Telecube NBN Special - 100/40 1000GB $70 - $49 Setup Fee Credit Refund

1450

Howdy Ozbargainers .. here's some discounted internet for you :-)

https://www.telecube.com.au/internet/nbn/plans/special/ozbar…

The headline acts:
100/40 1000GB $70/month
50/20 1000GB $60/month
25/5 1000GB $50/month

The data allowances are anytime and uploads are unmetered.

The setup fee will be automatically credited back to account balance and available to use in future month charges, not refundable as cash.

We've been adding decent numbers of services of late and there has been some rumblings about the support processes, I believe we are on top of it now, we've added staff and are continuing to make system changes and I believe the road forward should be relatively smooth.

We've built the network out to Melbourne, Sydney, Perth and Brisbane now and have capacity to grow into at all sites.

I've just reduced the expiry date to 13th March. We will be running some more specific speed and data offers later in the week.

      • Yep showing for me, cheers.

        • Just got my invoice for the new month, seems like the setup credit did not apply to my account and I have a bill for $119.01 instead of $70?

        • +1

@1jwoz: can you message me your details please?

  • Total newb when it comes to NBN so have a few questions. Currently with Belong on their basic month to month NBN plan. There are times when it is soooooo slow during evenings, don't ever recall it being that bad when it was ADSL2+. Streaming is sometimes just continual buffering. Is the problem the provider or the building i'm in? Would changing provider make any difference?

    thanks

    • Belong has a reputation for what you describe: evening/peak-time speed congestion.
TC doesn't have this problem (its specific to the service provider, assuming you're not on a congested Fixed Wireless tower).

      • Thanks Viper for your response. To move between providers does one require a tech to come over to the building like I had to have originally or just signing up with TC essentially cancel one service and start the new one straight away? Or is there some downtime involved?

        cheers

        • Nope. That tech visit is just to get onto NBN. Once you're on things are done remotely (depends on your technology type) and down time can be anywhere from non-existent (FTTP) to hours (FTTN) to a day or two (HFC) I believe.

  • Sorry if i missed this somewhere…

Can you easily move between these plans and will these be available at a later date? ie, if i sign up to 50/20 but later decide i want to upgrade to the 100/40, would i still be able to get the 70 price? same goes for if i wanted to downgrade.

    • +1

You'll be able to change between available plans at the time.

  • OP, I've signed up and ordered at TC and I've just submitted a cancellation with ABB. Not sure what I need to do now.

But I'm looking at the Manage NBN Service page and it says that my plan has already started and the first month will end on 7/4? A little confused here since I haven't got the service set up yet.

    • Your status should say pending if you've just added it and the graphs don't mean anything until the service goes to provisioned,

      • Ok, so there's nothing I need to do then? It'll all be automatic as soon as ABB cancels?

        • Without know exactly your details I can't be sure but if you're concerned about something please email support and ask

  • Im on NBN via HFC.
If i was to churn over, how long does it take, and what's the expected outage?
Does anyone know? or have a rough guide.

Ive read on WP and it seems its quite tedious, and expect a day or two outage.

    • +1

Asked earlier, 1 to 2 days minimum. You must cancel your service before you signup.

  • For Blacktown 2148, would you be Layer 2 or Layer 3?, and if L3 who's the provider?

Moving to TC from Skymesh since getting Peak Time Slowdowns.

    • Layer 2 everywhere and we use vocus for our backhaul

      • IS vocus doing alright now as it should have allot of issues earlier?

  • Is Static IP address included for an Opticomm setup ? Or is that $10 extra ?

    • It's not included but you can add a static ip for $5.50 per month

      • Thanks. For Opticomm in Victoria (West), what is the nearest POP. The only reason I am contemplating to Move as Exetel routes it via Sydney

        • The POP is in Melbourne

  • Is this for NBN wireless too? assuming so since the website doesn't say only FTTN/FTTP….
do you have a POP (or whatever it's called in NBN) in Adelaide?

    • It is available for fixed wireless and Adelaide services will connect through Melbourne at the moment.

      • thanks. I created an account then when it prompted me to change my password it now just says "session_expired" all the time so I can't login.

      • and you can get 50/20 on wireless I take it? some ISPs don't seem to offer it

  • Waiting for AussieBB to reply with what their cancellation policy is before I sign up - there seems to be nothing on their FAQ / Support pages.

    • +1

Cancel, and that's it. You don't get anything back for the current month though. You can cancel as late as the night before your next billing cycle starts.

      • -2

This is not correct. They require 30 days notice.

        • +1

Wrong. Whilst that is what their policy says, their CEO Phil Britt has said what I just repeated above on several occasions, and many people whom churned over from ABB to TC just over a month ago (myslef included) can confirm this.

        • Better cancel soon then.

        • So it's in their policy but you say their own policy is wrong? Ok.

        • +1

          @1jwoz:

Yes, it is actually (I did just say that…).
Here it is straight from the CEO himself:
          https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=2687900&…
And again, myself and MANY others can confirm this is true, given we churned out of ABB without providing 30 days notice and yet did not incur any additional charges.
But you go ahead and believe whatever you want to believe. :)

      • There is no outline of the process on how to cancel either. It would be much easier if it was similar to porting mobile numbers, but I'm assuming I need to cancel first and wait until it's fully disconnected until I sign up for Telecube.

