looks like they're forced to price match Amazon… will wait till Amazon on X'mas special

Haven't followed US Amazon alot. Do they do big sale periods for things like Christmas? Or is it a "low prices all the time" type thing? Wondering how long to hold off on these kind of deals.

      • They did ran some big drop deals like Black Friday, X'MAS deal is another one.

JB already started behaving like a well trained dog. Reading the cues.

  • So this just is for the console and games are extra?
    Are there any bundle specials?

    • Console only.

    • TGG's VIP Night deal has listed Extra 10% off Playstation, X Box & Nintendo on the Ads the Mario + Switch is $539 here and if 10% off it's down to $485 but no confirmation from them.

      • +1

It should be part of the 10% off, generally it's only iPhones and some white goods that are excluded.

      • +2

yea but buying a switch for $399 and then buying mario odyssey for $69 is cheaper. You should be able to price match as HN for $100 off with amex

        • Yeah, I think so but if you really like the RED cover, that might worth it.

    • A few stores were doing bundle sales with Super Mario Odyssey, but I found they were more expensive than buying the console and game separately; buyer beware and do the math! Pity Toyworld doesn't sell these any more; I used to find the best bundles through them.

Let the battle for my dollar begin!

Can’t wait tbh, especially on the Switch

      • +2

Yeh especially since historically its been the least discounted

        • +2

Agreed and I am itching hard for one even though I do not need it lol

  • +9

Buy it from Amazon, support the business who did it first.

      Amazon AU wasn't even trading when it was first $399;

Well technically JB did have it at this price first a week or so ago. Now if Amazon actually best that price, I'd be impressed.

      • +1

My bad, buy it from JB haha

  • +2

    damn it. tempting..

might wait for a boxing day deal though.

  • +1

wow. fortunately i didn't buy it last week for 450

Pricematch with HN and use Amex cash back?

    • You might be waiting a while if your store doesn't have any stock. I price matched and ordered mine during the last JB $399 deal and I'm STILL waiting for mine to be delivered to the store.

      • I had to go into store. The other store sending stock didnt even know they had to.. useless

      • I bought and collected ours today at JB; they had both the neon and grey available.

    • I'm going to try this. So need to buy something else to get it over 400

Just checked HN and found that they also dropped to $399 (neon)
      https://www.harveynorman.com.au/nintendo-switch-console-neon…

      • Oh man, if anyone had gotten a pricematch from HN this morning and applied it to the new online price, they'd get it for super cheap. Their pricematch code is usually for a set difference (ie $70), so it'll apply to the new price too. Happened the last time when HN dropped the price by a few bucks and people had the $399 pricematch.

    • +1

Yes you can. I did and threw in Super Mario Odyssey (price matched to $67 even though they had it for $69) which totalled $366 after cash back.

While I was waiting for the C&C store to replenish stock, Target advertised the Switch for $369 so got HN to refund me the $30 through their 7 day price guarantee policy.

        True OzBargainer.

Yeah gonna keep waiting, if Amazon has it for a flat $399 going forward then surely something better will come along.

  • +1

Just ordered for $368 which is using the amex offer at Harvey Norman. This is for the grey one with Mario Odyssey. Pretty happy with that and picking up from Northland hopefully soon

  • +1

Have just done; thank you everyone.

Was about to order through Amazon, as EB Games wouldn't price match on BigW's $367 price (of a week ago). I believe Harvey Norman is now offering $399 too.

  • guys should I wait till boxing day for better deals (assuming there will be), or should I get one now?

    • +1

Yes a tough one there. If you are not going to play it on Christmas Day then it may be worth waiting.

  • +1

You can also buy JB vouchers at a % off to get a further discount.

    • Yes, I was thinking of that before, but they would not allow multiple $10 off coupons for every $100 gift card, or I would have used this method. (I rang them last week to confirm) Also cannot buy console on the same day as you buy the JB gift cards. So only $10 off and return the next day.

      • I don't mean that 'deal'. I meant from other users wink wink.

        • Oh okays; nudge nudge. 👀

  • +1

    Begun, the Amazon wars have.

  • Harvey Norman has now come to the party, $399;

    https://www.harveynorman.com.au/nintendo-switch-console-neon…

Edit: didn't see the post from Medi above…

    • Yet oddly enough it's only for the Neon console.

  • +1

This is a great deal if you are after just the console. These $399 deals aren't quite as good as the Gamesmen bundles we've had over the last few weeks though.

    • Yes I am fairly certain I paid $300 for the GameCube (2000?), Wii and WiiU … well, they all still work fine! So not too inflated a price really. At least the Wii was backward compatible too.
