  • Is this a good price for the V7?

    • -7

I don't think so. You can buy a proper vacuum with more suction for less.

      • That may be so, but they're asking specifically about the V7, so we can assume they've already gone through that rationalisation process.
Going you an upvote however, because it was an honest answer.

  • +1

Thanks, OP! got one for $285 with additional 5% discount.

    • +1

      what additional 5% discount?

      • +1

        discount through work.

        • Or through Macquarie Bank rewards to get 5% off Harvey. Remember your CC wont cover you for extended warrenty if you pay with gift cards. Best to always go through cashback or Raiz if ya can, although Harvey isnt available for this particular deal.

    • how do u get the extra 5% discount?

edit: just saw ur reply after I posted this comment

I just picked up one from Myer… from last deal! Good find !

  • +1

Got it from the last Dyson eBay deal for 297. Works well on Tiles and Carpet. Definitely worth the purchase for this price.

  • Damn when did the Amex offer expire?

    • +1

      It's still on.

      • Oh yeah wait sorry, I have three days left $50 with $350 spend.

  • I’ve got a DC59 which is the older model of V6. Is this much better than V6? I am waiting for a V10 deal anyway. Need to replace the DC59 now.

    • Are you happy with the weight? The v10 is crazy heavy. It's better in performance and theory, but you should also consider comfort and ease of use. Bigger isn't always better when all the weight is at your wrist lol

  • Oh dear… Just paid 347 for the same in Myer in store . :-(

Wanted to pay by CBA points so couldn't eBay C&C :-(

Any way to price match post purchase?

    • +1

Unless Myer have a suitable change of mind policy and you haven't used the item, or your method of payment was a card which has some sort of a 'price protection' or 'refund protection' offering, you're SOL.

      • -1

You could try buying from HN and returning to Myer but that’s kind of pushing the limits.

        • Myer will give only Myer return cards
in refund to CBA rewards points ( $310) going by my reputation very unlikely I will use up $300 in Myer unless I m buying a heavily discounted iPad ;-)

My only option is to go to Myer at 7 am on 26th process my refund.

Go in straight after and pay with Myer return card.

      • I haven't used the item . Had suspected the price war . Price protection Works only when full price paid is paid on that card.

I might try price matching on 27th. Don't want to get stuck on 26th rush !

  • Great price

  • Does it suck though?

    • -2

Nowhere near as good as a proper vacuum.

      • -2

        Nothing better to do?

        • I'm wrapping presents for tomorrow.

          You?

          • +1

@spaceflight: Reading comments from people complaining about products in deals :)

            • @WhyAmICommenting: That's strange you're wasting your time here.

None of the Dyson handhelds have suction power close to a real vacuum so I'm not complaining about the deal, I'm stating a fact.

    • -1

Hang on let me check 👀

      • So?

        • +2

Still trying to find the suction.

Or it was too much and KaptnKaos has been sucked in to the vacuum.
          You'll be missed KaptnKaos.

  • That's a good price. Paid $397 - 15% back in August, which was $38 more than $299.

It works well on hard floors, I have not used the full size vacuum since getting the V7.

Battery stopped charging after 2 months of light use, called customer service and they sent me a replacement battery without too much hassles.

    • It's good that the battery can be replaced!!!! About 6 months ago I bought some $99 black+decker cordless dustbuster from Bunnings that has a stick attachment… Not much suction but with the motorised head it surprisingly picks up a lot of dust! I use it as my main vac now cause it's so easy. I'm seriously considering getting a Dyson to replace it but there's so many models. :(

Edit - I have this model. I'm guessing the V7 would be a decent upgrade to something like that?

      • The motorised head on the V7 is not very powerful, it only helps to sweep dirt into the vacuum, it doesn't brush like full sized vacuums.

The V7 have no issue dealing with hard floors.

        • Is your full size vacuum from Dyson as well? If so are the attachments interchangeable?

  • Bought mine at HN yesterday for $347!! What are the chances of returning it and buy it at $299.

