    not a bargain

  • typical price from HN

  • +3

    is good price.
you'd see it for 450-ish other places.

  • Hasn't it been this price at HN for awhile now?

  • +3

PS3 don't seem to have come down in price much for the last 18 months at least.

  • +1

I'm guessing that at this price it'll go out the door quick so get in quick

  • +2

I'm not buying a PS3 until they are around $329 retail. I think it'll take 6 months but it'll happen this year as long as the Aussie dollar holds up.

    • even if the aussie $ does hold up. the retaillers have had sufficient time to get new stock at the higher exchange rate. right now they are just enjoying the profits. in the US a PS3 cost $299 look at amazon

      • Amazon and Best Buy are also offering a $50 store voucher with purchase.
Frustrates me that the Australian retailers are not passing on the benefits of a stronger A$ to us customers. They should at least price it at $350.

        • +2

for that to happen we need Gerry Harvey to realize he is soon going to be making huge losses.its a matter of time before some online store will have it at $350

please do understand that most business in australia are regulated (being forced to charged higher)
while many other countries regulate the banks, but Australia does not…….. so the politician want the people to spend less. higher interest rate, expensive stuff…… can't afford expensive groceries because of flood?don't eat …… that's the messege…… other countries do not add in inflation from natural disasters

        • +4

edgar what the hell are you on about?? most businesses in australia are regulated? lol! only against anti-competitive behaviour. the government does not set the price of goods. this isn't china mate.

Edgar… seriously, don't post if you don't know what you're talking about. The price of electronic goods in Australia has absolutely nothing to do with the QLD flood levy,

Australia sometimes cops higher prices because of import tariffs on certain goods and customers here do sometimes suffer because of a lower population density spread. But the reason we pay over the odds is mostly because Australian businesses are poorly run by greedy people who rely on a business model that's 20 years out of date. If Harvey Norman, Good Guys etc stopped running constant TV adverts nationwide 7 days a week they could easily knock 20 or 25% off the sticker price of their goods for example.

I guess he's really trying to say manufacturers set different prices worldwide based on the regional markets.

      • we always cop it in oz

look at the price of petrol not only are they weakening it with cheaper ethanol nad not passing on the savings anymore but the price of crude has not been so low since the 70s and the AUD has never been stronger petrol should be 25cP/L plus taxes bringing it up to about 70c P/L

    • But in 6 months you probably won't be able to get one with FW 3.55 or lower… ;)

      • These will probably be the last batch. Bought mine on boxing day @ fw 3.40

  • gamestop aka ebgames in america is selling 320gb ps3 slims with ps move and sports champions for $399, i know this because ill probably take one home :)

I bought this for this price at HN a few weeks ago. It was posted on here then. SO this is a duplicate.

    dupe: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/38960
    not that cheap either

  • +2

It may be a dupe but it was a good reminder for me on where the cheapest PS3 is, I just picked one up an hour ago for $392.

HN are clearing their 250GB at $492. Plenty of 160GB at $392 at HN Chatswood.
went to Myer and saw 250GB with FIFA World Cup selling $400, got it price matched at HN.
I knew FIFA world cup 2010 is old and probably only worth $10 – $15, but still a great deal for 250GB, given the 160GB selling $392.

so is my deal a better deal? or I'm too dumb to pick up a old stock 250Gb?

  • hey tensai that's an excellent price, mind if i ask which myer you got it from?
edit: reread your post and saw it was nsw!

    • saw the deal at Myer Chatswood NSW
took a pic, and went to HN, they said they cant price beat it but happy to match it
so I bought the 250GB one with World Cup instead of $392 for 160Gb

  • I picked up the ps3 (320gb) and playtv for just $478, when that deal was going around in Dick Smith. But i wish i got in on that Biw W deal. :(
