[VIC] Free Entry to Melbourne Grand Prix on Thursday for People Living in Postcodes 3205, 3206 & 3182

80

Handy for people in these postcodes to get in for a day at the GP. Not a huge amount on the track but still plenty to see I'm sure.

This year, the Australian Grand Prix Corporation are pleased to offer free General Admission tickets to our local community on Thursday 14 March. Thursday entry also includes free access to all grandstands.

Residents and business owners within the postcodes 3182, 3205 and 3206 can present a valid ID showing their address which will grant them a General Admission access to the event.

  • I wonder if showing them a utility bill counts as ID

Don't want to rain on the parade, but if this is only access to the track on Thursday, you won't be seeing any F1 cars…

The first session (Practice 1) is on Friday afternoon.

Plenty of other car action to be had, but you're right, no F1 -although they'll likely have the 2-seater flying around with some B-grade celebrity in the back.

(The 2-seater is the only time you'll hear a beautiful old school V10 all weekend).

        Yep but I bring that up because the title reads "Free Entry to Melbourne Formula 1 Grand Prix", which is quite misleading as;

        1. The actual Melbourne Formula 1 Grand Prix is on Sunday, and
        2. There literally won't be a single 2019 F1 car on track on Thursday…

Should instead say free entry to Albert Park on Thursday or something similar as Thursday has literally nothing to do with F1.
If the average person read that they'd reasonably expect to be seeing Formula 1, not Formula 4 or the Carrera Cup.

Still a decent day out if you live in the area as many support series' will be running on Thursday (even V8 Supercars should have a qualy session that day.)

Edit: For those negging me for a perfectly valid point, the title has now been changed to completely remove any mention of Formula 1…

  • Do people in those postcodes really need free anything lol

    • Rich people always get freebies, while us peasants get shafted

      • We in those postcodes suffer the noise and unwashed hordes using our footpaths, breathing our Bayside air and illegally parking in our permit zones …

They are the suburbs surrounding the race track, in other words, if you think the noise you suffer at your home isn't loud enough, come and join us.
Feel sorry for residents and workers who have to suffer days & nights of noise nuisance!

    • I used to live in Middle Park and it is an absolute nightmare. The worst part isn't the getting around (which is absolutely hideous) it's that the cars will start blasting around the track at around 7am each day from about Tuesday doing testing

Once upon a time I used to enjoy the sport of F1, now I despise it with every inch of my soul

Boo hoo. Give it back to Adelaide.

Sound like a North Adelaide resident….

Several days a year big deal.

  • Vroooooommmmmm……. vrooooooommmm…. vrooooooommmm….
That's what it's like for those days.

  • Have a buddy who lives there, was stoked until I saw you need an ID from the area.

At least he'll have fun. :'(
