Telecube NBN Special - 100/40 1000GB $70 - $49 Setup Fee Credit Refund

1450

Howdy Ozbargainers .. here's some discounted internet for you :-)

https://www.telecube.com.au/internet/nbn/plans/special/ozbar…

The headline acts:
100/40 1000GB $70/month
50/20 1000GB $60/month
25/5 1000GB $50/month

The data allowances are anytime and uploads are unmetered.

The setup fee will be automatically credited back to account balance and available to use in future month charges, not refundable as cash.

We've been adding decent numbers of services of late and there has been some rumblings about the support processes, I believe we are on top of it now, we've added staff and are continuing to make system changes and I believe the road forward should be relatively smooth.

We've built the network out to Melbourne, Sydney, Perth and Brisbane now and have capacity to grow into at all sites.

I've just reduced the expiry date to 13th March. We will be running some more specific speed and data offers later in the week.

      • Ooh. Looks like I'm staying with my ISP then, or looking at other options. That's a real shame.

  • +1

Wow Telecube are changing their plans around like crazy. Can’t say I’ve ever seen so many complete plan changes by an ISP.

I was definitely more keen on the $69 100/40 1TB plan (like lostn above), but guess both of them are relatively ‘unlimited’ for me anyway. The regular pricing though now on the website is WAY higher than what it was before. Still don’t get the NBN till August so just have to wonder how many more times plans will change between now and then…

  • Two questions:
    1. I am on Telstra HFC. If I switch to TC can I still use my telstra router?
    2. can I choose a connection 9 weeks later, say, 1st of May?

    • Re:

      1. as long as the router isn't locked to Telstra and you can get in and factory reset it and update the PPPoE username and password it should be fine.

      2. you can yes.

      • My Telstra router is a "Telstra Gateway". Can any tell me if this router is locked to Telstra?

      • I have just ordered my service online but found there is no where I can choose my preferred connection date. What should I do now?

        • +1

If you have already submitted the order please email support asap and also message me here

If you are in the process of ordering there is a notes section when adding the service.

  • Hi Rep. I now have ADSL2 and a landline. I want to take 25/5 Mbps 100GB which is currently $45 per month. Do I get $49 set up fee refunded if I go through the Ozbargain site? Is your service available anywhere in NSW (postcode: 2795) where NBN (FTTN) is available? I am happy with PAYG phone plan, can I port my current landline number and what is the cost for porting?

    • "Do I get $49 set up fee refunded if I go through the Ozbargain site?" - yes you do

"Is your service available anywhere in NSW (postcode: 2795) where NBN (FTTN) is available?" - yep it is.

"can I port my current landline number and what is the cost for porting?" - yes it is and the porting fee is $16.50

  • Got question : if we put the installation date 30 days from today, can we cancel the request without charges if we find better deal in between ?

    • Yes you can and we'll refund your payment.

  • This is the worst customer service I have ever used. The technical support never pick up phone calls but sales can. I don't have internet even reset everything and login back using telecube pppoe account.

I tried to call their sales staff to solve the issue twice, but the sales staff told me they can't help me then just hang up the phone!!! TWICE!!!

    • Please message me your details and i will get in touch asap

  • In your posting 25/5 - 1000gb is $50 per month, but when I click on your link it shows the same plan $65. Can explain why is this?

    • you need to click through the link in the opening post of this special to access the special pricing

  • I don't have fttn modem router, can anyone suggest a good wifi router modem? Not netgear d7000 please. Thanks

  • Hi OP, as I am currently with adsl2, we have the download speed of 11mbs and feels ok with the speed for watching netflix, browsing, listen to online music, you tube that are shared with 5 people in the house during peak hour. My question is if I choose the lowest speed of fttn nbn, will I notice any difference in speed at all? Thanks

  • Could someone please recommend a mid range modem router $150 - $300 for FTTN NBN connection, must be VOIP capable. Thank you.

  • An example of the excellent service and response to congestion or network issues:

Two reports from users on WP of speed issues in NSW at 2:32pm yesterday and 9:53am today. One reported speeds of 60 down on a 100 service. The other had high ping spikes.

John M acknowledged the issue at 10:27am today and provided a possible explanation at 10:51am. Updates at 11:46am and 12:36pm on the WP forum.

Issue was identified and rectified by 2:15pm.

There were also 5 status alert emails sent today and updates at http://telecube.io/event-detail.php?id=124

    Fantastic communication and quick resolution.

  • I wish Telecube had provision for hardware supply. People like myself who need a basic voip enabled modem router, and have limited tech expertise, could easily be happy with pre-configured modem like NetComm NF18ACV. Considering the practicality, at least they could have offered this as an option.

