Awesome! considering long weekend is coming up and they've increased petrol to 160+ the past week in Syd..

  • +2

    Lexus works?

    • No, Lexus has to pay extra.

      • +1

yep, just tried - invalid VIN

    • +45

lol the only time a lexus owner will admit to it being a toyota :P

      • +12

i bought mine knowing im getting the foundation and technology of toyota, with the luxury features and interior/exteriors of a lexus without the premium price of a euro/german vehicle

Youd be in denial to buy it for any other reason

        • Is this why you stopped coming on Ozhonda?!

        • +3

@maybeamacy: lol yeah i sold the honda. its gone to a better place and the owner has undone all my atrocious modding

      • Really? The LFA has no more in common with a Corolla than a Veyron with Golf.

        • As far as i was told the Lexus 3 litre and camry v6 3 litre engine back in the day were one and the same. I am not sure anymore, at least thats what i was told about my camry v6 from 2004.

          • @lonewolf: The modern version of that engine - the 2 litre turbo - is exclusive to Lexus and is not used by Toyota.

On the other hand, VW use the same common platforms across Skoda, Volkswagen and Audi…but you don't often hear that an Audi is a glamorised Skoda.

            • +1

              @elektron:

but you don't often hear that an Audi is a glamorised Skoda.

not amongst the Audi badge whores anyway

          • +1

@lonewolf: The 3.5 v6 233kw from the is350 is not the same as the v6 from the Camry. Only one Toyota does use that particular engine, however it's the mark x which is only available in Japan.

"List of Participating Caltex Service Station." link doesn't work

    • +2

      Updated the links.

      • Thanks

  • So only this period 27/09 - 02/10 save 8c, right?

    • Appears so, according to the image.

    • Correct, it will then go back to the regular discount of 4c/L.

      • +3

Why the neg? The regular discount is 4c/L using the myToyota app, after 02/10 discount will revert to 4c/L.

  • +1

it's still 4c/L for me. maybe just for new members.

    • +2

Dates on this post repeated so many times…

      • +1

Oh thanks for mentioning that. Didn't read the whole title.

  • Great just in time for long weekend trip in the Kluger

    • +3

You'd need it with a Kluger! Only reason not to own one, terrible fuel economy and such a small tank for a large vehicle, have to stop ALL THE TIME !

      • +2

Yeah fuel usage is higher but you get a silky smooth V6 with power on tap when you need it. No diesel rattle or DPF headaches with a bulletproof NA engine. Full tank lasts around 450km which is adequate.

        • +1

LOL…Toyota got sued for that engine.
          https://gdlauto.com.au/toyota-kluger-vehicle-review-mcu28r/

          • @LDS: After having seen many many 2GR-FEs for rebuild, all of the sludged ones have had their service intervals blown out of the water. Usually it was taxis coming in that had been 'serviced every 5000km' but the filter was often jammed on the block, and the sump plug washer never changed.

The bigger issue was the VVT oil feed hose bursting, but that was remedied under warranty.

The 2GR-FE is a hugely reliable engine, and will put most other current V6s to shame.

          • @LDS: Whoopee duck.. it is a magnificent engine… possibly the best for what it is.
All motors will "sludge". The painful remedy to this is to change your oil every 10kk :-(
Unlike euros where 10kk is motor and transmission change??
Desperate to bag a Toyota? :-)

      • Fuel economy isnt terrible, but tank size leaves a lot to be desired.

      • if only they brought the hybrid kluger here

        • I did see one here. Must have been a Jap used import?

      • MrFrugalSmith…
Take it from someone who owns and has driven one for the past 6.5 yrs… you are 100% wrong.
I have the 2wd version and economy is equivalent or better than a 4cyl camry.

        • +1

Sorry to burst your bubble xywolap, but I was actually speaking from experience, had both a Kluger and Camry actually!! Camry's are great - one of the cheapest to own and run, most reliable, no nonsense practical sized vehicles.

However, luckily you specified 2wd version, because it was the AWD Kluger that kept me frequently at the petrol pump. Tested fuel mileage (combined) results are 8.8L/100km for the Camry and 11L/100km for Kluger (but mine never got that).

Had crap mileage even on the highway. Whereas old V8s like Holdens & Fords have crap fuel for city driving, but okay on the highway idling along, this was not so with the Kluger petrol AWD. I guess that's where diesels get their advantage also, long range Land Cruisers / Prados etc.

So no, I'm definitely not 100% wrong. Others agree - https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2288487

Cool, I only have to drive past 2 Caltex service stations on the way to a participating one, then home again. Round trip only 3 hours.

    • then you realise

Participating Caltex locations are subject to change without notice and is at the sole discretion of Caltex.

  • +3

Time to "inspect" some Toyotas on Gumtree then.

    • +1

They will ask for proof of ownership so inspecting isn't sufficient unless the owner lets you take a copy of its rego renewal or stamp duty document etc

      • Photo of VIN (for PPSR check) + looking at the Service & Warranty booklet to get the batch / stock code (I mean, to check the service history) should be sufficient?

        • It is a bit strange to ask to take a photo of the warranty booklet if you are just checking the ownership and service history right? You need to upload the photo for proof of ownership if I remember it correctly.

        • Gotta get the batch number to make sure it's not part of a faulty batch;)

    • Just had to type in QLD registration number in Toyota app and app will find "your" car, In QLD with just a registration number you can look up any cars VIN through QLD transport app "QLD rego check" or website. Not sure if other states have something similar for adding " I do not recommend it" a Toyota car you've seen.

      • Works let see if it will change tomorrow.

      • You can look up the VIN on VicRoads free registration check website too but I believe you need more details to register it into the app.

  • +8

As long as I have a Toyota to setup the app I can use it to fill up the other car.

    • No moral issues?

      • @Charity if you don't own one just register TOYOTA as your rego with NSW/QLD as state :) thanks to Slo20 for the comment

  • +12

Pro tip: you can use the rego “Toyota” and QLD or NSW state to register a vehicle.

    • Work like a charm! Thanks!

    • you genius!

  • Doesn't work with JDM imports if anyone's wondering. Not that I expected it to.

  • I've got a Toyota echo and when I put my vin number it asked for stock cod someone could you help me or heaving same problem? Cheers

    • +1

It's asking for your batch number (stock number)

You can find your batch number (sometimes referred to as the stock number) on the retail delivery card in your Service & Warranty booklet or by contacting the Guest Experience Centre.

    • +1

In your factory service & warranty booklet there will be a Stock # number on first page. Mine was 7 digits and was successfully verified.

  • Looks like no stations are taking park in TAS :(

  • +1

If you are nrma member using the nrma app you get 3-5 cents off per litre everyday at Caltex

    • That is what I am using now.

  • After 2/10 will it revert back to 4 cents / liter discount?

  • +1

Vehicles manufactured prior to 2001 cannot be registered

    • Yep, full price for my Supra.

  • Prices are ridiculous right now above $1.60! Don't forget to look for cheap fuel price around your area!

    https://www.racv.com.au/on-the-road/driving-maintenance/fuel…

*use at your own discretion, prices can change anytime!

  • -1

Just sign up but only 4 cent, not 8

    • -1

      same

    • +1

      Offer starts tomorrow

  • Caltex / Coles increase their prices by 22c a lt to offer 10c discounts..

    Saturday 7/11 was $1.44
    Saturday Caltex / Coles $1.67
Last night Caltex / Coles $1.67

    You do the maths.

  • Local participating caltex is most expensive in the area today… Hmm..

  • +1

Cant understand the interest in this? Using petrol spy i can usually beat caltex prices by 8c easy.
With their 4c offer it is always beaten.
