  1. 18,000 Avios points for €160 (A$237.26) – ie A1.3c per point
  2. You will be sent a code and need to go to the aviosvoucher.com redemption website to redeem
  3. You need a British Airways Executive Club Account (just need a dummy / or friend's overseas address to register for the account).

Where is the value?
1. PER to MEL in Business (20,000 Avios + taxes)
2. MEL to SYD in Business (9,000 Avios + taxes)

Btw the above is for a digital subscription. Not sure if you really care about the Irish Independent… but is a bonus if you do

This is a very, very roundabout hack, esp with point 3 needing someone overseas to get you a club membership.

    • Not really. you can use any address. I signed up for a BA account using my shipito address. Never received any mail.

    • Within the world of points this is easy and not really a hack as points are a common flight currency and this is not against any terms and conditions.

  • Sweet deal. Can you transfer these points to someone else's account? That way I could sign up for my family members and consolidate the points. Luckily we also have plenty of family in Ireland who would love a free newspaper everyday ☺️

    • You can setup a "Household account" in BAEC. And that way you can consolidate the points.
I think best value is the digital subscription - but as you can see there is also an option for a physical paper (for more money).

  • how long does it take for the avios points 'appear' in the account ?

    • not sure.
i haven't booked yet but will do so probably next month.

    • 21 days.

  • What's the best way to make up the remaining points (e.g. 2k for a mel-syd return)

    Thanks.

    • British Airways has a pay+points option, so.. cash?

    • +1

isn't 18k avios perfect for a mel>syd business return? one way its 9000 avios.

      • Yes, yes it is.

        I am obviously retarded, lol

        thanks for the heads up

Maybe you were looking at the melbourne to perth one way pricing (a much more justifiable business class seat for the hours in the air and lieflat seat)

For those interested in this mel>perth route. options to make up the 2k are to keep an eye out for the next groupon.es iberia sale which usually has a limited 2k points for 19euro. or just pick up 4k points for 59euro (2.19c aud a point) which would also work out nicely if you are flying return or as a couple and buying 2 subscriptions and family pooling to a single ba executive club account.

          details here:
          https://www.groupon.es/deals/avios-iag-group

check out this post for details on these groupon deals. a bit more complicated than this one as you need to sign up to iberia then transfer to ba so a few more hoops to jump through for the last 2k points

  • Terms and conditions say that the Avios voucher must be claimed by 30th Jun 2017 23:59. Did you claim it recently after 30th Jun?

    • i think that is a legacy T&C that they did not update.
this promo just came out within the last 24hrs.

  • do we get the voucher in email automatically after purchase?

    • after 21 days. I think as they have a cooling off period where you can get a refund?

      • thank you,
        checked the terms:
Please allow 21 days after you subscribe to receive instructions from Avios on how to use your unique voucher code.

        • I also just noticed that in the terms:
The number of Avios for this promotion will be added to the account number given within 14 working days of you claiming them.
so 14 days on top of the 21? 35 days?

        • @jayel:
great spot, looks like up to 35 days it is to get hold of the points.
good for people not in a hurry

        • @sayako:

just got my voucher after 8 days and after entering the voucher code its says it will be available in my account in 5 days. so might order another.

        • @jayel:

Thanks, got mine too and entered it in BAEC.

        • @sayako:

Wondering how to claim for Jetstar/Qantaslink flights…if that's possible

        • @sayako:

jetstar not possible, qantaslink you need to call to redeem..

        • @annielee:

          Thanks Annie!

        • @jayel:

Just checked, Avios points are in!

        • @sayako:

Same with me. Newspaper subscription on 24/8, voucher received 30/8, points in BAEC 6/9.

          Great deal

  • Bought 2 subscriptions…

Let's see how this goes… lol

  • Deal has expired - they've cut the bonus to 9,000 points