After my half a day research, and based on my requirements, I have more or less decided on D-Link DVA 2800 AC1600. This is around $250.

    Any comments from experts

    • You can pick up the NetComm NF18ACV for around $140 and from reports we've had they are a decent router

    • The mantra of this company seems to be, if we don't offer it, you don't need it and shouldn't want it.

In other words, the Apple way.

      • or .. we don't want to make you use our hardware, you can instead use what suits you best ;-)

        • +1

          Options.

          They're never a bad thing.

If you're a total newb (and many people are) you may have trouble setting it up. A router that comes preconfigured is plug and play and almost idiot proof. Some people would pay extra for this.

        • +1

@lostn: Yep def a good idea, we're discussing that internally at the moment, we'll probably offer a pre-configured Netcomm NF18ACV option I think, it looks like a pretty good value all rounder.

        • @telecube:

If I order now, can you wait to activate the connection until you provide me with a pre-configured modem-router. I don't think you understand the importance of a provider supplied pre-configured modem. We will pay for it, so what is your problem?

        • +2

@morningsun: I'll provide you with a Netcomm NF18ACV for $145 incl freight and preconfigured, please allow for that amount when you add credit to your account and add the service.

Please add in the notes when adding the service that I said we will provide a pre configured modem and to not provision the service until we have sent the modem.

        • @telecube:

Thank you for a proactive role. Even though providers will supply same modem router for $119 as they will buy them at wholesale price (e.g., Amaysim), I will definitely take this option. Considering my nightmare experience a few years ago with activating an ADSL provision with a non-configured well -known modem router, I would see this as much better option. By opting for a pre-configured modem router option, I will know that it has most updated firmware, will connect my phone in VOIP setting and the internet will run smoothly. People reported problems to connect VOIP phone to NetComm NF18ACV simply because they failed to follow the instructions properly. I am sure your technical team will test everything well before sending the modem. Thank you again.

        • @telecube: Can you please give an instruction how to setup a modem/router if we don't order the modem from you ?
          Thanks

        • @yht: you will need to add the PPPoE username and password into the modem, most modem/routers have a quick setup or wizard. it is a good idea to factory reset before connecting to our service if you have used the router with a previous provider.

you must disable VLAN if it is not disabled you won't connect

        • @telecube: Thanks, Will Asus DSL-AC68U be compatible with Telecube ?

        • @yht: yep it will

        • @telecube: Cheers. Is your plan included PAYG VOIP by default ? If so, can you please advise the phone call charges per minutes to local, 13, mobile and international calls ? Do you have the link to this information ?
I guess if I would like to use VOIP function, I cannot use Asus DSL-AC68U but will need to use Dlink Talkbox2800 ?
          Thanks

        • @yht: payg voip pricing is here https://www.telecube.com.au/hosted-pabx/prices/

You will need a voip device but that could be a stand alone voip phone with or ata the asus router if you prefer otherwise yep if you want an all in one device then the asus won't do

        • @telecube: Cheers. I notice that there is a charge of $2.95 / month to get a fixed phone number. I am bit a bit confuse here. Wouldn't we will have a phone number when we have a VOIP feature or VOIP is only to make outgoing calls ? Sorry for my amateur-ness. If we are porting our existing phone line number, do you mean if we don't pay $2.95 / month, we will gonna lose that number and no one can ring us on that number ?

        • @yht: we will include a number at no cost with an nbn service. that can either be a number you port across or select from our available numbers.

porting a number across costs $16.50 and you need to tell us you want this to happen, it doesn't happen by default.

        • @telecube: Ok, I have specified my existing number but would like to get rid of it and replaced by a new number (as I only received marketing phone calls), Once I receive the new number, my question is that do we need to pay $2.95 / month for someone to ring our number as per your website comment "If you need a standard local number for the fixed and mobile networks users to call you on. ?

        • @yht: Nope, you will need a number and a voip device configured to receive calls but we'll include the number and incoming calls at no cost with an nbn service.

        • @telecube: Ok, thank you very much for your info.

  • So does the $49 credit refund only apply to all the 1000gb plans? or all the plans under that link? or only the 100/40 1000gb plan?

    Thanks

    • it applies to all plans on the offer page under that link

      • ok, i called your help line and he said it was only for 1000gb plans.. all good, so if I apply for the 500gb 25/5 plan for $45 it will have the $ 49 credit refund? Also I have FTTP, it is best I connect my service up with you then disconnect my old provider? I think thats what I read as the best way?

        • +1

Yep, you'll receive the $49 setup fee credited back for any plans in the offer, not just the 1000GB plans.

With FTTP we'll provision the new service on the next available port and you will need to cancel with your old provider, if you wait for us to provision first before cancelling your old provider then you can switch across without any downtime.

