    Not even 11

    • +11

could have been 12% from 12 to 12.

      • +1

Sadly we dont have 50 months each year >.<

        • +3

Sadly we don't have 100 months each year>.<

        • Its not about months. Its hours in a 12-hour clock.

        • +4

@FireRunner: Ah. My apologies. Shall we have more hours per day then XD

      • +1

Could have been 13% on the 13th from 1300 hours. ebay fail.

    • +22

10%? Tell ‘em they’re dreaming. The Professionals don’t get out of bed for anything less than 11% off. Ask Gerry.

      • +2

        I started snoring at 10%.

    • -1

Another day, another discount percentage off

Ebay might as well just rename as EBAY %x OFF

Where X is whatever percentage is for that day or week.

      • +5

        Not really applicable.
Sitewide discounts are ALOT better and alot less frequent. Max 4 times these run a year and these sitewide ones means you don't get the price jacking which usually happens during the more frequent % off sales restricted to retailers.

        • -1

Yeah but most of the time people like getting electronic or IT stuff..

Currently the pamper20 will get me some IT stuff cheaper than than the 10% sitewide..

No doubt sitewide does have some uses for other items though.

But the discount is not that great if buy items that cost about $100, which only nets you a $10 discount..

To get the best saving, you need to spend at least $1000 to get $100 back.
And is rare for most people to spend that much..

most items people are spend are in the below $500 range.
I say the majority are in the $100 range

        • -1

          @pinkybrain:

cost about $100, which only nets you a $10 discount.

          That's how 10% off works…

        • -3

          @Gandalf the Thrifty:

          That's how 10% off works

          Wow
          No kidding..
          Didn't know that…

Most obvious statement of the year

While $10 is nice to get a discount
My point is $10 is not much anyway..
That's like a KFC meal. minus 45 cents.

If you buy the minimum required
          It is just $7.50.

The pamper20 is much better if you get some of those IT stuff from those sellers.

    • At least it's lower minimum spend?

  • a huge 1% difference

    • Kogan Mobile vouchers?

  • +2

    Here we go again.
Starts looking for things to buy.

  • +32

    Code should be USUAL10

    • +13

      Or JACKED10

      • +8

No one I buy from is jacked. Dunno where you're shopping.

        • -2

          It's still early days.

        • +6

@Pluto88: Sitewide coupon. It means you don't have to shop at the usual price jackers in the 20% off sale. It seems some people miss that part.

        • @Clear: Yeah true, but still with TA's 11% coupon yesterday there were reports of jacking from major retailers.

        • @Pluto88: And that's where you made a mistake. Major retailers.

        • -1

@Clear: Just because you buy from a few sellers that don't, doesn't make my original statement untrue.

        • -1

@Pluto88: Nor my original statement that you replied to. Not everything is jacked but if the other deals over the years has ever taught us anything… major retailers almost always price jack. The trick is to find other sellers who are cheaper and sometimes you do.

        • +1

@Clear: yep i have a few operas items on the wish list ….they don’t jack as they sell globally including sellers on ebay locations that don’t have offers.

  • +1

    More spending!!

  • shouldn't it be 13%?
    and 20% site wide on 20/06 =)
    Anyway,.. wishful thinking

    Thanks TA

    • +2

By that logic hold off all purchases until 30th.

      • +4

I'll wait until the 31st to make sure

        • See you next financial year then.

        • +4

You'll be waiting a while for the 31st of June!

  • +5

I dream of the day we get 20% like the US seem to every few months

    • +6

You need to get out more if that's what you dream about.

      • +18

i go outside just to dream about this….cant let the boss catch me at work dreaming about 20% off sales on ebay.

      • But if you go out more you'll miss the 20% when it comes …

        • and so I continue to dream…as it will never become reality :(

  • +1

Does anyone know why OW is always excluded ?

    • +15

Because they always ask to be excluded.

      • +21

Yep. They will not cannibalise their bricks and mortar or owned online stores for the sake of helping eBay.

Rather than increase prices of their eBay store to reduce/eliminate the friction, they simply opt-out of specific promotions.

        I respect that.

        • I don't. Unless they are paying part of the discount or they can serve ALL customers from their brick and mortar stores (eg: rural customers)

I would, however, respect them increasing everyday eBay prices by the amount of the eBay and PayPal fees and charges. I'm fact, i wish everyone would. That would send a nice message to eBay.

        • @justtoreply: Understand your point of view. Don't wholly agree on all points but we're in 100% agreement on this point "increasing everyday eBay prices by the amount of the eBay and PayPal fees and charges"

    • +5

Someone posted the other day saying it was to preserve parity between their bricks and mortar stores vs online. If eBay includes them in a sale then their customers might have legitimate grounds to either price match or complain about sales made during the offer period. Something like that anyway..

    • to stop their regulator commercial customers holding back purchases ….sole traders bottom line is how much you save …not directors or shareholders ….so some would hold back waiting for, discounts and then stock up.

  • +11

TA, work your magic and get us a 20% sitewide pls

    • Maybe 19% off this year? cuz last year we had 18% off

      • +1

        only 1% difference..

Just get us the full 20% off like USA

        • How do you guys find out about 20% off eBay USA?

        • @thaiiy: ozbargain

    • +2

      I'm happy with 15% + cash reward

      • +1

        you are easily pleased.

