I love popcorn chicken and am happy to pay for a bucket of it.
You don't buy fast food because you want gourmet or can make it for cheaper, you buy it because it tastes good and you don't have to spend time cooking/cleaning >:(

  • Popcorn chicken is extremely good but way to expensive even this sale isn't that good…. I can buy a whole BBQ chook from IGA for $9….Anyhow I'm just repeating what most others are saying…. 😁

    • +2

youre not comparing the same thing though.

    • +1

Well instead of buying a whole IGA chicken for $9, you can buy a 1.25 litre bottle of drink for under $1.

Throw some of this with a cup of cooked rice, frozen peas, corn, carrots into a wok to make Popcorn Chicken fried rice. Add some soy sauce for colour. Add Egg and prawns to take to next level.

    You're welcome.

    • +6

Sounds interesting albeit defeating the purpose of what's meant to be lazy food lol

  • What kind of weight would the deal be? Wondering how it compares to say price per kg Coles box "chicken poppets". It's a different thing I know but thinking of the rice idea above, don't think that matters as much (plus get it all in one shop)

  • KFC C U Next Tuesday!

  • Loved the taste of popcorn chicken (it's real meaty too) but hated the greasy fingers afterwards.

    • +1

I love the taste of popcorn chicken, but hate the greasy arteries afterwards.

Not gonna stop me from taking advantage of this deal!

      • Do what I do, just wash it down with a can of Coke. Apparently Coke is a cleaner people use for polishing cars.

      • There's evidence that if you lower LDL to below 1.8 you can get plaque reversal / regression

        • So binge on popcorn chicken while it is on sale. Then proceed to do a crazy amount of exercise, eat nothing but lettuce leaves and take a bunch of pills to reverse all the damage done by the popcorn chicken?

Seems totally worth it for $10 a bucket

  • 20g of fat per 100g of popcorn chicken though

  • +1

once the popcorn chicken offers commence will they discontinue the 9 pieces for 9.95?

    • where is the 9 pieces deal currently active? NSW?

      • QLD/WA

        • Haven't seen 9-$9.95 in our local for weeks and weeks now.
Is that still running? Regular Tuesday deal?

      • Qld

      • Edit: waaaahhhhh…. The one time I wished I lived in Perth…

    • No.

  • Me belly is ready

  • i notice on their website underneath it says 'Not in all stores and not forever' well how convenient for them, anyone found a store that has knocked back their order?

    • Any fast food promo from any brand will have these sort of captions "Available at participating stores for a limited time only"

      • ok then as an insider, can you give insight into how they choose which ones do NOT participate? or how many would not? Also off topic but since i can't reply to the topic, with the free chips+drink for completing the survey, do you know if the receipt+code has to be redeemed at the same store you made the purchase or can it be any store?

        • +1

Generally the ones not participating are part of beta market tests, i.e. They are running a different promotion to the rest of Australia. These markets could be as small as 8 stores, or as big as an whole state.
Another case is some franchisees may opt out of Promotions.

You can redeem the chips and drink at any store in Australia!

        • @oscinator1988: i presume it would not be very good for business so not many would 'opt out'? Beta market tests being for a product/promo they are testing the waters with to work out if popular enough to do country wide?

  • I bought this on last Tuesday! It was pretty good value, and tasted pretty good, but my only criticism was that it was very salty! Is this normal? The saltiness was the only thing holding me back from gorging myself silly

    • saltier than previous tastes or have you never bought them before? as far as added salt goes its up to the servers at the time, sometimes they double up on it eg chips get salted by one server, the other one doesn't realize & salts them again. They don't usually add salt to chicken though.

      • I've never had popcorn chicken before, however I've had most other things on the menu at KFC (and none, not even the chips, have tasted too salty). Another person that I shared it with commented on the high level of saltiness too, although I doubt he'd ever had them before either

        • +1

maybe they just stuffed up the coating then coz i haven't found it to be anymore salty than the pieces/nuggets etc. I had some strips awhile back that tasted weird coz they put craploads of pepper in the coating. I don't know if the coating itself is prepared in store or comes pre mixed.

  • Just bought one and it's only two thirds full!

    • oh I got a fully filled one and god… can't even finish half of it at lunch (with a $5 lunch box though). Have to keep eating it in the afternoon and end up finishing it the next day as breakfast… great value!

    • +1

they were probably running low on it in a busy period, i find they top up things more when its quiet or they're near closing time to use it up before they have to chuck it i guess

  • +1

Bought one….was so damn filling!! Didnt get chips, or a drink with it (Drank my Aldi 69c Diet-Lemonade(!) with it). Great value.

  • +1

They just announced on Facebook that it won't be in buckets for much longer and apparently you have to be quick.

  • Can someone post an actual picture of this 'bucket'? From previous experience with KFC portion sizes, I'm guessing it's no larger than the palm of your hand.

    • +1

The bucket is sold out in most shops. You will be getting two maxi popcorn until this deal finish.

      • most stores still have the bucket but have ran out of lids

  • Already selling at Sunnybank KFC.

  • Thought this was a very average deal, expensive for what you get.. 9 for $9.95 is much better.

  • +2

got this last night, i found it did not seem to be of the same texture as in the past. It almost seemed like the chicken patty they used in the kids burgers they used to sell. In the past popcorn chicken seemed to have more chicken & less additives, anyone else notice this?
maybe they ran out of the regular popcorn chicken & had to make it from another cut of chicken or maybe its changed? I haven't eaten it for about 6 mths though as its usually kinda expensive & not in any voucher deals.

    • +1

Yes, it's definitely not the same as when it was released years ago!

Heaps of processed crap and less chicken than then, left me with an awful feeling afterwards.

No such issues when I purchase the original recipe tenders.

    • +1

I noticed this too, way less chicken texture in the pieces, they seemed to have added a bit of filler around the meat now.
