Just tried to understand pricing for a >20kg dog - and was asked for email and postcode. No pricing (I could find) on the website…

    • +2

It took me all of 5 seconds to put in my email and postcode. Price was there after that. I had a quick scroll through the terms and looks like you can cancel after the first month if you wanted to. They're obviously wanting to bill you monthly though.

    • +2

      Hi Willyroo,
We do tailor the plans around location (why we ask for the postcode), but please find a direct link here for 20kg+ dogs: https://fleamail.com.au/large-dog-plan/

The pricing includes everything, such as tape and heartworm protection too, so love to know how that compares for you!

      Thanks mate,
      Adam

  • First month? How long toyou have to sign up for?

    • +1

Hi, happy to say there are no contracts, it's a simple monthly subscription service!!

  • Need to understand details of what will be covered, Fleas, Ticks and worms is quite generic

    • +2

Sounds like a question that would be asked pretty frequently ;)

Hi Killbill (great movie: ) …this might help: https://fleamail.com.au/products/

But all major Aussie parasite, paralysis ticks, mites, mange - our Vets use the above product combinations as they cover more than any standalone product.

      Hope that helps?

  • +1

And in what way does this differ from buying 6-12 months worth of Nexgard Spectra for $100?

    • +1

Hi Smileyface, thanks for asking! Nexgard Spectra actually doesn't cover a lot of parasites (that result in vet visits), mites, tapeworm and mange being the major ones. I'm not the Vet here, but if you email info @ fleamail.com.au our Vet Dr Evan Shaw can send you a much better answer: ) FleaMail also arrives each month for Free, so you never need to worry (or forget …which is a big one) Hope that helps??

      • Nexgard Spectra actually doesn't cover a lot of parasites (that result in vet visits), mites, tapeworm and mange being the major ones

        Petcircle would disagree with you

        • +1

Hey Willyroo, we actually use the original Nexgard …but that comparison chart is a little grey, i.e. Spectra didn't cover these things a year ago - and now it does even though the actual product hasn't changed. I'm not the Vet here, but would love to be able to give you a technical explanation like our Vets can, so if you would like to email Dr Evan (https://fleamail.com.au/our-vet/) on info @ fleamail.com.au he can send you a much better answer: )

          • +1

@Adam FleaMail: Hi Adam, could you please post the explanation here for everyone's benefit? The drug companies have to provide evidence to the APVMA to make these claims, so if it's on the label it's legitimate. Sometimes companies will get their product on the market quickly and then run extra studies later on to expand their label.

Nexgard spectra (Boehringer Ingelheim) covers all relevant fleas, ticks, mites, heartworm, and intestinal worms EXCEPT for tapeworms. For a 20kg dog, 6 months will cost about $140. Or you could use the Big 5 pack (Elanco) that also does tapeworms for the same price. (Prices from https://www.petstock.com.au/dog/flea-worm/flea-tick-treatmen… ).
You seem to come in sightly more expensive plus have the added concern about lost mail and uncontrolled temperature conditions in transit (I wouldn't want my pet's meds heating up in the sun).
Also, what drugs and brands do your actually send for that price?

  • +1

    Thanks will give a go!

  • +2

Parasite treatment huh. Time to apply at my workplace.

  • Easier: $21.99 p/m (72c a day!)

Ah darn. Was about to sign up thinking it was $5 the first month and $10 every month after.

However, it seems to be $22 per month after the first so I'll have to pass.

    • Hi ChillBro!
Thanks for the feedback, we appreciate it. As a Vet run team, we'd love to be able to offer comprehensive protection for less, but we're already more cost-effective than major pet stores and clinics for the same level of coverage. If we could offer a comprehensive $10 plan it'd save thousands of animals a year (see here: https://fleamail.com.au/our-vet/ ) - so hopefully in the future this is possible. If it ever is (with Vet grade products), we'll be the first to do it: )

  • I’m still confused as to what you get and how much the ongoing monthly cost is. For cats, do you get the flea and wormer or just flea? How much is it after the initial month?

    • Hi UndeclaredFreak, thanks for asking!

Here are a few links that should help:
Info on treatments, products used etc: https://fleamail.com.au/faqs/
And here's a direct link to the cats plan page: https://fleamail.com.au/cat-plan/

But let me sum it up too because it is full Flea & Worming: )

      For cats (common plan):

Monthly: Advocate or Revolution for fleas, ear mites, mange, intestinal and heartworm.
      Quarterly: Popantel TapeWormer for tapeworm.

It's $10 to try ($5 with the Ozbargain RESCUE50 code) …then $18.99 delivered each month, no contracts - and ANY sized cat!!
If you have two cats there's an auto 10% discounts, 15% for three or more.

      Hope that helps?

      Cheers,
      Adam

They clearly say the first month is 50% off at $5. Can't you do the math?

        • 50% off a first month introductory offer of $10

My fake email provided dog over 20kg $25 a month and cat $19

More then double what I pay by buy 6/12 months at a time

          • @Bad Wolf: Hi @badwolf,
Do you mind posting what products you currently use?

            (and what pets you have?).

For the same level of protection we work out around 30% less (across all pets) than large Aussie pet stores and clinics.

So we're curious, and I can pass this onto our Vets.

            Cheers,
            Adam

            • @Adam FleaMail: 2.9kg & 6.3kg cats both indoor using advocate.
              20kg 25kg 40kg dogs using sentinel spectrum.
Edit: add profender for the cats biannually approx $25

All at ideal weights and never have issue with worms/fleas and the dogs aren’t in bush afffected by ticks.

