sorry first post, i added the link

This is a dodgy seller, I ordered a Honor Note 10 and three days later it got cancelled and refunded for no reason.

    • +19

If it is refunded, it is not dodgy.

      • +6

        True, poor choice of words.

        Let's say unusual..

        • +2

Annoying, especially if you got it on a % off deal, then missed out as a result

        • +1

i still consider that somewhat dodgy if they refund you for no reason.

        • +1

          @Jollystacker:

Yep that's my opinion but for the sake of others it's "unusual".

All I got was a message; "hi, how are you, the order was cancel and refund, please check it on ebay, if you still want, you need to order it again"

        • +1

@chipple: happens when stock runs low, especially when down to a few units and they can’t find all the stock ….even at spotlight when they check other store stock and it’s says 3 left, they get you to call incase the stock can’t be located or has been sold since update.

and some of these sellers are chinese so english is the 2nd language so maybe they keep replies generic instead of bad translations.

        • @garage sale: this is the case with most retailers who have brick and mortar shops, without $million dollar outlays for rfid tags and systems that track such tags it's quite difficult to say with certainty a shop has x or y in stock, even from a warehousing level online has to compete with stores for stock so if you order something and the online system gets the order to the back end later than stock is allocated and sent to a store you tend to then have to send the apology emails lol..

    Any deal on 8Gb variant?

    • +1

didnt see the 8gb, probably hard to get

      • +1

Yeah, will wait then till is avail. Thanks for looking.

        • Is the RAM a big deal?

Is the upgrade from 4gb to 6gb to 8gb very noticeable, significant? If so, how so? I mean generally for mobiles

        • @davedrastic:
Probably makes a small difference in time loading multiple resource heavy apps and switching between them.

        • +1

@davedrastic: Since its cheap why not get the top model by paying little extra. More ram good to do some video editing right on the fone.

  • +1

Nice deal. However, this is not the global version, so no B28.

    • +2

do you know if the one in gearvita is global?

      • +1

        4G FDD-LTE B1/3/5/7/8/20, TDD-LTE B38/40/41(120MHz)

        Its is not

    • +8

Pocophone F1 global version does not have B28 either :(

      • Hmmm…. TIL Australia is not part of the "globe"

        • yeah i have the Mi A2 global version I imported a couple of weeks ago and it doesn't have B28 either.
I'm on Optus, upgraded from a HTC 8x, and i'm not exactly a power user. When would the lack of B28 affect me? ie when might I notice it?

        • @antikythera:
Band 28 is the only low-frequency 4G signal in Australia for Telstra* and Optus. If you don't have it your phone will generally fall back to 3G indoors and in rural areas.

Personally there's no way I'd buy a phone without Band 28. It's the most valuable frequency and we're all paying for it.

*Telstra has refarmed a handful of 900mhz sites to 4G

        • @antikythera: Majority of Optus towers are running on B28 (https://oztowers.com.au/Bands#tabs-2), so I'm not willing to give up on B28 unless I'm moving to Vodafone.

        • @tanksinatra:

If you are in metro areas on Telstra, Xiaomi phones work fine on B3/1800.

But I agree, B28 is necessary to get the most reliable 4G signal.

  • Lacks Widevine L1. Which means cant play videos from most online streaming services.

    https://www.gadgetsnow.com/mobiles/the-cheapest-smartphone-w…

    • It does play them AFAIK only on 720p

  • +1

The poco must be in oversupply. It keeps dropping ~$30 every few days.

  • how can we cancel previous gearvita deal

  • Is there any tablet that has the same spec? Really want one with good and big screen.

    • Best android tablet at the moment is Samsung galaxy tab s4. As 835 and great screen. You can get it with 4g b28 in Australia.

      • +1

Isn't it annoying that the samsung has a Snapdragon 835 and 4GB ram whereas this sub $500 phone has snapdragon 845 and 6GB ram…

        • Isnt it annoying that samsung has wireless charging, qhd amoled screen, nfc and band 28, australian warranty and support, ip68.

I mean, which phome are you talking about? Sounds like your talking about the s8/+, the s9+ has snap 845 and 6gb ram, dunno what you on about?

        • +3

@Bargain4Days: He is talking about the $459.09 Xiaomi Pocophone F1 phone which has a better processor and more RAM than the $1179 Galaxy Tab S4 LTE tablet. It would have been nice if the new flagship tablet had at least as much RAM and as good a processor as this mid-range phone.

        • @JerryB:

OliverKlozoff is comparing two different items. The galaxy tab s4 tablet should be compared with xiaomi’s flagship tablet.

        • @Bargain4Days:

You literally just listed the reasons why I go with a flag ship from an Australian seller. Sometimes that extra $300 is worth the piece of mind. It will do everything I need and be repaired under warranty with no frustarating loops.

  • Do we know if this is the Global ROM or the Chinese ROM?

Edit: Sorry, I realised that it is, and the answer was above in the comments.

    • Is it hard/possible to put the global rom on this? I'm assuming that if this is the chinese rom we can't install the google play store?

  • +1

No NFC kills it for me. But it’s a good price.

FYI a heap of comments on gsmarena saying it overheats during gaming, is not durable (plastic back) and 3ft drop and the screen is smashed.

  • does this price include GST?

    • Ebay charges gst.

  • I'd cough up a little bit more get something with Band 28 and NFC.
    Something like the Nokia 8.

    • what is the benefit of Band 28 and NFC?

      • Band 28 is for stronger signals for australians, but a lot of people don't need it much.

NFC is for contactless payments. If you ever forget your wallet at home, you can easily tap and pay with your phone. NFC allows to do that for you. Pretty easy too, just unlock and tap the phone near the terminal where you scan your credit/debit card.

There hasn't been an android phone that allows both + headphone jack + unlockable bootloader, but Xiaomi is probably the closest to that. If there was, i would've gladly moved on from my Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus.

        • so this poco phone is a good upgrade or not?
The shit thing I don't like is the notch.
The other features are pretty good
but the camera is not rated as good from reviews I seen.

how does this phone compare to the one plus 6?

          With band 28,
is it that available on 4g, 5g etc ?

If our phone not support band 28, then our phone signal will not be as strong
and the download speed is not as good?
e.g. it is harder to download data when inside a shopping center without the band 28

or is that only important in regional areas?

        • @pinkybrain:

          With band 28,
is it that available on 4g, 5g etc ?

          4G

If our phone not support band 28, then our phone signal will not be as strong…

If there's no other signal (e.g. indoors) then yes

or is that only important in regional areas?

It is of more importance in regional areas.

  • Widevine is a concern, really big one if you plan to watch Netflix and some other video streaming on this device, you can goolge Widevine and subs like Widevine L1/L3 etc
so, you can also download this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.androidfun… to check out with DRM Info

    • can this be fixed with software update?

Make sure you put all your important personal details on the phone.
