I will go and have a look after work.

    • That barcode is different. Look at the first 4 bars on each

      • I'm just going by the numbers below the barcode in the OP's pic.

        • +1

Their are different types of barcode symbology

        • @Danstar:

Good to know. Now can you or someone else try make one which uses the correct symbology?

        • @mini2: Best way to know is to test it with the machines they use

Just use the Stocard app and scan the barcode on the attached photo in this deal
it will generate the barcode and store in the app
Then scan the barcode with your mobile phone :)

I seriously doubt if the original posted picture is reusable. To avoid this you will probably have to surrender the voucher, but you dont have a voucher. You might get lucky, but then again you might not. And given Coles is generally for expensive, is it worth the risk. And yes you can buy a few litres to try. I would at least wait to see if someone else wins or loses with this deal.

        • @RockyRaccoon: The poster mentioned the barcode is generic so the barcode should be reusable for multiple times (if the statement is true)

Whether the store will accept it depends store rep I think but the code should works by scanning it in the Coles Express POS barcode scanner.

        • @kungbernard: Agree, with this possibility, but the item also says can be used with a 4c voucher. Plus it says limited to 150 Litres, the same as on those vouchers. Bit starnge they take the 4c voucher and leave you with a 20c voucher to reuse.

Of course the operator might not care. Depending on how clear any use instructions by head office are.

I was just pointing out, that if you use it and get knocked back, your savings now mean a loss as Coles fuel is mostly more expensive. And given that, your gain overall will be small.

Hence my advice towait for someone (or 2/3) else to report back. šŸ˜€

        • @RockyRaccoon: Read _Mark comment below. They got rejected because no physical copy (also see comment about urgent fax)

The fact they mentioned every state is going to end in tears. I'm suprised they didn't say it was only valid at the Shell Express closest to the grand prix - that way they could 'run out' of 98.

    • +7

Unlikely given that even with 20c off Shell is more expensive than my local and has been for months

      • +1

Yeah. Actually, a quick check shows the 7-11 + Fake GPS will probably be less hassle and equal cost, unless you are of the belief that Shell > Mobil and wish to take the risk of them saying no.

      • Maybe where you are. Where I am, the local servo is on par with the big companies. Often it's the woolies/caltex servo that's the cheapest, before the 4c discount. Other times they're the cheapest after the discount.

        • Correct, I should have said all other brands locally are cheaper. All are 10-25c cheaper than Coles.

Coles has the honour of being the most consistent. ULP at 148.9 for the past 2-3 months. (Never changed during that time)

        • @RockyRaccoon: I filled up last night after having a 4c off a litre and buying milk and butter in store to make it 8c off a litre for the total of $1.01/L
          QLD…
I drove up the road two suburbs away and it was $1.49

      • Agreed. The local Coles petrol station in Narrabeen (right next to Woolies petrol) is 20 cents dearer at the moment. Every Coles Express that I have seen seems to be exactly the same price for fuel (right across Sydney maybe?) and they are all consistently dearer than every other fuel station, at least in my observations!

Its a great saving for us Diesel users though :)

Hope to try it tonight myself

    • I would like to +ve this comment, but keep getting a message "24-hour limit for voting positive on comments is currently capped at 33 for your account"

Anyone else see the same thing? Whats going on?

      • +5

here you go… ive given a +ve vote on your behalf.

        • Yay. I tried now and and Iā€™m able to +ve again!

        • @hashtagbargain:

          to fellow Diesel users:

          where do you fill up?

I find that 7 eleven or sometimes United are cheaper.

BP and coles are the same price (post coles discount). I always go with BP because they have me believing that their fuel is better. Is it really worth paying more for Shell/ BP/ Caltex rather than going to 7-eleven?

        • @Zinger:

The thing with Shell diesel is it's not listed as 'premium' like Caltex/7-eleven/BP.
This is based off the NRMA app for fuel prices so makes me wonder if Shell's diesel isn't as good?

7-eleven is Mobil fuel and they are generally pretty trustworthy too

        • @Zinger:
I've run Caltex vortex since getting my diesel and get a constant 840-880km per tank vs 780km at BP the one time I did fill up there.
Maybe be other contributing factors, but the car is driven pretty much the exact same road 5 days a week at the same time, same traffic.

        • @linton:

wow. massive difference. Will give that a try this week.

    • What's v-power diesel?
Is that just standard diesel like vortex diesel is to woolworths?

  • Redeemable with Coles 4c off per litre also!

My local Coles Express has 91 for $1.50 at the moment, while every other station has it for $1.19. That probably makes their 98 fuel about $1.65 to $1.70/L. Take 20c off and they're only much more expensive than everyone else.

A friend works at Coles Express and says he's been verbally abused and even threatened with violence over the ridiculous prices Coles charges.

    • Coles just seem to rise their prices a few days before everyone else and don't ever get quite as cheap at the bottom, maybe 5c/L short.

    • Wow. Some people really take those 4c vouchers seriously.

Does this deal require purchasing a ticket to Grand Prix ?

would be keen to hear if anyone's successful using this print out

    • Thanks for pulling that together, would've done it myself but I'm busy watching fast cars!

    • Thanks. I'll try it tonight!

    • Thanks thydzik, printing it off and trying it tonight

      • +2

        Scanned but no discount applied.

  • How is the GP?

  • +17

Reporting that I just got rejected trying this.

They scanned the barcode and it didn't discount fuel. Also a message appeared on their screen.

The attendant said she needed a physical copy and I also saw an "urgent" labelled fax with details about this offer, and the need for a physical copy.

    • Oh wow. There goes my plan.

    • +3

I also saw an "urgent" labelled fax with details about this offer, and the need for a physical copy.

Some executive from Shell must be monitoring this thread.

When will THEY learn. OzBargain has a very large and loyal followers. When someone says "jump" it can sometimes equate to a DoS on a website (or fuel bowser).

I had an idea to tape the barcode to the back of my flybys card.

edit: actually, that wouldn't work if manual input is required.

  • +4

Too bad prices are going up by 20c/L this weekend

  • Refused and rude.
Go in store and check first before filling up.

  • +2

Heads up, Just got a 10c off per litre offer in my flybuys for Vpower petrol or diesel. Fingers crossed it's combinable!!

    • Was going to mention this but thought to check to see if someone else had the same targeted email.

  • Has anyone been successful in redeeming this offer with just the barcode?

  • i can confirm that to get the discount we need physical voucher. just liks 4 c supermarket voucher.
attendants are not allowed to scan digital vouchers.

  • CAn someone do a digital mock-up so we can print? Please? Lol

  • I went to the F1 yesterday, obtained the voucher. The voucher didn't work though, the attendant tried several times, it beeped but didn't affect the price.

The attendant confirmed that it appeared valid though not registering. They discounted the price manually so all was fine in the end.

  • Does it have to be v-power diesel? All of the Coles express near me only have standard shell diesel. Anyone had it work with standard diesel? I picked up the voucher at the gp so have physical voucher.

  • Trying this cost me about $20. Scans but no discount. Can't be generic if single use.