  • After TC, who's the next good NBN provider? But good I mean, monitors CVC and upgrades accordingly so you don't get evening congestion. I'd been wanting to move to TC for about a month now but kept balking, and now the unmetered off peak deal has been rescinded, so I'm in the market for an alternative.

    • AussieBB? But you'll be paying for it.

      • $105 for 100/40 1TB with PAYG calls. That's even more expensive than this.

Would be ok if it had added perks, such as unmetered off peak downloads.

Any other suggestions? What do you think of Buzz?

        • This is the cheapest non-unlimited plan atm. If you wait again, the old deal might come back, with or without setup refund.

        • @TarquinOliverNimrod:

Yeah true. Seems TC's offers are extremely volatile and can be changed at any moment.

        • @lostn: I guess they're trying to drum up more business by having different offerings to cater to different needs? This is the first time they've done unlimited upload.

        • @TarquinOliverNimrod: That would make more sense if they didn't discontinue older plans. That way you would get a picture of what is most popular.

    • I was pretty happy with Leaptel, only changed really cos I could get 50/20 speed for $60pm with Telecube instead of 25/5 for $70 (also went from unlimited to 1TB per month but should be ok as our past usage is around 300GB/month). Happy so far with Telecube - once I realised they used CGNAT and I enabled a normal ipv4 address. Am only averaging around 30/12 though, not 50/20, (was getting about 22/4.5 before) but it's cheaper than I was paying before anyway.

  • We will be running some more specific speed and data offers later in the week.

Could you give us a hint of what you mean? I am worried that one of the new offers can be a better option for me.

    • Not 100% settled at this stage but you can always change if an offer comes up that suits you better.

      • Just checking, this deal is valid until tomorrow 13 March. We can order a service anytime by tomorrow, and if any new deal (as you said comming late this week) is more suitable, we can change the order to a new one.

        • Yep this offer will run through until midnight tomorrow and if we run an offer that you prefer in the future you can change to it if you want to.

  • Just creating an account and I have to call you to manually verify the account. Rang but only able to leave message. That was about half hour ago. Please advise.
    Thanks

    • message me your customer id please or email support

      • PM you

  • More question for you, OP, which maybe already asked/answered. If I choose the $45 for 25/5 500GB this month. Will the charge be reverted back to $55 for the following month or will be kept as $45 ?

    • +1

      it will stay at $45

      • Sweet

  • Hi I've just signed up and it has been noted that the payment has gone through and am now waiting for the manual processing. Given that I am still connected with my old ISP. Belong. Can you suggest what is the most appropriate steps for me to have minimal or no downtime at all? When do I can or notify belong of my cancellation?

    • it will depend on your service type .. are you fttp, fttn/b, hfc ?

      • Currently, I think I'm FTTN. Additionally, I will be moving in 4 months to my home which I'm fairly sure is FTTP as there is an NBN box mounted to the wall outside my house. What will be the procedure for moving premises in that case?

        Thanks again

        • fttn will be a transfer process which will have a downtime of a few minutes to a few hours.

fttp we will provision a new service on the next available port and you can switch your router across when convenient.

        • @telecube: Awesome! Thanks.

Do you know if the Belong Modem which I currently have will be compatible/usable for the time being? Or will it severely bottle neck/shape my speed in any particular way? Only looking to get a new modem when I move into my new house.

        • @gagstx1: It should be fine as long as you can log into it and congfigure the PPPoE details and are able to disable VLAN

When you move into the house with FTTP you just need a router, not a modem

        • @telecube: Searched it up, don't think I can configure from IoPPE to PPoE with my belong modem that I have received. Did Telecube have pre-configured modems for cheap we can purchase? Or if anyone can suggest a modem/router I can used that will be usable when I move into my FTTP home in under 4 months?

          Thanks!

  • Hi Rep, Currently I am with Dodo ADSL2+ but FTTN service is available now. Do I have to cancel DODO first, my main concern is minimal downtime. Also is New Development Fee applicable to me and what modem router you can offer which is pre configured, just plug n play. Thanks

    • Don't cancel first, order NBN and then you will be able to keep the ADSL running right up to the day the NBN tech comes out and switches your line across.

There won't be a new dev fee if you already have a phone line or ADSL connected.

We can offer a pre-configured Netcomm NV18ACV for $145 incl postage.

  • Hi, Rep,

I signed up last Friday (09 Mar 2018). Got an email said

'Unfortunately we can't transfer HFC services from Aussie Broadband.
Your existing service needs to be fully cancelled and then we can reprovision the service.

Please reply to this email when it's cancelled and we'll get the ball rolling for you.
Keep in mind we can only process it on a business day.'

