Was a little cheaper a few days ago. Signed up for Extra Large for $315. Still a good deal for those who missed out though.

Ah well , this is the best deal at time of posting 🙂

  • There must be a way to upgrade our current plans to one of these paying the difference or whatsoever. But I think there is none.

    • You can upgrade your plan. And get them to refund the remaining months on your current plan.

      • how do you upgrade your plan? I couldn't find any information on their site regarding this.

        • +4

You don't upgrade as such, but activate a new larger plan, which will cancel your old one. Contact them to get a refund on the unused portion of your old smaller plan.

Probably best to chat with them first to confirm.

  • Do I get to stick with the same plan after a year or I will have to gamble with my luck and hope that they will have similar or better deal when this expire? Virgin just discontinue one of their old plan I have with them and I want to find something that I can keep for a long time.

    • You can refer to my question above , I got a similar a deal in February, and apart from this one a couple of months ago there was another good deal, so likely you will come across other deals during your plan but the thing is if we are able to upgrade or not.

      • Thank you for your input baldur.

That means if I do not want to change around all the time and have my phone number porting every year, I shouldn't be picking this type of plan correct? I guess the best about this deal is the data you get every month, it offers no international call credits it seems. Is international roaming possible with this plan at all?

        • Yes you shouldn't but in my view one year is enough period of time to change your operator, you can commit to a provider for a year. It would be a fairly long time.
There is no international calls and as far as I know, there is no international roaming, not 100 percent sure but I remember I read this information on a comment here. it's a drawback of course.

  • Can anyone comment about their network?

    • Vodafone, haven't noticed any difference in my area from TPG (Optus) I was on before.
Haven't had any issues, and porting was very quick.

      • how were you on Optus via TPG? I remember they changed back to the Voda network? well that was the case for me

        • Yeah true, though the majority of my time with TPG was on Optus.
I did spend the last couple of months with them on Vodafone.

    • It's Vodafone 4G, best to check coverage maps in your area. No issue for me though.

They use Vodafone so make sure your phone has the following bands:
      3G: 850, 900, 2100 MHz
      4G: 850, 1800 MHz

      Source https://www.whistleout.com.au/MobilePhones/Guides/Will-my-ph…

Edit: frequencies may be out of date. There's more info here https://oztowers.com.au/

Then verify your phone has those radios built in:
      http://www.gsmarena.com/

If all is good, change carrier and enjoy the savings.

Note, not all bands are in all areas. There's more detail on each carriers website. Eg heaps of people have phones without Band 28 (4G 700Mhz) and are fine with Optus or Telstra (ugh) in suburban areas.

    • From my experience in Newcastle Vodafone > Telstra > Optus

    • Really good network wid fastest internet

  • I bought the prepaid large 365 day using my existing kogan account and paid for it but was not given the choice to choose to port my existing number?? Do I have to wait until my sim arrives and then activate and be given this option?

    • Yes. You wish to buy the sim now, but port over later.

    • You should get your "Voucher Code" sent to your inbox email immediately after you have paid, so can re-charge from then on.

If you want a new service with new number, or port over an old number, you need to wait for new Kogan sim to arrive first, activate and charge up account with voucher code to get your 12 months service. Just keep in mind the below date,…..

The unique Kogan Mobile voucher included as part of this product is non transferrable and cannot be redeemed for cash. Voucher expires at 11:59pm AEST on 15/10/2017. Activation or recharge must be made before the voucher expiry date. Voucher does not apply to subsequent recharges. Voucher cannot be used in conjunction with any other vouchers or promotional offers. For information about how to use Kogan Mobile vouchers, click here.

    • Kogan sent out sim that are unactive, you get the option to port-in old number or choose the number that come with the sim when activating, dont worry.

  • I wouldn't feel comfortable recharging my account for the entire year ahead with these guys knowing what happened to the old Kogan Mobile…

    • LOL. That's hilarious.

    • +2

Why? They didn't rip anyone off that I know. Got an exact pro rata refund here. Yes it was a bit of a stuff around but you can't complain that much.

      • Out of curiosity, were you given time to change to another provider in order to keep your old number?

That would be the main issue for me… too many critical institutions that need to contact me for me to call around to update them on a new number.

        • +1

Yes, was given a month's notice or something. Definitely there were no issues porting over same number to someone else and didn't have to do it absolutely immediately.

        • @Shonky: Cheers mate. Good to know.

  • When I signed up to Kogan last year they were good around Melbourne, way faster than Optus/Telstra for the locations i was in. But speeds seem to have gotten down quite a bit now.

  • Can I stack up with my existing plan?

My current plan will end at Dec 2017, if i can stack up it would be great. Just a thought.

    • +1

Mine finished in Novemeber so when I talked to them yesterday, they let me pay for and upgrade my plan (I went from Large to X-Large) and then refunded me for the remaining time on my Large plan.

      • that is good to know, thanks mate.

in my case i'm already on x-large plan but i will give them a call during lunch.

  • Is it possible to maintain my current number?

If so could anyone please advise how I could do this?

    • so you want to transfer your existing number to kogan?
yes you can, there will be an option when you register your simcard.

      • Thank you for that! Just bought it.

  • I had 3 months left on my old 365 day plan so had to contact support.

I emailed them and they wanted my pin number over email!? So I called instead and had it done in 11min.

    Thanks OP
