Not a bad price. Some of the parts below are probably higher spec'd than this deal, but they don't list the actual parts they use so use caution.

Yeah it's a bit difficult to discern the value when the brands aren't included in most of the parts. Using staticICE some of the listings can be found a bit cheaper though.

Not really right to compare so many stores prices on individual items compared to getting it all at once, built, and with warranty.

Face value, seems a good deal though.

Not really right to compare so many stores prices on individual items compared to getting it all at once

Of course it is, I for one would rather source the parts individually and build it myself, all at a lower total cost.

          But could you?

        • +1

          @kojihama: Yes.

        • Which obviously is irrelevant when we are looking at a system that's priced pre-built and who that would appeal too…

        • @scuderiarmani:

A lot of places have a small assembly cost - so finding out the component price helps check the value. I used to assemble a PC including unboxing etc to first boot in about 40mins, so the labour component is minimal.

        • @sjp770:
I know, but the people that buy these, won't use staticice to check each and very component.

For the rest of us, it's a guide to what we could pay for the same components.

Dealing with one company, one warranty, one contact, one delivery… that counts for something, especially for people who have NFI how to build one.

    • Yeah, no way they're including branded/reputable parts like in your list. Thing I'd be most worried about is PSU (the 80PLUS qualification is only for efficiency not necessarily build quality (the two correlate, but not perfectly)).

      • They can't all be 'unbranded' parts.

I do get the PSU is important though… but I do feel some overstate them, particularly if you aren't overclocking.

I tried to find comparable parts for the items they do list specifics. Other than that, DD4 2400, 500GB NVME SSD, 1080ti and 80+ Gold PSU don't really get much cheaper than the items i listed so the price isn't likely to vary too much. Except for the PSU, you could probably knock off $40 if you really wanted to skimp.

  • got mostly adata parts for my build - same specs

  • +2

Just a note that i enquired about a build of theirs in the past and its all pretty generic stuff they put int there.
For example Colorful brand MOBO and GPU at the time.
I'd think if your spending over 2k on a system better off buying more reputable parts and put quality ahead of small price saving or connivence.

      Colorful brand MOBO and GPU

      GPUs are okay, but mobo…

      • I heard they're ok but in a 2k+ system just prefer a different brand more reputation and support network.

        • The two graphics vendors (AMD and nVidia) have pretty strict reference board requirements for all their distributors for basically every essential element of the board, so the difference between brands for a graphics card really only goes to warranty and support like you say. A motherboard on the other hand, can have a lot more variance because there's a lot more on it than just the chipset.

    • That explains it. Eww and never.

  • For those on a smaller budget (and want Ryzen 5), there's also this:

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/AMD-Ryzen-5-1600-6-Core-8GB-1TB-…

    AMD Ryzen 5 1600 6-Core 8GB 1TB 240GB SSD GTX1060

$1,047.20 Delivered with EBay Plus. Not a bad deal and would pay that much in components (even no-brand ones) without assembly from when I was looking to spec a similar system recently.

  • Trying to build a new pc and was wondering if this is a good 4K 60fps pc for the price? Or should I just wait for a parts to come down in price?

    • +1

This is a good price for the performance. No guarantees that this will be able to run absolutely everything at 4K 60FPS, but it's a 1080Ti so you're not really going to get anything faster this side of spending literally thousands more. Also no comment on quality or build quality.

You might be able to get a similarly specc'd system for a little less down the line if part prices do come down, and if you get the same combination of sales (end of financial year, eBay Plus launch, etc). I personally wouldn't wait. Waiting when buying tech stuff is an indefinite process.

  • Did anyone end up buying this and has received it yet ?
Thinking about purchasing now before the deal ends.
