Nulon Full Synthetic 5W-30 Diesel Engine Oil - 10L $87.99 @ Autobarn

80

Hey fellow OzBargainers! First time post, be gentle, blah blah :P

As a Kia Sorento diesel owner, I'm very satisfied with my vehicle, and dissatisfied with anyone else's prices for something I can do myself (classic OzB mindset here). Thus the lookout for full synthetic diesel oils for my next service.

Having used this oil before, I was keeping my eye out for another 6L or more on special; then this popped up. Note that you can get the same oil for Supercheap here for $109.99.

SCA will now price-match competitor's sale prices (page 20 of the Easter catalogue) in contrast to their website T&Cs, interestingly enough. Dunno if I'd missed this before, or if it's new.

  • What is the C rating for this diesel oil? Is it DL1 compliant?

Supercheap site shows better container shot. Oil is ACEA C3. Suggest you check your cars manual before buying rather than believing the autobarn blurb.

Good news is C3 is okay for Kia Sorrento. Bad news if you have a Mazda Skyactive diesel C3 is not compatible.

    • The alternative is the 'Euro' diesel 5W-30 from SCA, but that wasn't on special - it has the 'lower' ACEA A3/B4 rating which appears to be unsuitable for DPFs. Given I don't have a DPF in my Sorento, I can use either oil without problem.

As for a Mazda Skyactiv, this Mazda bulletin appears to be contrary to your claims in that you SHOULD to use C3, and not a lower rated oil. You didn't specify what you were running for any comparison.

But, without having researched Mazdas much nor having any experience with them, I'll leave that clarification to others.

  • Uses to use Mobil delvac in the Sti and Evo.

This could also be a good alternative for performance cars. it does require more frequent oils changes In those applications.
