wont let me order in perth - says no stock available and clearance item

    • Same here but I'm in Sydney.

      • I'm in Melbourne.

Tried ordering 4 and adding into cart and checkout. On finishing with the registration of account, this appeared:

"Sorry - we were unable to continue, please check the following messages
Product WDAH2000CH is not available for backorder."

  • With "WD 2TB My Book Elite", is this a good price. I mean REALLY a good price?

If yes, planing to print it out and get one in local stock!

Damm… they have this line in RED on webpage,
"Strictly while stocks last. Availability may vary from state to state. Please proceed to checkout to confirm availability in your area."

Do you guys think they will still sell it, if they have in stock?

    Thanks.

    • yes.. they have too..

  • South Strathfield

"Sorry - we were unable to continue, please check the following messages

    • Product WDAH2000CH is not available for backorder."
  • can we walk into the store and purchase one?

    • Print it out and show it them. Save the trouble, example; server down, can;t find it and so on…

Let me know if you get one, :)

      Thanks.

      • won't they say it's a clearance item and that they don't have any stock? :(

        • Then you have to;
          - 1st ask the guys in the shop, do you have "WD 2TB My Book Elite" in your shop?
          - Ask them to show it to you.
          - Then you compare the stock code, is it the same.
          - If yes, show them the print out and ask for the same price.

P/S: Some guys in the shop are good, some are not. Try your luck, if this shop don't do it, try another shop(If you want to argue, YES, you can, you do have a strong point, but… in the end, it is up to the manager).

  • Sorry wrong post.

  • officeworks deals are about as reliable as cotd's servers, yet they dont get much ozbargain hate, weird…

    • +5

because OW deals are mostly clearance items (posted by users) that were available before at normal price, unlike a company rep who posts a product with minimal stock to begin with.

      • -8

by the time these officeworks deals get posted, there is little difference though…

    • what? officeworks deals usually still available in store, if your local store doesnt have many ozbargainers ard. cotd is a POS…where they claimed they have 1000 units of something really only 10. Kthx.

      • clearly, im talking about clearance deals from officeworks….not general deals

Does anyone know which HDD this uses?

    • +1

      the black one

      • ?

        • +1

I think they mean internally. Lol

        • +1

I think he means WD black drives (the fast ones)

        • but are they? any confirmation?

    • I don't think WD sell those HDD alone. Last time I opened one for the 2.5" HDD, there is no standard SATA interface. It has mini USB connector on the HDD PCB. I think they do the same thing for these drives as well.

  • +2

Called them just then. Was told it was out of stock in NSW. =/

  • +3

If you look at the history of OW "clearance" posts, they are nearly always Out of stock, not available for backorder. This is so wasting everybodys time

  • +2

Went to my local oficeworks store in VIC, I asked them to check other store's stock. None in VIC left.

  • +2

I believe these 'Clearance' posts should be double checked. Again this has been on clearance, and again you sign up login and bam its not available!

Neg for clearance having no stuck as was in the other officeworks posts. Will unneg if someone can show they have bought one.

  • FYI, called a few OW in Brisbane, finally gave up when the OW in Loganholme said that he checked on the system and no store in QLD has it. I think I will try them first next time.

Terrific price…. but goodluck finding any :(.
Also, it should be noted that if you order inline and pick up from nearby store, there is still a $4.95 handling fee- taking price to $103.95.

I recently bought an internal 2TB WD drive for $95, so the above external drive is a VERY good price. But only if you can find one while visiting a store. Plus vote for the post!

  • -1

    No stock -neg

    • +1

I can either pickup or get delivered within 5 days… seems like it's available to me (I tried online pickup from all the ACT stores and seems to work fine).

    • If one guy got it and it deserves a +.

I don't neg a deal because I was unable to get it due to traffic.

  • none in SA.
good try, but apparently none available nationwide.

  • -2

    not available

  • no stock in QLD

For those who can't find any stock but still have an irresistible longing for 2TB hard drives, you can do what I did and get OW(now known as Offies according to some thread I saw) to pricematch Fluidtek for $95 for the Seagate Expansion 2TB.
Yeah I know it doesn't have the sexy text on the side of the hard drive and it doesn't resemble a book but I bought it anyway.

    • Fluidtek's price is $120 as per the price on the front page of their website!?

      • Those guys must've changed it very recently, I did my pricematch around noon for $100 - 5% = $95.
When I viewed it, it was only $100 and it was located on the left of the $100 2.5" 1TB.

I wanted to get my friend to buy it with his discount card to save a further $5 but now I'm glad I didn't wait.

    • +1

takes officework catalogue in for seagate expansion $117 to dicksmith and get 5% off, close to 100% you gonna get

  • -2

No stock in the Wollongong/Shoalhaven area. Waste of time.

  • +5

No need to neg if there is no stock in your area. Officeworks's website did not put enough effort to tell you where the stocks of "clearance" stocks are which is not good enough. However, it's not like they advertise the deal in the front page of their catalogue and then tell you no stock. They just want to get rid of left over stock(s) which is why price is heavily reduced. They have a call centre for you to check. If you don't want to waste time and a 1300 call, don't participate.
I think it's good that somebody spot a good clearance stock and post it. Then whoever wanted the bargain can follow it up.

    • But these people have more fun with the red button, and if they can't have it why would they want someone else to have it….

BTW Nice tip about the 1300 number

      • is there anyway to neg the ppl that use the red button? :)

        • Yes, you hit the red button next to their comment.
Don't try it on me! D=

  • I went online and click "Add to cart" then Checkout. During Checkout, it shown me where I can pick one up. Then I cancelled the whole process (it charges $4.95 handling fee even it is a store pickup) and went straight to the store to get one.

I drop by East Vic Park in WA and they still have about 3 in stock. (They were hidden behind all the 2TB USB3.0 drives, not sure if it was done purposely)

    Thanks for info
