  • can anyone vouch for these?

    • Had one of this but return it. Don't expect much from ANC. I'm no audiophile but the sound quality is quite decent. The earcups are a bit shallow. It has some cool functions like pause/play when you remove the headphone and put it back on your ear. I didn't use it long enough to test the battery life. The controls on both earcups are somewhat useful but the overall look might put some people off. For that price and if you're not really looking for ANC specifically, I would get it.

    • I have the Backbeat Sense - obviously not the same, as the Sense doesn't fully encapsulate the ears and is older, but I can speak to the quality of them. Backbeat Sense have been the best headphones I've owned. I'm no audiophile, so something that sounded good at an attractive price was ideal. The in-built microphone is pretty garbage, so I can only imagine it will be better on the larger, newer Pro 2; how much better I don't know. Battery life is pretty solid on the Sense, likely pretty good on these guys. Sense is very lightweight so that's one drawback of these for me, but it's a personal one. I really like the feature that pauses music when you take the headphones off, and hits play when you put them back on - that's solid, even if it doesn't work in conjuncture with some overlaying game apps.

      • Hey mate keen to better understand why you think the in-built microphone is garbage. All the reviews have been positive about the call quality. I'm thinking of getting one for myself and call quality is #1 priority for me (home office so background noise is not an issue).

Hey! Sorry for the late reply. I haven't actually heard what the call quality is like to listen to, but I've always found that people have trouble hearing me when I am using it. The cool thing is it automatically routes the call through bluetooth and you can choose whether you answer or not; personally I don't use it just because I end up having people asking me to speak up or repeat myself frequently. This is for the Backbeat Sense though; it's more lightweight and the microphone would be a little further from the mouth (very slightly). Can't comment on the quality of the Backbeat Pro 2

@McManly: Thanks mate! I will stick with the voyager focus in that case.

        • @dajackal: No worries! I think if mic quality is important, a dedicated boom mic is probably your safest bet.

I have them, and I love them.
      - Sound quality is exceptional for this price range (I consider myself an audiophile)
      - You can have 2 devices seamlessly connected (PC and mobile), and work with both. I listen to music on the PC, make Skype calls on the PC, and make phone calls throughout the day, and I don't have to touch the headphones at all, it is smart enough to switch back and forth.
      - Battery life is amazing. Since I bought them, I charged them only 6 times (bought them 3 months ago).
      - ANC is OK, for office noise blocking perfect, for plane it's OK, takes the edge off quite nice.

I would recommend them if you can't afford QC35. Even then, QC35 is just better ANC, sound quality there is so-so.

      • how's the call quality? No issues without a dedicated mic boom? I need to make calls on phone and Skype quite often

        • call quality is good.

I never had an issue hearing the other side in Skype or phone calls, the other side always comes through loud and clear.

also no one ever complained about not being able to hear me.

occasionally when I make calls on a busy road outside, or when it's windy, people can ask me to repeat something, but not many headsets work perfect in such circumstances.

        • @kasaresj: thanks mate I'm still leaning towards the plantronics voyager focus which is lighter and has a boom mic.

check the "Purchase History", price jack up the price from $169 to $199, use promo codes to bring it back down, whats the point!!

    • The point is the companies make more money and people who aren't on Ozbargain think they got a deal when they were really stitched up.

      • I think samelight was asking what the point was to this deal, not the point of the price jack.

    • +1

      whats the point!!

The point is it is the cheapest you can find on the market at the moment. 😁

      • ture but still…

    • Admittedly the price rise wasn't in response to this promo - it's been $199 since around April…

      • don't know about may, but june and july all got 20%off from ebay.
therefore its very much response to "a" promo.

  • Bose QC35 is much better choice. I own both products. If you after the noise cancellation function, Choose QC35.
Plantronics BackBeat Pro 2 also don't have any RESET function in hardware or software (nor you can refresh the firmware to erase paired info). So if the headphone have some issue paring with you BT adapter. good luck with diagnosis.

    • Well the Bose are more than double the price of these. How do these stack up for the price?

    • +3

Completely different price ranges and these is a very compelling value proposition. Some people will also like the sound quality of these better than the Bose, which is especially impressive given the price difference. If money is no object, then the Sony MDR-1000x is the king of NC headphones.

      • The Sony are good but certainly not the king of NC. The Bose QC35 are better in both NC and comfort…and on long haul flights comfort is king.

  • +1

I have the first Pro's and enjoy them (even if they are huge and the noise cancellation is good, not great).

If these were local, I would consider, I'm less inclined to purchase tech imports where returns or warranty may be required.

  • +1

don't forget to update them to the latest firmware out of the box.

I upgraded mine today, and sound quality got even better, and dual source handling is more smart!

    • Thanks for tips, just updated it to v.20. 😊

      • enjoy! btw, that's how I bought them, from exactly this seller, exactly this price, but some time in May :D

  • (Kinda a stupid question, sorry in advance)

I got the $40 JBL's from this deal- https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/317232 Now obviously they wont be in even the same league as $300 headphones, but my use is for listening on daily commute/ travel. Is it worth the upgrade to these ones for light use? Tempting price ..

    • +1

they are amazing for the price. they are perfect for the commute! block out noise, and sound quality is stellar.

on the plane their ANC is a bit weak, and they hold on to your head quite strong, so not really for prolonged listening sessions.

but commute and intermittent office use (I do 5-6 one hour sessions at work) these are perfect.

      • Thanks mate! Returned the JBL's and grabbed a pair of these :D Excited!

        • also forgot to mention that they are perfect as a headset (making calls that is).

many good and more expensive Bluetooth sets suck at making calls

        • @kasaresj: how's the call quality? No issues without a dedicated mic boom?

  • +1

Out of stock…I hesitated too long! Anywhere else I could get it at this price?
