[QLD] Click Energy 30% off Electricity for Both Usage and Supply

120

I flicked Click Energy to go to Alinta Energy for a saving and Click predictably rang me to offer me an even better deal.
I was on their Opal plan but they now offered the new 'Mercury' plan which, for my modest usage and no solar, is the cheapest electricity I can find in the market!

It's a 30% pay on time discounts of both usage AND supply. It's discounted from their standing offer rates.

Equates to 21.329c per kWh and 89.32c per day

It's not advertised so you'll have to ring and ask for it, not sure of their eligibility but the attached shows it's an available plan

With 100% credit and thanks to Ozbarginer adam (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/user/596) you can compare all providers with this amazing spreadsheet (save a copy, unhide to see)
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1AzwNrB-WxIYhCXjTUww3…

I'm in SE QLD (Energex), not sure of availability in other areas so listed deal as QLD only unless someone can correct me.

Click are not too popular among some users and I found they took ages to reply to a simple email query but they sure are cheap so still worth considering.

You can also get $50 referral credit ($25 off 1st bill, $25 of after 12 months) but you'd have to ask to apply on phone as this plan isn't advertised

sooo … is it cheaper or not ?

30% discount means nothing if the rates after 30% still higher than alintas after 28%

    • Sorry just added the costs. It's cheaper than Alinta for my usages

Atlinta's costs are $0.20592/KWH (Peak) and $1.089 daily charge (AFAIK they don't discount daily charge).

Compared to this offer's 21.329c per kWh and 89.32c per day.

Retention normally give decent discounts in most of these companies but unfortunately theres typically a 12 month limit on them, which sucks. I struck a decent deal with AGL after trying to leave but it comes to an end soon, but comparing other providers was terrifying, I could not believe the amounts other companies were trying to charge for supply and controlled load 2. Always worth shopping around.

  • Watch out guys, I signed up and the rates went up 4 times in 6 months !!
And at 43c per KWH the most expensive by far, I now pay 30c / kwh and get 27% off

  • OP perhaps amend title to 30% off.

      Done. Cheers

      • Thanks.

  • OP are the 21.329c per kWh and 89.32c per day the already 30% discounted rates? Are they including or excluding GST?
    Also I suppose 21.329 is tariff 11.
Do you know what Controlled Supply Economy – Tariff 33 and Night Rate Super Economy – Tariff 31 are?
    Thank you.

    • They are the discounted rates inc GST from tariff 11.
All eligible tariffs are on the attached list

  • Is that before or after gst

    • Inc GST

  • or you can sign up online and use the code "WINTER" to get $25 off per month for the first 6 months on both gas and electricity. Then you can leave to somewhere else.

    • Plan is not online

Be careful with Click Energy. You won't get the discount on your final bill. This means you are paying the full amount without any discount at all. So pick your lowest bill to move from them.

This is what they said to:

"Please be advised that on-time payment discounts are not applicable on the final bills. This is stated in our Market Retail Terms and Conditions. To learn more about our Market Retail Terms and Conditions, you may visit this link https://www.clickenergy.com.au/pdf/Click_Market_Retail_Terms…

Pretty disgraceful… as well as them hiking bills sharply.

    • A little while ago it was the first bill… The party on time discount was actually a pay on time credit applied to your next bill. Has it change because I created a pretty big stink about that…?

    • That's because it's a pay on time discount. So they could cancel any time as it's not technically part of plan

Click energy is a RORT now after they got bought over by Amaysim. Was with them previously for 3 years and they really jacked up rates as the plan went on. And the discounts are only after your first bill and gets applied to second bill.

Switched to Origin this year and currently enjoying some of the lowest supply charges ever with their 21% off which is already applied with the first bill! Base rate is only like 24c/kwh before the discount.

Alinta's charges were also quite competitive but we use really little energy with a solar heater and gas cooking installed so Origin's plan was slightly cheaper for us.

My location is at Brisbane Bayside.

      What rates and supply charges?

      • Peak/Normal use 24.51c/kwh and 114.19c supply(116.95c including supply for tariff).
Tariff 33 rate 20.48c/kwh (available usually after 9pm till midday for running my pool equipment)

With Click on opal plan we were charged 31.58c/29.4c(Peak/T33) and supply charges was 136.8c!!!
All rates excluding GST and before discounts applied.

So with discount of 21% for Origin —> base rate 19.36c / supply charge 92.39c (discount applied to both usage and supply) Pretty much no brainer sign up and then renegotiate before christmas or just switch to Alinta.

Total bill for last 81 days was just over $202 including GST for 594kwh (yeah we use very little as we have gas cooking and solar heated hot water, only using airconditioning for humid hot nights in summer, family of 4, 2 adults 2 kids)

        • is that inc of GST with origin

        • @asa79: if you read my post above line 4 thanks.

Yeah, I don't think your old enough to remember the cheap system run by the gummints before voters voted for higher prices and shithouse service by electing politicians who said they were going to privatise it.

A vote for LibLabs is a vote to say this shit is cool and you're happy to continue eating it.

    • yeah everything used to be way cheaper and country was run much better, and council came by to mow the nature strip outside.

But hey we dont live in the past and currently in Brisbane bayside, in recent times (past 5 years) the 21% off origin deal is probably one of the cheapest around.

Which company has the best supply charges at moment. I currently on 0.98 Inc GST per day with AGL. Supply is the biggest cost with Solar my last bill was pretty much mostly just the supply charge

    • In Qld this Mercury plan does at 89.32c, but it isn't a solar plan (at least not according to their energy price fact sheet).
Cheapest solar plan is Simply Energy's RACQ plan at 92.312c per day.

But you're going to have to factor in your solar feed in tariff too.

    • anything under or around $1 including GST for supply charges sounds reasonable, you could probably just go with AGL, I did check their rates before and they were quite competitive as well.

Only 2 stars on the Green Electricity Guide. https://www.greenelectricityguide.org.au/#ratings-container
    I wouldn't even consider them.

    • Good website to know about. Shame Alinta are down the bottom too