        • You only need to cancel first if you're on HFC. If you're on FTTP you can have up to 4 services running simultaneously. If on FTTN then wait until your new service is running before canceling ABB.

  • My NBN (FTTN) will be available btw April-June (source NBNCO), can I sign up now and automatically connected when available?

Currently with TPG adsl2, should I tell them anything?

    • You got to write to TPG 30 days in advance as otherwise they will keep charging you.

  • Not bad. So it's $1 extra but uploads no longer counted, so I can use Onedrive again? When is that deal valid for? I'm not talking about the setup fee refund, but the $70 for unmetered uploads?

    Still have unmetered off peak?

    • No unmetered off peak downloads with this deal.

      • Eh..

Guess I'll wait and see what else you do next then.

  • -1

    No unmetered netflix ?

    • +1

      All downloads are metered.

  • Telecube site… down?

    • umm nope don't think so

      • +1

I keep getting session_expired errors trying to log in

        • The portal sessions are tied to an ip address, if you are on a connection that changes ip you will be logged out of the session.

Another potential cause is your account needs to be manually verified, email support please if the problem persists

  • Does anyone know if Telstra refunds or doesn't fully charge for a month if you disconnect at the start of a billing cycle? My NBN contract ran out in November and it's just been going on a month to month thing. I just signed up for this deal but my telstra bill cycle is the 8th or 9th of the month.

CONNECTED !!! All in 3 hours !! Remember you need change your modem settings to PPPOE and input your username and password to be connected ….

    • I was told 2-3 business days as my ABB bill cycle is due on Monday, so have added a note for start of April.

      • I was with ABB too …… my billing cycle starts tomorrow so i just cancelled ABB straight away before new connection of Telecube. ABB has the worst customer service too , so rude ! Glad to leave !!

  • hello cam

  • Hi Store Rep. does the all plan included VOIP? or is a separate?

    • Free DID and PAYG calls

  • Hi Rep, Can you confirm if the speed in Brisbane southside(post code 4116) is good or bad? it's FTTP. I am with TPG(5o/20Mbps) ATM and not very happy with the speed at after 8PM. Be happy to switch if the speed is good. Tks

    • On FTTP there's no reason you shouldn't receive full speeds. What you're describing is congestion, come over here and I'm very confident that will go away :-)

    UPDATE:

Ordered this morning @ 11am. Now 5PM and it's all gone through and setup (awesome turnaround). Went for 50/20 - Speedtest looks good (45/16), and so far happy customer.

Saving $5/month for double the speeds and double the download limit compared to Aussie Broadband… pretty damn happy.

Living in Southbank, VIC for anyone interested.

Could you let me know how can you cancel your ABB? Only via phone call?

Can you choose the date to terminate service from ABB? My first day of billing cycle is 18 Mar, can I choose 15 Mar to cancel ABB then sign up new TC NBN?

      • +1

Not sure of other options, but I called them up and cancelled (short and sweet, 2-3 mins).

Not sure about choosing the date. My renewal date is 11th of March. I changed over to Telecube yesterday (8th March) and then called today to cancel (9th). Given the short time frame doesn't matter too much.

If you were halfway through a billing period I'm not sure if you could specify. But probably just lose your half a month worth of internet and live with it.

        • Many thanks for your information,

I will give them a call this afternoon.

          Have a good weekend!

        • I just called them, all good, set the cancelling date on 17 Mar.

Yes, short and sweet, totally in 10 min including the waiting time. ABB service is quite well just the price is a little higher than average.

          Anyway, thanks again.

Then it's time to sign up Telecube and try.

  • Hi OP.

Looking to sign up, but later in the year…
Is there a time limit when we must join by?

(Happy to prepay the setup fees and first month, just have already setup internet for a new months (prepaid it).

Also, any fees for payment via credit card?

Finally, is the 25/5 XL 500GB able to be joined with the setup fees credited?

    Thanks.

  • Any fast wifi router modem that you can recommend ?

  • FTTN will be connected btw April-June, any good modem or router is recommended under $300? Currently using TP link D9 for adsl2+, read somewhere it can’t be used for FTTN.

  • Signed up today. Setup fee credit comes up as $44.55 and not $49 in my account?
This is what it says under my account?
Any system credits waiting to be applied at the next billing cycle will be listed here.
$44.55 Special offer [ozbargain] setup credit refund for <username>

    • +1

It's just reporting the exgst amount .. you will receive $49 .. I'll get the display fixed up. Sorry for the confusion.

      • All good. Thanks.
Connected in like 5 hours after order was pretty good. Speed is around 46/18 on 50/20 plan which is good as well.

      • Same here, Just signed up a $65 100/40 500G plan. Pending credit '$44.55' :)

        Another question, Rep,

I just added a note 'activate service on 16 Mar 2018', is it enough if I want to transfer service from ABB on next Friday?

