They have lost virtually all the profits from the ps1 + ps2 on the ps3 and are last in the console's sold world wide.

Doesnt seem very clever to me…but hey I dont mind as long as they keep putting out good exclusives.

        • amazon.com started in 1994 and wasn't profitable(read, made a loss) till 2001. Now their profits are going up exponentially due to market infiltration.

We can argue detail all night but the basic idea is sound.

  • Another thought: combine this deal with the JB 10% PayPal cashback for online purchases?

    • Ignore the above: checked and the prices online don't seem competitive when delivery is added, even when the $100 is deducted.

      • Actually mate, going on a week and a bit later, it is a good deal: $1698 + $86 post - $100 = 1685!

  • "2 x Sony Active Shutter 3D glasses (model TDGBR100B) valued at $99RRP each inc GST

    I don't see "1x PlayStation 3 160GB (valued at $499RRP inc GST)" in there…

    • u need to look harder lol!

—- Check again mate.. Rep added newline after it :p

  • Sony tv's are seriously overpriced. they're pricing like they're still the market leader. This ain't 10 years ago.

    • +1

      not true

these are all 3d + most are LED

      LED + 3d = all brands overpriced

you are thinking of LCD or plasma and they are way cheaper

    • +1

Woah.. we definitely pay way too much in Australia…

      Sony KDL-55NX810 55" 1080p 3D LED 240Hz HDTV

Alice in Wonderland 3D Kit w/ Transmitter

      ALL for US $2,399

See if they'll price match that!!! LOL.

      • +1

Mate come into my room and I'll show you all kinds of dimensions you never knew about ;)

        • +1

thats a little creepy :) but ok sure!

  • Wondering if you can combine it with GE ?
    Any ideas?

    • -2

      nop,

      The TV purchase has not been made in full (third party payment schemes with an authorised Sony Australia dealer will be accepted);

    • "Third party payment schemes with a Sony Australia Authorised Dealer will be accepted." I presume this means yes.

  • Does these 3D TV in the market have any standardisation or will this be obsolete in two years?

    • its a passing fad for suckers. also LED TVs suck the technology is still too immature. they just need these buzz words to still be able to sell TVs for rip off prices.

      • +1

It's still developing. Before LCD monitors and TVs came out, they sucked. Now they're mainstream. LED technology is superior to LCD technology, which makes them BETTER. Although they're still a relatively immature technology in consumer products like TVs and monitors, they will get better.

Besides, LED TVs are thin, look great, and are bright. They may be expensive, but that is purely up to the buyer to decide. If people get sucked into marketing buzz and hype, then so be it. It just means they don't care to research. That's their choice.

        • +3

You know there is bugger all difference between LED & LCD right?
The only difference is they use LEDs for back lighting instead of cold cathodes.
The rest is just marketing to extract more money from suckers.

        • +2

You'd think people would know that so-called LED TVs are just a different backlight.
But marketing BS speaks louder than facts.

Real LED displays are starting to appear on phones, and will probably be on big TVs eventually as they should be much more energy efficient than current methods. Sony released a real LED TV, but it is small and very expensive.

      • 3D is just a feature like turning up the brightness of your TV its more software on a 240Htz HDMI 1.4 Capable TV, soon enough ALL LCD tv's will have an LED backlight and the 3D feature built in.. it will just be the norm!

We will be going back to calling 3D LED backlit LCD tv's = LCD TV = gain and same for 3D plasma .. it will just be Plasma TV again :)

3D and extra features will be labled as they are .. extra features of the LCD or plasma.. as ALL Tv's will have them pretty much.

        • truth

  • not really a deal on its own, as others have said Sony overprices their TV's pretty bad. Good if you can find a cheap one or were going to get one anyway though

  • I bought a 46HX700 in July and I am happy.

    This is shyt.

  • which ones are the Authorised Sony Dealer? Does Myer, JB Hifi, DSE or Harvey Norman counts?
Coz Harvey Norman may have a better price than Sony Central stores.
If we can get it from Harvey Norman, Myer or other stores, can we claim the bonus PS3 sets?

    • JB Hifi for sure, but you will save on postage cost of your bonus free stuff if you can just pick it up on the day you buy the TV from the sony centre!

Remember to add the extra $55 Credit card fee for postage ontop of your JBhifi or HN deal.

So it looks like Sony Centre will sell u a 40" TV for $1899 take away the $55 you would pay online for redeeming your bonus give away stuff. And it workes out to be around $1845 from the SONY Centre. Plus you dont have to wait weeks or months on your $1000 worth of extra's to show up in the mail you can take them home with the time in the same day!

      • You can negotiate price at Sony Centre? Also I think they charge 55-60 for delivery.

Sony doesnt charge extra on Credit cards? That'd be great too.

        • as far i as i know, you cannot negotiate prices at Sony Centres.
Whatever their ticketed price is (RRP or sale price) is what you pay.

        • Not true, I got them to beat HN price when the nex-5 first came out. Listed as $1299 sony centre HN had it for $1067. They beat the price and threw in some extras as well.

  • omg can't wait for those tv that i can walk so i can see my girlfriend selena gomez everyday

  • +1

Hey guys, not sure if this is Australia wide, but Harvey Norman in Townsville is selling the 46 inch sony model for $2699 + they give you that free pack + U get Austar HD free for a year (not the BS entry level one, the full one).

