    • damnit beat me to the post, i was wondering why it was sold out already…because it was posted on ozbargain haha

  • +8

    This is cheap?

    • +14

      $800 for a phone. I'll pass!

      • -1

        Hah, no shit aye.
Why oh why do Apple fan boys buy these shit bricks?

        • +1

What do you use android copies? , shitty nokias? this is the best phone in the world bar none.

        • You really need to try out a few other phones freecandy! :p

        • +1

like what stewballs? i can decode 1080p movies on my phone and watch them in 960x640 can you do that on your phone? would your processor decode 1080p? ,the apple a4 is a wonderstroke mate like i said what should i use a shitty android rip off lol

        • i knew it your just an android fanboy ha, if it wasn't for the original iphone you wouldn't even have your shitty unresponsive touchscreen android knock-offs anyway. LMAO

        • umm… HTC Desire HD or the US alternative HTC Evo seriously best phone on the market.

        • freecandy, the apple A4 incorporates the ARM Cortex A8 CPU design, the same as most top end android phones.
btw, the phone is not actually decoding 1080p you know that right? why on earth anyone waste space and processing power (and hence battery life) to put 1080p (1920x1080) onto a 960x480 screen is beyond me.
          I know you're a fanboy but geez, it's just a phone, relax.

        • -2

the phone is actually decoding 1080p video…… by putting 1080p video on the iphone 4 you can tap and it zooms in so your watching it in extreme hd even zoomed in see. do you get it now? i know your a moron but geez try to understand it. htc evo is a piece of junk the software doesn't come close to the iphone 4 and the a4 rips any processor on a mobile right now its been proven…. btw its 960x640 i know that's also hard to understand…..lol because android phones don't come near it..

        • +2

ok now i get it sorry i didn't understand you before i was too busy watching justin bieber videos isn't he the best singer in the world?

        • haha freecandy… you want to zoom in on a movie in 1080p? why?

  • +2

bought one, bargain of the year.

  • +1

too cheap, cannot find this price anywhere around the world with stock on hand.

  • +8

    It says RESEALED.

I am worried about that word.

    • +6

      That's why I don't trust grey's

      • +7

I read that as "That's why I don't trust gheys" and thought "come on man, it's 2010, get with the times".

But no, stuff Greys. Also the aliens with the big black eyes.

      • +4

There are countless Grey's horror stories listed on Whirlpool.

        • +1

There's been alien abductions on WP too? :o

  • Did they ever fix the rotten reception issue (properly)?

    • +4

      Nope

      • -1

Why on earth would you buy this then (for anywhere near that price)? Talk about a dud product (and I'm a Mac user).

        • +2

What on earth are you going on about, have you even used this phone? This issue has been blown out of proportion, it's anything but a dud, it's the finest iPhone to date

        • +3

When the reception issue was brought up is was a big deal. I haven't been following what's been happening with it so I wanted to know if it's been solved with anything other than the 'slap it in a bigger case' solution (a bodge). Because I live in an area where coverage is an issue I don't want a phone with impaired reception.

'Not a big issue here' does not reassure me.

Oh and 'I get great reception here in Sydney/Melbourne' isn't a help.

        • Fair enough. First of all most people use a case so the issue is mute. But like you I prefer not to use a case, so you simply avoid putting your finger on the bridging point when you're holding it. If I hold the phone naturally the way I normally would, it's easy for me to avoid this.

        • I think that this is one of those "bargains" that focuses more on the perceived quality of the product, rather than the relative price.

Like you, I don't think that this is a bargain at all. $800 for a phone is, in fact, extremely expensive. However, if you like Apple and believe that their product is a superior offering, then yes you will consider this to be a bargain.

        • +1

I'd be using a case for sure for when I drop it. I use a Nokia 6250 now (had it for years) - 'The Builders Phone', because it's water proof and you can drop it from 3 metres onto concrete. Telstra plans have always been too expensive to use the fancier features an iPhone has. It's only in the last year or so they have become reasonable.

        • Who wouldn't use a case on the iPhone 4 anyway, the entire thing is made of glass and worth AT LEAST $809.95.