  • Wish there was a all inclusive bundle that included internet and phone line with unlimited call to local, national and mobile or a option to select your NBN plan then add a home line plan. Would be much easier process and easier to compare to other providers

    • Yeh sorry, we're probably not going to offer that, any bundled plans means the lower usage customers subsidise the high use customers and I think it's a much fairer solution if you just pay for what you use with reasonable PAYG rates.

      • If it's optional, the low usage customers simply won't take the unlimited plan, so they aren't subsidizing anyone.

If you want to be truthful about it, just say that you don't think a plan like that is profitable. Don't make it about an issue of fairness, because it's not. The low usage people will go PAYG, the high usage people will take unlimited. These days people use unlimited mobile plans anyway because they're cheap, so I don't expect that many people to abuse unlimited plans.

        • Making it optional isn't something we would consider as that isn't profitable. We would only offer one or the other and we chose to offer PAYG

        • @telecube: Well that's a start.

Others offer it and seem to be ok with, but it's your choice I guess.

        • @lostn: just go to a VoIP provider. There's many options for what you're after

        • @TarquinOliverNimrod: I'm not after anything. I just want honesty. He was willing to meet half way, so I can accept that.

PAYG is the most expensive way to get anything if you use it more than occasionally, so it's obvious why it he chose it. He's at least willing to admit it's about profits but it did take some prodding.

Signed up 2 days ago. Any chance I could get the Setup Fee credit refunded?
    Thanks for the deal rep!

  • How do I go about changing over to this deal if I'm already a customer?

Also can I have the setup refunded if I pick the 25/5 500GB?

  • Currently with ABB 100/40, can only get 25/5 on my stupid NBN.

Do you guys have also a VOIP option?

Might swap over to a 25/5 1tb plan with VOIP.

  • Hi Rep, Thanks for the deal,

If I click the link for 'Ozbargain' and sign up with '100/40 500GB $65/month', if I want to choose the cheaper one later, can I get the 'Ozbargain' price again for example '25/5 500GB $45/month' or have to pay '$55' from your original website? Thanks

    • +2

You'll be able to change to special offer plans that are running at the time. Or the standard ones if there's no offers running.

      • Thanks Rep, I got you.

  • Hey there,
I am interested in signing up as I am meant to be getting FTTC in the next month (have started receiving emails from some companies stating so etc)
Can I pre-sign up the 100/40 and would a payment be required straight away or only once it is available in my area? Would love to get NBN going as soon as I can and get rid of this terrible ADSL/2+
    Caroline Springs VIC 3023
    Curious how this would work…
    Thanks!

    • +1

You can sign up now, just select FTTN as the technology type

      • Thanks, appreciate the response!

      • I signed up even though my RFS date isn't until next Friday (was supposed to be today, but got pushed back), and I got an email from one of your techs questioning why I signed up…

HFC by the way, is that why it's treated differently?

  • Do you guys have a referral scheme ? Also are the assigned Dynamic IP public IPs or hidden ones behind a NAT (where lot of customers share the same public IP ) ?

    • We don't have a referral program at the moment and at this pricing we've no profit to give away anyway :-)

By default services are provisioned as CGNAT but you can add a dynamic IPv4 address to your service in the portal at no cost.

  • "session_expired"

Took me ages to sign up as my session kept expiring.

    Signed up now though.

  • Great deal! Just gave notice @ Skymesh, as its becoming unusable in the evening, they didnt pass on any of the NBN co savings onto their customers and looking forward to my new service. Faster Tier, more Data allowance and $15 a month cheaper. Looking forward to getting on Telecube in 30 days :) Cheers OP

    • Skymesh has unmetered Netflix right (if you watch it) ? This offer ends in 9 days, how you would be able to connect to TC in 30 days ? I might do the same as I am currently with TPG which requires 30 days notice. How would you do that please ? $15 month cheaper - which plan ?
      Thanks

      • In the order notes, i asked to activate my account on a specific date- as to 30 days notice needed to Churn out. Don't watch enough Netflix to clock up heaps of data. Im moving to 50/20, 500G $55 with no setup fee from my current Skymesh plan- 25/10 120G Peak, 180G OPeak $69. Just too congested during Netflix times. Almost unusable, and im on FTTP

        • Cheers

        • @yht: Just to let you know, received an email from Telecube support stating its all booked in for my churn over date :)

  • Hi. Can I confirm if I move plans I'll also have the setup fee refunded? I was just told via support I'd be charged the setup fee as it was $0 on my original plan??

    Hoping that was a mistake?

    • message me your details please

      • Just have. Thanks a lot

  • +1

    OP,

Can we join (and pay now), and select s later start date?

    Ie Aug / September?

    • That's a long way out .. you can if you want to but it's a long wait.

  • Can you still do the $69 100/40 1TB unmetered off peak WP offer with setup fee refund?

Hard to choose between that plan and this one. Neither is perfect. The WP plan counts uploads, so high upload activity is not practical. But this one doesn't have unmetered off peak.

    • The unlimited offpeak option isn't available any more I'm sorry.
