That's a rather expensive course. 2 seconds of google shows one for $79 (https://www.australiawidefirstaid.com.au/courses/first-aid/). Even buying the ~$60 first aid kit, you're still $50+ ahead.
After doing a St Johns First Aid course recently in SA, the offer we got was a 40% discount on the larger kit, normally about $95, but if you buy it at the end of the course, pay only $55. I bought one and it seems decent value at that price. I wouldn't buy them at RRP though.
As for the cost of the course, it's not cheap, especially since you need to re-do it every 2 years (with the CPR component every year) to stay qualified. But it's cheaper than most other full day courses that don't even save lives.