For approximate ozbargainer pricing. 6 pack for the cats under $50
              Sentinel 6 pack $70-$80

              • @Bad Wolf: where are you getting sentinel spectrum 6 pack for $70-$80?

                • +1

@flashi007: For the Blue large dog.
Good pricing is available a multiple times a year and as it’s a 6 month product majority of major pet suppliers will state their products have 12+ months - only ever recieved 11 month from budget pet
Last purchase was November click frenzy at Petstock 50% off all flea/wormers. Came down to $73 plus 5% cashrewards and 15% through their own rewards program, free delivery and no minimum, I bought 6 packs.

Budget pet on eBay has maybe every 2/3 months a sale price of $92/$93 and there’s usually a 10% code brings down to $83 before any discounted ebay giftcards. Checked right now they have a 9 pack for $144 as a regular everyday price, add a $6 item and you can use p10less for 10% off down to equivalent of $86 per 6 pack, I still have 15% discounted ebay gift cards so for me that would be a today not trying or waiting price of $73.44 but having to buy 1.5 packs

Petbarn used to have good promo stacks that they honoured, was on ozbargain 2 for $130 early 2018/ late 2017, I used to regularly buy at $70 before they changed their system.

              • @Bad Wolf: Hey @badwolf, thanks for this, it helps a lot.

I guess for the dogs we need to compare apples to apples, Sentinel (spectrum) doesn't cover ticks & mites which for most dog owners is a big thing. When FleaMail's compared to similar coverage (especially for your 40kg dog) it's a fair bit different price wise. This is what we cover: https://fleamail.com.au/small-dog-plan/ - and the products we use for reference: https://fleamail.com.au/faqs/

Re cats, the pricing is ozbargain which is cool, but not always available.

Great to see you've got it all covered though!!!

I think we're appealing to folks who would just rather have someone take care of it, and in that case, believe FleaMail's a great service that's cheaper if you're not a dedicated ozbargainer: ) We're also run 100% by Vets, which means that we're not handing this stuff out like candy (aka Aussie pet stores). When you sign-up we ask some key medical questions and our Vets will call you if there are any flags at all - so there's that too.

Thanks for taking the time to let us know too, really appreciate it as we're passionate about being the easy, and affordable option for busy pet owners
                .

                Cheers,
                Adam

                • @Adam FleaMail: I appreciate the buisness model, if it was cheaper I’d be on board.

              • @Bad Wolf: Sorry I forgot to mention, FleaMail also has an automatic 15% discount for 3 or more pets (10% for 2 pets) - so need to factor that into it too. We don't promote this but multi-pet owners find it a nice bonus: )

      • Hey @iforgotmysocks,

The site is setup for a number of campaigns, not just this offer …so apologies.
If you want to let me know what kind of pet you have, I'll send you a direct link.

        Cheers,
        Adam

    • To the rep

The first comment makes a valid point. There are plenty of people who won’t look at a shop or website if a log in is needed. Why not try without the need for an email and compare your traffic - I’m sure it will increase.

      • Hi Flashi,
We've tried it (no email)….for a few months.

The problem is, there's a lot of info about what we do, and when this was all on the website, people would fall asleep (or click away as we've A/B tested). The email allows us to fill in the blanks, like more specifically what products we use - what certain members are saving etc. And of course, you can unsubscribe at any time.

        Cheers,
        Adam

    • Didn't this get posted a few weeks back? = duplicate?

A quick search: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/437237 yep, same code too. Which leads me to believe this is spam/advertising.

      • Hi PRor,
Yeah it sure did, and we mention that in the very first line of the offer.

I'm not quite sure how that's spam, both offers are only for a limited time ….but is this not how it works?

        Cheers,
        Adam

        • Try reactivating the previous deal? Or you could run this deal every hour, and repost because its a limited time offer.

          • @PR0r: Okay, I did not know re-activating was a thing…sorry mate.

Well have a look, but now that this offer is running I'm wondering if that'd be an even worse idea…I read everything about promoting on Ozbargain but must have missed the re-activating bit, hmmm, thanks for letting us know!!

    • +1

So after looking at the comments above, I checked my Fleamail subscription and see I paid $10 for the initial promotion, and my ongoing is $25! None of the emails I received state the $25/month, I had to login and view my subscriptions to see this.

The site is very poorly designed if it's not clear what this is costing people. I was under the impression I paid $5 and was going to pay $10/month ongoing.

      Not happy. Cancelled my subscription.

      • -2

        Hi @Kapone,
I believe it's pretty clear (i.e. every button you click on) say's "TRY for $10" ….https://fleamail.com.au/small-dog-plan/

And this promotion is clearly 50% off that, so $5.

There's not much text on this page, but did you not see the price or read it? https://fleamail.com.au/small-dog-plan/

I must ask however as you're referring to the large dog plan ($24.99 a month) - do you currently protect your dog against Fleas, Ticks, Mites & Worms (including heartworm)?

Because we have tonnes of members who are saving hundreds a year from our costs, especially for dogs over 40kg.
We're yet to hear outrage from this pricing, most people say quite the opposite, and it's delivered for free to your door as a bonus.

        Sorry to see you go.

        Adam

  • Large dog pricing $26/month. I get nexgard and interceptor spectrum and buy 6 months worth at a time. Comes to about $22/month.
