  • wait this is at coles express? the petrol station? how the heck am i going to find 50 dollars worth of things to buy? people are gonna think im crazy.

    • +2

      Ummm… Petrol… ;)

    • 50 Litre of milk will do :p :p

      • +1

omg petrol and milk. omg i feel like a retard.

    • couldn't agreed more, was excited already and found out need to spend 50 bucks on coles express…which they already overpriced already.

  • Done guys, love my amex :)

  • Such a good bargain, hopefully I get the voucher soon!

  • I entered all the details and then press CONTINUE button at the bottom of the page. Then it goes to the error page giving the message, Page can not be found.

Now I am thinking if this really is the ligitimate site :(

    • That happened to me when using Google Chrome. Worked ok in IE

How can this have over 100 positive votes when it is invitation only "and you must have received an invitation to register for the Merchant Offer" The majority of people will be ineligible

    • Acknowledge this - I wasn't aware of this ultra fine print at the time the deal was posted. Interestingly enough the deal can be navigated to via the main website (not an exclusive URL) and the deal is also limited to 5,000 subscribers. It will be interesting to see how this one pans out and if AMEX limit the vouchers. Either way its a PR stuff up by AMEX to leave the query in people's mind.

  • +2

This is a good deal, but the whole thing is a bit ambiguous. I wouldn't be surprised if a whole heap of us (myself included) ended up spending $50 and not get the voucher.

They should at least have some sort of email confirmation when you first register so at least you know you're eligible.

    • -1

They should at least have some sort of email confirmation when you first register so at least you know you’re eligible.

You know you are eligible if you receive a letter from them asking you to register.
No letter means you are not eligible even if you register

  • To be ELIGIBLE you must have "received an invitation" and successfully registered.

As the terms and conditions do not state how or from whom one must have received an invitation, the offer would seem to be open to anyone who is otherwise eligible.

However, "PARTICIPATION (in this offer to receive a $30 Coles Express Gift Card) is limited to the first 5000 Cardmembers who register."

Unfortunately, one is not informed upon successfully registering if they are in the first 5000.

  • Coles Express - does it mean Coles supermarket or Coles Express(Shell petrol station)?? Could someone please help with this?

    • -1

Have you ever seen a coles supermarket named "coles express"?

Have you ever seen a coles services station named anything but "coles express"?

      • +3

The Coles in Brisbane CBD is a "Coles Express". Basically a smallish supermarket.

        • -1

are you sure that isn't a coles central?

    • It is very simple logic

      If you need information http://tinyurl.com/38efp3a

  • dam they dont sell gift cards so ill have to buy a phone or mobile broadband recharge to reach the $50 min spend required.

    • Yep, that's what I did. Bought two months worth of credit vouchers. Just hope it all works out.

  • +1

mmm… "It says offer only for the first 5000" - no confirmation that you are in that 5000

just called amex cs, i have a cba issued amex and they refused to answer any questions because its not a true amex. I havent called cba yet but doubt they will be any better

    • -1

i have a cba issued amex and they refused to answer any questions because its not a true amex

      What do you expect?

The number you called is for assistance with their cards, you do not have an American express issued card. They cannot help you as they do not have any access to your credit card details.

Maybe you can also call ANZ to ask them about your card, it is the same thing as calling Amex.

      • -3

I was asking for assistance on the AMEX promotion not on my specific card. What I was saying is that they flat out refused to answer any questions regarding the promotion when I mentioned cba. It wouldn't have hurt the brain dead cs rep to provide me general info on this particular promotion as it said 3rd party issued amex cards were possibly eligible.

You might be interested to know that AMEX, VISA and Mastercard still offer limited cardholder services such as emergency card replacements if you call them instead of the bank that issued your card.

I was asking for assistance on the AMEX promotion not on my specific card

But the numbers listed for American express are those for American express cardholders.

You would need to speak to someone at American Express Network which is what the website is. However the website specifically tells you to contact YOUR card issuer.

as it said 3rd party issued amex cards were possibly eligible.

It doesnt matter, you have a third party card so you need to call your third party issuer for help.

Yes they do but that is very different to asking a specific question about your account.

  • So I called CBA and after being cold transferred to 3 different reps what do you know not one person had NFI about it

    • -1

what do you expect? Just use some logic and either purchase the $50 for the promotion, or don't. Its up to you.

      • +1

what are you a mate of anthony or something? I'm adding to the discussion my experience to help the community I'm not just here because I have nothing else to do.

        • -1

I’m adding to the discussion my experience to help the community

No you are not. Telling people that you called a company who you have no dealings with for help and then telling people that they wouldn't help you is meaningless.

For example, by your reasoning I should be able to complain about this (fake story)
Today I went into a optus store because my Samsung phone has optus branding on it. I wanted them to help me change some settings in the phone however when I handed the phone across they handed it back and told me that they couldn't help me because the phone said I was with Vodafone.
The phone came from optus so I expected them to help me but they wouldn't because i am not a customer of theirs.

Why not call Mastercard about your CBA issued mastercard credit card or debit card and ask them about your card. They will also be unwilling to help.

          • +1

@anthony: Read again. He called CBA - and he has a CBA issued Amex.

  • has anyone got the refund ?

    • nope not me.

    • Got mine today, though I think it was at the Post Office last Friday (Registered Mail). Transaction was dated 22nd Sept.
