meanwhile, i'm right on the 3km mark from the exchange, getting over 8mbps with DSL2, quite happy with that … i just dont like being with Adam …

Im sure by the now the Mods have seen this and have obviously OK'd it.
The release date has been announced in the OP and its been announced on Whirlpool too by the TPG Reps. What else do you need? A Rep to come personally to your house, sit you down and explain to you the wonderful world of TPG and how they can help you?
-1 voteOnce the release date comes and the deal ACTUALLY EXISTS, I would be more than happy to retract my neg and reassess the deal.
Currently, I cannot vote for a deal that is not there. How many times have we seen deals such as plans like these promised on forums but not crystallise? Based on this logic I could put up a deal that Harvey Norman will sell an Xbox 360 for less than $50 in 2013.
+2 votesillumination on 23/08/2010 - 18:54 ¶I don't agree, whiznet. I'm not saying you're wrong in that the rules state you should not post something until its inception, but rather that I believe this post is useful, and the rules in fact should be altered as such to allow deals which are SOON to be available be published. If anything, it's better that it's posted ahead of time. Posting a deal from Harvey Norman that's available in 2013 is totally unnecessary. There's so much time between now and then, so much can change. If you post it a few weeks in advance (like this), then it's ok. I know it wasn't supposed to be taken literally, but the point I am trying to make is that this was posted within a reasonable time frame prior to release date.
Reason I say this is because, think of this:
- Would you have known about it, had it not been posted here?
- Allows you to plan ahead of time. This definitely helped me. What if I was about to call TPG up to get them to sign me up to one of the existing plans, without knowing this was coming out soon? If this is my preferred plan, and it is so close to the release date, I would definitely be willing to wait.
- Similarly, what if you were going to buy a PS3 today for $350, only to find out that DSE were soon selling PS3s for $240 in 2 weeks? Many people would hold out and wait for it, wouldn't they?
- This was announced by a TPG rep. Sure, release date is only "expected", but with the competition around for current 1TB plans, you wouldn't expect them to release them a year late. You would indeed be expecting them to come out with something, and it is quite an official announcement, isn't it?Sure, the last point may just be an assumption, but I do think there is logic behind it.
Anyway, I reckon whiznet's negative vote should be dependent on what you truly think of what TPG is offering with this expected plan. As forkus has said, this has already been published here for a while. The mods here have had plenty of time to respond and remove this "non-existant" deal, and as yet, it hasn't been done.
kevinpentium on 23/08/2010 - 22:25 ¶I just signed on $59 last week with Home phone line rental. Can I upgrade to this plan?

Hi Guys,
Just be warned TPG came last in the Broad Band Survey of more then 20,000 people australia wide. Poor network performance if a very real problem.
There are even cheaper unlimited providers such as dodo, but unfortuntaly unlike same mode/make, you cant just shop on price with a service.
Cheers

good value for that amount of data.
