It was literally announced an hour ago, so no "Official" website yet.

Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
Key works there are "GSM/GPRS/EDGE" - those are the 2G bands, they have nothing to do with 3G data.
What you are looking for is the bit that says…
HSPA/WCDMA: • Europe/Asia: 900/2100 MHz
Therefore no 850MHz 3G (NextG) compatibility :-(

i think you made mistake or the page does…
its the Htc Z that is exclusive on vodaphone..

edit: maybe engadget misheard then..

This shows they both are the same, unless it is incorrect.
2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G Network HSDPA 900 / 2100EDIT:nvm just reread your comment.

I have been waiting for a few months now to get a new phone and this looks very promising!
Anyone got any guesses as to which telcos this will be available on? stumo suggests that it's not compatible with NextG so do people thing that it's unlikely to be a Telsta exclusive like the non HD Desire?
Also, if we buy this from overseas, who has the best BYO phone plan which includes data and calls?
Edit: Also, has anyone ever used superetrader.co.uk before? Comments? Issues? What happens with warranty claims etc?

Already announced, will be exclusive to Vodafone/3 AU

THANKS mate for this link. I am so happy. I even left a comment there.
Glad to know 3 will have it as atm they don't have ANY HTC phones which was bugging me.
I was trying to avoid getting an iPhone and was not liking the exlusiveness of Telstra to the current version.
BTW, I have not looked into the comparission between the 2 HTC Desires yet, but I am guessing this one has a better screen and can play HD movies and the other doesn't?

Main new features are 4.3inch (slcd) screen, 768mb ram, 1.5GB internal storage, 8mp camera, Dolby® Mobile and SRS surround sound, and DLNA.
3 does have these Android phones, http://www.three.com.au/cs/ContentServer?c=Page&pagename=Thr...
Jabba the Hutt on 15/09/2010 - 23:03 ¶This page says they only accept bank deposit for orders from outside Europe:
http://www.superetrader.co.uk/international_orders.html
Also seems like a bit of a gamble as far as warranty is concerned - I'd want to check whether the phone has an international warranty and what the terms are.

Here is the offical page on HTC's site. http://www.htc.com/www/product/desireHD/overview.html
I'm guessing that link isn't meant to be up yet cos the specifications and pictures are still showing the regular desire not the HD version.
eg. the linked image is http://www.htc.com/uploadedImages/WWW/Product/HTC_Desire/siz... but http://www.htc.com/uploadedImages/WWW/Product/HTC_Desire_HD/... works… shrugs :P
hypocrisyinaction on 16/09/2010 - 06:21 ¶AT&T uses 850/1900. T-mobile uses 1700/2100 but it's this bizarre setup where one is upload and the other download so you need both to have 3G, which basically means that it won't work. The CDMA carriers are obviously incompatible too. You can still use the phone at GSM/EDGE speeds but it won't work with 3G in the US. Unfortunately this is fairly common at the moment, you'll need to look out for a US-only release if they do one in the future since the rest of the world basically uses 2100 and/or 900MHz - American 3G bands are a special case.

My god more techo's making no sense.
Its like those trying to buy an iphone before it was available in OZ.
This is a bargain site - not a wish site.
Not one person has indicated how this is a bargain. Yes not locked to any network, but its an outright purchase and may nor may not ship to OZ, this really belongs in the forums or am I missing something. And I have read the posts…..
And its pre-order so how they hell does anyone know if its going to be a bargain….
Give me some reasons NOT to can this and let someone put it in the forums….

I think it's a bargain after reading http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/16/htc-desire-z-priced-at-54...
- Play.com is doing it for 470 GBP ex delivery
So $456 GBP delivered seems like a good deal with the included bonuses.
It's a good pre-order price but will likely be available from all importers once it launches and stock is more available.

Sorry ozpete, I got kinda swept up in the excitement of it all :P
We don't know that this is going to be a bargain as the prices haven't been released. However based on the price of the iPhone 4 and Galaxy S in Aus it is likely that getting it from overseas will be cheaper than getting it here.
I haven't looked at the rules in a little while so this may or may not fit the criteria of bargain; but I'm glad it was posted otherwise I wouldn't have known about it :)

Isn't this cheaper for £420 plus 25 for delivery or am I missing something?

Guys your comments are helpful but please remember this.
A Bargain isnt just to do with the base price, and also we are comparing overseas deals with what - other overseas deals.
Also simple cash conversion of Overseas currency £456.49 to AUD on google shows
759.681845 and good luck getting this rate except maybe with the Wizard card. And also the other transaction fees.Yep getting it for £50 less is a deal, if the effective price is cheaper than here. Vodka discounted by 40% in Roubles means nothing if its 10% more than a bottle here.
But buy an Iphone, which I know most of you wont buy otherwise you wouldn't be reading this, on a plan here is $1200 odd vs the $900 odd for outright, so really buying a phone without a plan is very limited for most people.
I am sure this will come with some plan or other here.
And will this company warrant the phone, will it be covered here? Many issues make this unlikely to be any deal. Again we dont have any local comparison price.
Given that is is now off the radar most viewers its no point closing it down now, so its being left, but really it shouldn't have been in the deals. A forum post would have been better and probably more effective as it would be seen longer.

No shipping to Oz?
nvm: just tried through checkout and Oz does come up, its just the main page that only shows European delivery options.
