don't forget to cancel the automatic monthly payment for some extra feature thing. $4.99.

    • I think i can see a 'delete' option, to remove the 2 month free trial for this.

It would be a good idea to remove it now, rather than forgetting later and getting charged..

are there any deals on renewals?

  • +2

Careful. Godaddy has been known to squat domains once a customer's time is up and doesn't renew, then offering to sell it back to the customer for a lot more. I'm not sure if they still do this, but a few years ago it was a big issue.

I've never had any problems with GoDaddy. My only complaint is they offer these cheap domains then gouge you when it's time to renew.

    • That's why you enjoy them for one year only then move on …

      • theres usually a coupon you can use to get the renewal around $8AUD, which is reasonable

  • Does godaddy has whois protection?

Are there similar or better alternatives for long term besides godaddy?

    • whois protection isnt free with godaddy.

plenty of other registrars offer it for free with domain purchase around $10USD

      • how much is a whois protection normally with godaddy?

      • @bazza236: which ones offer it for free?
I'd like to migrate my personal website soon!

Namecheap (my registrar of choice) offers it for free for the first year (with any new or transfer)

The price to buy it is really cheap ($3 for one, I think around $7 for 5).

It seems like their domain pricing has gone up though.

        • Thank you!
It's still cheaper than what I currently have, which doesn't even have the option for domain privacy.

  • grr, I only just transfered 4 domains to godaddy!

  • It's not working for me anymore.

"The promo code you entered is invalid, expired, or ineligible for the items you are purchasing."

  • Keeps giving me a "Input valid Phone Filed" error… does anyone know what format the phone number is meant to be in for the registration to go through?

  • Yeah I previously bought the "$1" domain & then started getting hit with the $5pm.
    IMO Stay away.

    • You have to be REALLY careful when ordering anything from GoDaddy, they try to get you to add everything to your cart

      • Agreed, I've never had any problems with GoDaddy, you just have to be careful ordering so that you don't end up with extra stuff in your cart.

  • If anyone's having problems with this code (it doesn't work for renewals, and I needed to renew a .com), I just used "gdz227a" and got 28% off - no minimum spend on this code (my renewal cost $6.76 after discount).
