  • Interesting, $79 AUD is pretty cheap for a H264 USB / Networked media player.

Any reviews on this unit? How does it compare to the Astone AP200?

    • I have the Astone AP-300 that does streaming, NAS, etc. It was $89. Plus you can drop a SATA HDD into it if you want to turn it into a media tank.

      • Hi h4lcyon, where did you get the AP-300 for $89, that sounds like a great deal

  • Ive got an Astone. if you have wireless expect to be constantly rebooting the box to rejoin network.
This unit.. if works is good for the price and only $10 for wifi dongle

Just bite the bullet like I did and build a proper HTPC. best thing I ever did

    • Fair call. I went through the trouble of wiring up sockets in the wall between my router to the media player in the lounge so can't comment on the wireless performance.

  • make sure the power adaptor can handle 240v

  • Amlogic 8626H Chipset. If you are into high def materials (e.g. Blu-ray ISOs)… you might need to do some more research. I cannot seem to determine whether the chipset can decode VC-1.

  • Having bought stuff from there before, make sure you have a Aust/HK plug adaptor handy.

  • I'd guess this device is somewhat updated on the original Popcorn Hour and Western Digital HD (not networked) players though possibly the same chip.
Both of the aforementioned require DTS decoders.

They have in latest fimware enabled 1080p streaming & larger than 2gb size over network (Popcorn had this since Nov 2007). Sluggish in HD over wireless.

    • Got one a few days ago. HDMI video gone in a few hrs and no means to reset or change settings. Able to fix after many tries in blind navigation which was all support were able to suggest rather than send back which is just not on..

this device has advantage over more expensive units that its small and can do DTS into HDMI.

It has some unmentioned not to does.