I called ABB to cancel my service on 15 Mar 2018 before I signed up TC, so I have to wait to activate my TC service until fully cancelled ABB? Do I still get prom. plan?

One more small question, do I need to set auto-top up or I can Bpay until I receive the bill via email? Thanks

    • +1

If you have added the service to your account with us already then yep you will get the discounted price.

You can pay manually on the reminders if you prefer, you aren't required to setup auto topup. The system will send email reminders leading up to your rollover date asking you to topup your account balance.

      • Thanks, Rep

I already added the service to my account, paid $49+$65(500G,100/40).

Pay manually is not bad I think.

  • Really appreciate you guys giving info regarding the speed. Looks like most providers not specifying the speed. Even a chat on Amaysim wont disclose speed, why is it such a secret .

  • Hi OP,
Not sure why your people say that they don't sell modem currently when I sent the email to [email protected] ?

    • yeh we haven't been up to now but will be shortly, by the time you need one we will

  • Hi OP, I have another question for you, please. Currently I am opt to choose new number for the connection to be connected a few days before my current adsl end dated. My question is what is gonna happen to my existing number during those few days period in between? Can I still be connected to my adsl as it is connected to my current phone number? Do I have 2 numbers on the same line during those period? Is it better to port my existing number? Thanks

    • It's only necessary to port your existing number if you want to keep it. If you don't then you can just let it go and grab another number from our system

Once the adsl converts to FTTN you'll lose the phone number if you haven't ported it.

      • It means that I also lose connection with my adsl if I change the number? Or either way, I will lose adsl connection one nbn is connected ? Tried to get new number to avoid telemarketing and porting fee (as a true ozbargainer will do :))

        • yeh you will lose the adsl and number once the fttn is connected .. if you want a new number just let the old one go and select a new number from out lists

        • @telecube: how do we get the list please?

  • Just completed the order. One tip for others: if you are using a credit card for payment, it will validate the card by charging a small amount between $1 and $1.99. The amount is decided randomly. It was necessary to log on to credit card account to get the exact figure and put that amount in the validation box. If someone is using a mobile device, log on to the credit card account simultaneously could be difficult, so keeping another device handy to access the credit account separately for this information will be useful. You will have only one chance to validate the credit card, so keeping this in mind will save you from making a phone call to their customer service and wait for their help.

  • Hi Rep ,i am with TPG NBN FTTB ..do i have to cancel the existing service for switching it to telecube …i have the landline number , i guess the same number can be transferred to telecube by paying extra $16.95. is that Huawei H630 /632 can be configured to use telecube nbn ?

    • Hi, you don't need to cancel first, we will churn the service across. While adding the service include the details of the number you want to port including the current provider and the account number in the notes section at the screen where it is asking you about the tech type.

If the Huawei modem isn't locked and you have access to changing the PPPoE details it should be ok to use with us.

      • Thanks ,how long does it take to change over the connection ?

        • Normally within 24 hours of placing the order you will churn across .. there will be a short downtime of an hour or so during the actual cutover from TPG to us.

        • @telecube: thanks i've signed up ..will i get a new phone line number if i dont choose porting ?

        • @buddyandy: You can choose a number from our lists when you're ready.

        • @telecube: i didnt find any list to choose the number when i signed up ..can you help me on this

        • @telecube: never mind ..found the option

  • Hi OP just placed an order and wanted to check if D-Link AC1600DVA-2800 will work with your service?

    • Yep it looks like it has VDSL and WAN support so it should be fine for whatever connection type you are.

  • I was wondering whether it is posible for Telecube to supply pre-configured D-Link DVA2800 Talkbox modem router for extra payment. This modem has much better wifi coverage. Netcomm NV18ACV is rather a basic modem and some users have reported very limited wifi coverage, no more than 8-10 meter.

    • If it is true,I will also opt in Dlink

    • +1

They're about double the price .. I think people interested in the higher end modems will probably be better off sourcing them locally.

  • D-Link AC1600DVA-2800 is around $240.

  • Amaysim is offering pre-configured NetComm NF18ACV for $109 including freight with their no-contract plans. Telecube’s offer of $145 is a bit overkill. Can’t Telecube arrange wholesale bulk-buying and pass the saving on to their customers?

    https://www.amaysim.com.au/plans/nbn/nbn-modem

    • +1

I'm sorry we don't have the buying power of Amaysim plus I'm quite confident they are loss leading at that price. I don't think you will find anywhere online selling them outright cheaper than $145 delivered.

      • I understand and respect your response. I am simply happy that you have made necessary adjustments to supply a pre-configured modem router. NetComm NF18ACV should be okay as mid range modem and suitable for standard use. You have done an excellent job addressing all our queries with clarity and precision. Have a good night

  • etxended isnt it? or only for wp?