Has anyone experience this at HN? Advices needed

    • +1

have you used it yet? if so, highly doubt it. dealing with HN after sale is a pain in the butt

    • HN doesn't have a change of mind policy.
So unless your method of payment was a card which has some sort of a 'price protection' or 'refund protection' offering, you situation is likely not changing.

    • +1

Their price guarantee will match competitor's price within 7 days after purchase.

      https://www.harveynorman.com.au/customer-service/price-match…

It's unclear if the policy covers themselves.

      • 7 days competitors price match and 14 days HN price match I think, i may be wrong though

    • u can ask HN . they have price promise of within 14 days I did it before

    • Thanks all for the response, it seems like more trouble than it’s worth.

I haven’t open it yet and I used the Amex offer with it so I got it for $300 anyways.

“Price protection” on my card has to be $75 differences so that’s out of the window.

      • My local HN have been quite good about price differences, I also used an AmEx deal previously and had them refund the difference when the price dropped on a coffee machine I bought. Your mileage may vary.

    • +2

Buy another one from them for $299.

Return the new one on the old receipt.

    • Yes they have a 7 day price gaurantee and will give you a refund if you bring the receipt. I recently got it for a sound bar.

  • +1

    Thanks OP - ordered one.

Don't think I can go wrong with this model Dyson at this price.

The V7 Animal appears to have a few more attachments, but it's around $500, and hopefully the standard attachments will do the job for a regular quick vacuum.

I have a high end Miele corded which I'll continue to use for an occasional more thorough vacuum.

    • +1

You won't be using corded vacuum once u get the Dyson. Lol

    • How important is the animal attachments? I have a cat, so keep holding out for animal deals, but is it really necessary?

  • Curious…. those that say they’re are better and cheaper alternatifes, what are they? Please only list similar vacuums that are cordless, thanks.

      https://www.godfreys.com.au/hoover-ultra-light-handstick-vac…

      $129

Had one of these (I paid $150) and gave it to my daughter when I bought a V6 in a recent deal. Suction is about the same between the two; they last about the same time - 20 mins; and they both make about the same level of noise - different pitch. The Dyson does do a “boost” speed but the battery will only last about 7 minutes.

The main difference is the Dyson’s motorised head will swivel left and right, while the Hoover head won’t. This makes the Dyson a bit easier to get into tight spaces.

I found the Hoover build quality not as good (because of inexact fit, it’s a bit more fiddly to dismantle for cleaning) but it actually comes apart more to get all the fine dust out. The Dyson motorised head comes apart better than the Hoover (you can dismantle it more easily).

Get two for the price of one Dyson and enjoy a closer family relationship while vacuuming!

      • Thank you, Sir.

  • Lol. They had to call it the V7.

  • Hi Guys,

    This is good for carpet?

    • Yes, it is.

      • Thanks a lot

  • is the v6 animal a better buy as it has the extra head?
from what ive heard the v7 only has a better battery life because they have detuned the speed on the low setting, so its weak on low setting compared to v6, only advantage is the new empty system

  • Been wanting a Dyson for a while but just couldn't bring my head around the price tag so this is great, picking up tomorrow. Thanks for posting!

  • Thanks! Just got one 🙏

  • Will there be a sale on the v10 today?

  • FYI, Good Guys doing this for $298 today only.

    • Hey where did you see this price ? It shows $347 for me at tgg’s website.

      • In-store I got one

    • Do you know what the price comes down to?

      • Keen to know also..

        • +1

I called and they said 570 (approx) less 230

          • @tofu hunter: Thanks champ! Looks like Dyson Ebay store with PRIZE code would be best still if you haven't used it up yet. $314.10 delivered.

  • For those wanting to know what screws you need for the wall bracket of this and the V6. I brought the Ramset wallmate twist and lock with screw set. About $5 from Bunnings. Holds 20kg. Onto plaster. Just use wood screws if you can find a stud. pack of 4. You'll need to predrill a hole with an 8mm bit. use a level and pencil to mark on wall. You maybe able to use the 10Kg set, but just brought the highest weight set.

The Dyson set doesn't come with screws to fit the wall bracket to it.
