Office 365 Home 5 Users 12 Months Subscription $79 @ Save on IT

260

Was looking for a cheap Office 365 subscription to extend my current plan…..this seems pretty good to me. Currently on sale.

Currently $96 at officeworks, this seems like a good deal. Never bought from them before though.

  • I just got it from them a couple of days ago. They will email you the key at this price, or else its another $5 more for the card to be sent to you instead. Cheapest you will find but not sure if OW will price match a email delivered key though.

    • someone that's ebay account is only 2 weeks old, really really cheap price….seems legit!

      • Education licence

    • The one advertised on eBay cannot be used to renew an existing account. The seller will provide an email and password for your use. While it may not be illegal or pirated, it doesn't sound safe for your files.

Very legit as these are for educational institutes or students but technically you need to be a student or teacher to be using this sub. MS can revoke these at anytime and if they do then you would lose everything you've stored on OneDrive. So if you really want to use this then make sure you don't store anything on OneDrive as you will not get access to your data if licence is revoked.

Even cheaper edu licence at $6.24

  • Do they have a way to tell if you use it for commercial use? I'm running a small home-based business

    • No but if they audit the business and you have the wrong licence you're up shit creek.

      • No but if they audit the business

        Who ?

        • Microsoft. Looks up licence audits, they're very common.

        • @potplanty:

          Microsoft. Looks up licence audits

There is no legal requirement to give them access to my private network or hardware.

        • @jv: boom!

        • @jv: In case of clients not playing ball they face the a formal audit that is invoked from the license contract terms. These audits can involve having to run scripts on your network, paying back-maintenance and quite possibly legal action.

Trust me, they don't need you to give them access, they can get the courts to do that.

And if you think you can stand up to them when the DOD and several NSW government agencies couldn't then you're seriously wrong.

        • @jv: backdoor entry thanks to NSA

        • @potplanty:

hey can get the courts to do that.

Exactly. Requires a court order and evidence. They just can't role up and do an audit whenever they want.

        • @jv: It's the other way around - you're getting access to your data on their network and hardware, so if you break the terms of the license they can do what they want with your data. Eventually there will be a backlash as who wants that risk, but for now people are sleep-walking into the trap since private cloud services aren't quite there yet.

    • Had to switch on the VPN for this one…We're using it at work and so far so good, you'll be fine

    • For low level usage, you'll be fine.
It's if they see 30 simultaneous connections, that they are likely to start asking questions.

Google Maps does the same thing, free to use, but if they start seeing a lot of connections from a similar IP range, they find out who it belongs to, and sends a sales team round to discuss commercial usage.

  • That's their normal price…

    • Doesn't stop it from being a bargain if it's cheaper than the market price.

      • Doesn't stop it from being a bargain

It's not a bargain if it's their normal price as there is no saving. It's been mentioned here numerous times.

By the way, you can get it cheaper via price match at OW.

It says their normal price is $90.38.

  • I was also looking for the personal license to extend my subscription which ends end of this month. Ended up buying from PLE for $69. Should have looked at this seller which sell the same thing at $57. Good to know for future reference.

    • Thanks. I'm also considering getting personal license. Do you know if I can install it on my Desktop PC and my Surface Pro? I contacted Microsoft's online support but they said no.

      • Actually that is how I installed mine. I have office installed on my main PC and my SP4. Have been this way since i bought the SP4.

        • Did you have to use the windows store version on your SP4?

I'm getting a lot of mixed messages on the interwebs

        • @dajackal: Sorry mate not sure what u mean. I just install office365 and then apply the serial number.

        • @jeeg: The licence is restricted to one PC and one tablet. From my googling it seemed as if others could only make the SP4 as a tablet if you install the tablet version of office 365.

Did you install two full desktop versions of office 365?

        • +1

@dajackal: yes I install both desktop versions for both the SP4 and my main PC.

  • Whats the difference between the subscription 365 version and the standard year ie current "office 2016" which many employers and students can get for $15 or so.

A google search will prob get you the link and code

    • +1

I believe the main difference is the 1TB onedrive which Office365 entitle u to.

  • +1

Was disappointed that Microsoft didn't run a cash back on office in June. I had to pay $96 from office works.

    • +1

      I was surprised too.

  • they are around $68.38 in some hong kong stores , but you need to speak cantonese and order through the phone / whatsapp and ask them to read /send you the code :D

Also, has any one try this - Ships from Israel
    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073SZKS5P/ref=sr_1_11?s=software&…

it says "Lifetime-Subscription", does it mean 1TB of onedrive life time as well?

  • If your work uses Office 365 you might be able to use that license for home use. Office 365 for businesses gives a single license holder the ability to install Office 2016 on 5 machines.

Just check with your work first. Or not. If you know your password, just try it out.

  • Why us Ozbargainers not buy one for 5 pcs and divide the price amongst us.

    • there is a thread in the forum about this i think