I have one BTW and love it, just buy a damn case..

        • I don't use a case on my iphone 4. The thing is sexy as. Why would you want to put a clunky case over it, making it an ugly fat phone?

Dedicated pocket, front and back film protection. That is all.

Reception issues? Never been an issue for me, I am on Optus, and also frequently in the country. If you are curious, yes, you will see the bars drop when you grip it, but in no way does this affect voice or data. I have never had to hold my phone awkwardly so the issue IS blown way out of proportion - most sufferers of the issue were yanks with the inferior AT&T network.

    • +2

only a problem if you're in US. Wasn't a big issue here.

      • +7

Exactly. The problem experienced in the US was specific to a certain frequency band that Australian telcos don't use. I've had no issues at all with reception on mine in Australia, but did experience low signal strength when in the US recently.

        • +1

actually the iPhone is only available with AT&T in America (uses the same bands as Telstra) the issue is that seemingly they have crap coverage everywhere so the signal is very weak to begin with.

        • i cannot death grip mine for my life .

      • I've had issues with mine. Didn't believe it until I was playing around on 3G in the city and I was dropped via that 'death grip.' It's not a major issue if you use a case or hold it in the right hand (I usually hold it in the left while I navigate with my right), but it IS a real issue. It's just up to customers to ask themselves if they can live with it or not.

    • +6

The reception issue really is no big deal. I've used it for months it's a beautiful phone!

    • +1

No, that's why i'm waiting for the next one… only about 6 months away now… :P

      • I've had no reception problems with mine at all.

    • I've got an iPhone 4, and sure, wrapping your whole hand around the left side of the phone drops the signal level 1 or 2 bars. Yet, I don't know anyone who holds a phone this way. My left handed friends don't report any problems with their iPhone 4s either.

      • I'm right-handed and always hold the phone in my left hand while navigating with my right index finger and have noticed 3G drop. Maybe it's just a personal thing, but anyone who holds their phones this way should be prepared for signal issues.

  • +1

just bought 2 (limit) thankyou ebay :D

  • +1

????brand new????or used and returned ones?

afraid of some tricks with it, anyone can explain?

  • -1

WTH Why is a phone at $800 considered a bargain of the year??? Because its Apple?…

    • +7

Because it normally sells for $1000 and discounts are rare, that's all!

    • +3

no, because its 999$ usually. 199$ less is definitely a bargain, as long as it is "brand new"

  • +1

    is it brand new ?

    • +2

      Claimed to be brand new.

They are brand new in box*, with full 12 months warranty.

      Just ordered 2 myself.

      • +1

but it says resealed, must someone used it before…

        • See Rainy118's comment.

  • just called the website, the customer care officer stated that the phone had never been used before. It was only opened and repacked for sell. not sure why they opened it on the first place.

    • that's pretty odd, they opened it, but never used? what's the point?

      • +1

They opened it to unlock it.

These Apple iPhones are from a cancelled corporate order and have been unlocked by the provider for use on any network.

        • -1

I believe it is not necessary to open box to unlock the iphone. It is done online, i.e over the network. All iphones comes unlocked and once you insert the the SIM it get locked to that network unless it is previously unlocked.May be they want to check something. Or it may be returned when Apple offered a refund.

      • I'd say they had packed some corporate stuffs (such as marketing flyers…) in side. and now they just took the stuffs out for re-sale. I bought the DORO coreless phone from them before, never seen any problems.

    • +4

Considering the Greys horror stories on Whirlpool, I'd be extremely cautious. Plus, if the package was opened and the unit turned on, the serial number could be found and be used in a one-off call to Apple Care to claim the bumper.

So if you really want that free case, be wary with this deal.

      • free case

I got the phone from Virgin so can I get this free case? If so how to do it?
Please post the link if you have it.

  • Thanks , the cheapest on ebay is $969 !!

  • BE WARNED: Graysonline saved your credit card number. I asked them to delete my credit card detail from my account but they told me it is in T&C that they saved your credit detail and the ONLY way to delete them is closing your account.

I can't believe this, they are NOT Paypal and I don't trust their security to store my credit card detail on their webserver. This is a hugh risk !!!!

