Great, worked for me, thanks for the heads up.

    Dunkirk here I come!

Bloody hell! I just spent 6$ yesterday to rent Dunkirk!.

      • Should have tries video ezy kiosk, they have free movie promo code going right now

      • Same thing 2 days ago.

  • Worked for me too

  • Yep all good here too…

  • Can I rent a movie and then play it on an android TV? Or only my phone? What resolution are these movies?

  • +1

Exceuse my idiocy, but once you've rented it how does it work to watch it? I'm assuming you can't just DL the whole movie and transfer it wherever you need, so does it stream in some sort of app/browser?

I ask as I normally just hook my laptop up to my (non-smart) TV via HDMI cable (entirely to watch Survivor via 9Now!), I'm wondering if this would still work with these Google Play rentals…

    • +1

Yeah, it streams from the google play movies app. My android phone has a download option though, for offline watching. Also works fine for me playing from a PC.

Can also watch on YouTube app. Works on my Telstra TV, for example, which does not have Google Play apps

        • +1

Cheers buddy had no idea you could do that :)

      • +1

You can do the same - hook your laptop up via HDMI, then go to Google play in your browser (can get to play via G-mail)

This is a major drawback of movies purchased on Google play - you cant download them to a PC and then watch them. If your internet sucks then you will be buffering throughout or worse, you would have paid for HD but due to your network, the quality will be downgraded.
Unless there is a discount, I seldom buy from Google play. All my purchases are from iTunes which DOES allow you to download the movies.

Ah, great to know! Yep, my internet is pretty ordinary ADSL2+, watching Survivor it's ok-ish but regularly drops to pixely low resolution and back again… pre-DLing would be a real huge benefit for me :)

Can download on Android, iOS and Chromebooks:
"Download Google Play movies and TV shows onto your Android and iOS devices or Chromebook, so you can watch without a Wi-Fi or mobile data connection."

    • Yes, agree no downloading is annoying. Was watching American Made the other night, and it cut out a few times. Especially annoying in the last few minutes - come on - so close to finishing!

  • Thanks OP. Me and parents accounts got it :)

Going to watch Kingsman: the golden circle soon :)

  • Thanks OP. Redeemed on all 4 of my accounts

  • Hmmm. Mine doesn't work. Wonder why

  • Only worked on 1 of my 2 accounts.

  • Doesn't work on any of my three accounts. Sadface, but good for those who can redeem it.

Your account isn't eligible for this offer.

    • Tried 5, worked on 4 of them.

Create a new Google account and try that one perhaps?

  • Sweet. Ninjago and Kingsman here i come :)

  • Thanks OP. Got 3 TV eps.

    • No worries, but you should probably be thanking TRENT86 for that.

      • Whoops! Got the bargains mixed up. My account was showing both the 99c movie rental and the up to 3 TV shows to buy for 99c each. The movie rental deal disappeared after I bought the 3 TV shows. I guess google think I have got enough out of them for 1 day.

Cheers OP great find wouldn't have known otherwise :)

  • Just in time for my birthday today! :D
    (no joke)

      Happy Birthday!

Please tell us you took full advantage of all the birthday deals and didn't pay for food at all today.

If you did, hand in your ozbargain badge and cease all activity on this site immediately.

      • Being that my birthday almost always coincides with XMAS parties, I get a lot of free food throughout the week anyway.

  • thanks mate. Just rented Dinkirk. 99c. A great treat for the weekend

      Fair Dinkirk mate 😊

  • What's the difference between the two dates? "Offer ends 2 January 2018." and "Redeem by 14 January 2018."

    • +2

The last date you can claim the $0.99 rental (it will be saved in the Rewards section of your account) is 2 Jan. You then have until 14 Jan to actually rent & pay for the movie.

      • Oh, cool, done, thanks.

  • Worked for me. Thank you.

  • Claimed a 4K title for my Ultra. Paid for from my accumulated Google rewards. Thanks OP!