Might be worth checking out at your nearest Harvey Norman. It works out to a total of about $2200 worth of extras all up.

  • Got a MyerOne booklet in the mail just now. Myer is advertising the KDL46HX800 for $2796 with 5000 bonus shopping credits (2000 points = $20 voucher) with Myer One Card presentation. Not neccessarily the most competitive price but might be of interest to those with gift cards or perhaps Myer credit cards and no moola :D

Just got the last 40HX800 from the "Sony CC" Shop in Brisbane DFO,
they are affiliated with Videopro I believe (either way, eligible sony dealer)

40HX800 with a slightly damaged carton (no chance the minor scuffs have had any impact on the tv, let alone the inside later of cardboard, super minor)

    $1697!

Super stoked! now to make the claim!

    • +1

awesome, any chance of uploading a receipt ?

    • If it was a Sony Centre why didnt they give you the Free extra's from the shop when u paid for the TV?

  • VERY nice price, if you add all those extra's into the mix its the best deal.

  • is your name justin bieber?

Could you post your receipt please?
I want the same TV ;-)
      Cheers

    • Would you mind uploading the receipt as i plan to purchase one this weekend. Thanks.

  • For people interested. The Robina store is getting more of the 40" HX800 in tomorrow. Am picking one up tomorrow for $1749. The guy i spoke to also said that they have the packs in store and you just have to come back a week later and pick them up. Includes everything, expect GT5 obviously.

    • Nice, JB just topped that to $1698 til 31/10

  • Guys, JB Hi Fi have 15% off TVs, making the HX800 40" Bravia model only $1700 from their website + delivery (or in store, if stock is available). Not bad considering the best price mentioned here is as low as $1800-1900!

    http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/plasma-lcd-tvs/lcd%20tv/sony-…

Today and tomorrow only! Cheers all

Update 31/10: GOOD GUYS Thomastown $1680. If you want the TV + a PS3 console - but no redemption, go to Geelong/Southland/Bell St Preston DICK SMITH stores for the price $1499 as per the other deal listed on this site. This is for the 40" Bravia HX800

    • thanks. do you have receipt that we can use ? i heard JB will have another 15% this wednesday

  • Just interested in the best price anyone has come accross for the KDL40nx710, most posts seem to mention the HX800 only, same RRP, someone at Harvey Norman told me that they are basicly the same cost, although I cant find a price for the nx710 that gets near the hx800… also where do I find the dick smith $1499 price? is this in store only?

    • not sure for the 40nx710…but purchased the 46nx710 for $2300 at JB + 3x 3D glasses at $5 each. total $2315
Might be able to get the 40nx710 for $1700?? Hope this helps gl

      • ktl I reckon I'm gonna get the 46nx710 as well, Retravision have it in their latest catalogue for $2299, but your deal looks better. Hmmm. I would prefer the 46hx800 but its at least a few hundred more.

        • Wow a catalogue price of $2299!! That's really good…I had to haggle at JB! If I'd known..would probably have tried to get at Retravision for less. Hmmmm…but hasn't the hx800 series been out for awhile?? the nx710 is recently released I think. Not sure if the catalogue got the prices mixed up or not?? cos stores are trying to get rid of hx800 stock and some don't stock the nx710's yet. anyway I know people have gotten the 46hx800 for ~2300 with 5yr warranty etc. so you can def do better for the tv alone (hx800) @ $2300. check out the whirlpool forums

Either way $2300 should be price you pay for a 46" good luck with your decision

btw stuff like glasses can pretty much get throw in for free by the store…they are not worth much to them :)

        • Yeah the HX800 is 200Hz and older but the newer nx710 is only 100Hz. Apart from styling thats the only difference. I'm going to have a good look round tomorrow.

        • Turns out the retravision catalogue was a "printing error", best they could offer was 2.5k.

So I took it to JB (retravision still had a big stack of catalogues out front) and they did it for 2.3k but I also went for their ripoff 5 year warranty for an additional $288. My bargaining fu wasn't so good today I think you got a better deal, and they said they didn't have any 3D glasses in stock, oh well, now to go set up and bask in 46" of LED glory!

I looked quite a lot at the HX800, but the colours didn't look anywhere as good as the NX710. And they couldn't do the HX as cheap.

  • In other news, how long are ppl currently waiting for their 3D pack to arrive after posting off the info?

    • ahh good to hear you where able to get the nx for 2.3k. Yeh I thought the colour and picture looked alot better with the glass panel screen sonys. there isn't much diff b/w motionflow 100 and 200 anyway.

yeh 288 for ext warranty is quite a bit…they offered me 300 but when I said 'nah i'll just take the tv' they dropped it down to 200 instantly (and I wanted it for 100-150). But at the time I took it but then a week later when I came about my wits returned the ext warranty for a full refund under the 15 days free look term. anyways for peace of mind for the next 5 yrs its a good investment. Enjoy your purchase mate

waited 12days before my claim got validated :( hope it gets shipped soon

  • Registered my purchase on the 31/10/10 and my ps3 etc minus GT5 arrived yesterday (22/11/10)