        • i'm realistic. I expect miracles.

  • +14

Hi OzB Admins, can we have the tomorrow and targeted banners a different colour? My first reaction to this excellent post (Thanks, TA) was that it was targeted and that I'd wouldn't be.

    • Green for eBay!

    • +1

Ping scotty & his team here.

  • WOW!! YAY!!

  • +4

Boycott!!! Looking for 15% now on any item

  • Does anyone know if this works with Vehicle Parts & Accesories category? I'm thinking Cars, Bikes, Boats (9800) would be for complete cars so may get away with it… Hoping to save some money on a second hand gearbox

    • +1

Yes this will work with Vehicle Parts & Accessories (131090) and sub-categories thereof - enjoy 10% off your new old gearbox!

  • PICKY10

eBay trying to send us an indirect message?

    • +1

      Probably.
The code for 10% off Apple products may be Newten?

    • For reference, US 10% coupon was PERFECT10 and UK 10% Coupon was PERFECTTEN.

  • -3

    Not working for me

  • +4

    Still waiting for 20%!!

    • +10

      Thanks for letting us know.

      • Thanks for posting that.

  • +14

Futu & PC Byte must be so confused with all these changes in sale percentages, they can't compute how much to jack it up…

    • +35

Going by their prices I'd say they've settled on something between "a lot" and "Harvey Norman"

      • It means the same thing

  • +2

    good tight work thanks

  • +1

After trawling threads yesterday and other % off new eBay sales I still can't get a clear answer if "Best Offer" acceptance and checkout during the sale window works or not. So many conflicting answers. Does anyone know definatively if a "Best Offer" can work with these sales?

    Great work TA

    • -1

If you can apply the coupon before making an offer it will validate after the buyer accepts an offer.

      • +1

how do you apply coupon before make an offer?

If there is no dollar value, what is there to discount?

        • The dollar value is the fixed price it is now.
Add item to cart and goto checkout apply coupon then cancel. Then go make an offer, Hope they accept in the offer period.

It will show you that the item is eligible for the coupon code but you cant do much till it comes live, Or read the t&c's and hope…

        • +1

          @Geoff897:

          Have you done this successfully?

what you are saying does not make sense

How would cancelling it at checkout, allow you to make an offer?

        • @pinkybrain:

Yes i have and used giftcards to pay many times.

If you havent checked-out and paid you have not committed to the purchase and can cancel it!!!

At that stage before committing/paying you can enter giftcards and coupons to see if they will work. If they do then the offer proce should also validate (Only in the offer period)

    • The coupon works only during the offer period and is applied at the time of making payment. So, you have to make an offer (anytime), have it accepted and then the key is that you must pay for it whilst the coupon is valid.

      • yeah which is quite rare, cos some sellers takes some time to respond.

So if the discount is tomorrow 1 day only, seller would need to respond within that day before the end date or time .

So in the case of tomorrow, there is only a 12hr window for the seller to accept the offer..in order to apply the code.

      • Thanks @useruser. I'm hoping that is the case, but I'm buying new home appliances so it's an expensive mistake to find out the coupon doesn't work. Have you (or any other commenter) anyone confirmed it worked in past?

        • It does work fine, but do your own research as comments are only general information here and often incorrect. Which is why i say add specific items to the cart and test it yourself first.

Your items that we dont know about might not be eligible so pointless asking us without doing your own research (Could be in the an excluded category, Refurbished, Seconds etc)

If your unsure, get on the eBay chat with item numbers and ask them to confirm and make them responsible.

        • @Geoff897:
Thanks. All agreed it needs to be a valid category. It's the sequence and way the checkout works I was looking for. Bob did this below so it works

    • +2

Make an offer and if they don't accept within the period the coupon as active, retract the offer.

      • what if they accept the offer (e.g. 1 minute after expired period) before you had a chance to retract?

Then you are oblige to buy it?

      • I believe you cannot retract the offer given to you, you have to pay it unless you say you type the wrong numbers and fill in a form?

    • +2

      Hi Lurker,

Yes, best offers + coupons can be used.

I made a best offer on an item on Sunday, and the offer was accepted on Monday - During the promotion.

When I went to the checkout to pay for my 'best offer' item, I added the coupon code and got a further 11% off.

Hope this helps clear it up for you. Don't forget you can get 1% cashback too via CashRewards.

Edit: Come to think of it, there's no reason why EBay wouldn't accept a best-offer and a coupon, as the price reduction is coming off of the sellers total and not Ebay's.

      • +1

No the seller gets the total amount, ebay is taking the financial loss on these sitewide ones

        • As far as I've heard, that's correct off sitewide. The seller specific code discounts are split between eBay and seller, or so I'm told. Root cause of the jacking issue

      • +1

Thanks Bob81. That's the clarification I was looking for!! Now to make the offer I've been sitting on…

    • So essentially I just made a "best offer" and got accepted. I haven't paid for it yet. Does this mean I can or cannot use the coupon tomorrow?

      • +1

you can as long as you pay for it after midday when the coupon goes live.

        • Awesome thank you.

    • Once the offer is accepted, the item with the offer price will appear in your shopping cart. You can check out and use the code as per normal. There's nothing weird or special to that process.

  • +2

I don't think it'll be too long till they have the sales like last year. with random 15-20% off codes and the tuesday? night sales.