  • +2

    Only UMTS 850/2100?

    Shouldn't it have UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA 850/900/1900/2100?

    • anyone may explain this?

      • It is probably a good sign. It means these are Tel$tra ones. iPhone 4 supports quad band 3G (so regardless which provider you pick, you can use the 3G without any issue). It also explains why they need to re-seal them. If they received them from Tel$tra originally, these probably would not be sealed in the first place.

Only way to tell is to have one of those lucky buyers to check the bookmarks on the browser to see if there are some Bigpond related bookmarks.

  • +2

They most likely have to open it, to class it as an import item. Thus not having to charge GST on items below $1,000.

That being said a good price if you want one, but I'd go for a HTC Desire HD.

  • +3

still watching you guys, 200 bucks lower seems too good for a never used iphone 4..

resealed but never used….cannot believe it.

  • +1

If i didn't like it, will I be able to sell it on ebay with the same price ?

  • This item is out of stock

  • I don't know if this counts as a used iPhone..what do you all think?

  • had it in cart.. now sold out… DAMMMMNNN IT

  • All gone

  • +1

    IMO, not worth it ..

many new phones around the corner .

  • sold out? wooh….

    • OOS

  • yep, sold out

  • Good deal but sold out…

Guess it's a sign to wait for the HTC HD7 =)

  • +1

"The World’s hottest iPhone yet" true…. cuz the phone does get pretty hot after using it for awhile -_-.

  • "This item is out of stock"…Gone!

  • pass… oh they're all gone? oh well, I didn't miss out on anything then.

  • that was quick!!! I wonder how many they sold in an hour.

  • Any chance I could run Android on this? :p

    • +2

Not on the iPhone 4 just yet (works on the iPhone 3G, though), but possibly in the future: http://www.idroidproject.org

  • Wow, even graysonline can be "ozbargained" in less than an hour.

  • I just checked it out, and was able to add it into my cart - seems like it's back in stock?

  • Sold out? I put it in my cart and got to the stage it almost charged me?

  • Also rang grays to confirm. Product was opened, tested and resealed. That is all

  • +1

From what I understood, the phone was opened for unlocking purposes. Hence the re-seal. Most importantly, it comes with 12 months warranty, it'll be interesting to see what the warranty date is registered with Apple.

    • iPhone unlock works differently than standard phone unlock. The phone IMEI needs to be registered in one of Apple's databases. You don't need to open the box to unlock it. The IMEI can be obtained form the box itself. I'd rather sync the phone myself and see the message from iTunes indicating the phone is now unlocked. Anyway, maybe that would confuse some people.

I think they needed to re-seal it probably because these are from Telstra originally. When you get a new iPhone form a T-shop, it is normally not sealed. Maybe because Telstra wanted to put some bookmarks in the browser.

  • +1

Just received my tracking number, should arrive before Xmas. Can't wait!

  • If it was for a corporate rollout, they were probably taken out of the box so a pre-configured profile for the business could be applied.

  • A year or two from now that phone will be on sale for 200 bucks

    • Unlikely. iPhone 3G 16GB which was released 2 years ago are still selling around $350 on average in eBay.

  • +1

Sold out, please stop arguing. Please continue any Apple VS adroid arguments in the forums :)

If anyone else wants to comment one the iphone arrives, report this comment and let the mods know

  • I'm reopening commenting on this thread as per request from a member who bought one.

However please remain civil in the discussion, and any arguments on apple iOS vs android will be removed and may lead to a ban.

  • Thanks mods,

Hi guys, I bought the phone from Grays, arrived last Thursday which was quite quick, was able to get a Micro sim today from my existing Vodafone 3GS plan. Activated my microsim, and it did not work on the iPhone 4, says "invalid sim". It seems to be still locked to Teltra 9.0 in the settings menu. Anyone else having the same issue? I tried calling telstra providing the IMEI number, they have confirmed it is locked, but cannot unlock for me as its under someone else's name.

    • Woww…

    • dont worry, all fixed, just called Grays today, gave me a direct Telstra phone number to call. Unlocked straight away, all sweet!
