  • So I can't put a SIM card in it and get internet? I have to buy a separate dongle? Why would I choose this over a Optus or Telstra pocket wifi ?

    • This doesn't require battery power but instead runs off a mains DC power adaptor, none of that lasting up to 8 hours before a battery runs flat.

    • +1

Also this router having big antennas would have way better WiFi signal range performance than those little pocket WiFi devices which probably would struggle to transmit through most walls.

  • +2

We should be able to leave the battery powered ones plugged in to the charger and never run out of battery.

    • Can't you just leave them on charge?

This is a BYO 4G dongle. They would have been better off giving away a 4G dongle instead of a camera lol.
    That deal was better.
I've got the D-Link DWR922 and although it does the job briantly, the web interface of any D-Link products is just terrible (at least products I owned from them…)

  • If I was in the market for one, I'd rather go for either a TL-MR3420 ($45) and use it with an existing usb dongle, or a TL-MR6400 which has a SIM Card slot.

I was previously thinking about getting this but got the Netgear Nighthawk M1 5g WiFi hotspot and the Tenda MW3 mesh network. I now get 80 Mbps throughout the whole house. I've also got a $25 Alcatel MW41 hotspot from office works as back up and get between 12 and 25 Mbps on that.

Not sure why you would buy this.

Can you get a Netgear Nighthawk M1 for say $69?. I only saw it going online for about $369 which may be way too expensive for most people. Maybe that's why people may not be buying that but instead this.

      • Got my NetGear Nighthawk M1 for $146 from ebay using a 20% discount code and vouchers bought for 10% off. Definitely worth the extra money.

    Awesome deal!

The D-Link DCS-8000LH Mini HD Wi-Fi camera is selling for $99 at MSY.
So spending only $69 you get $168 worth of goods.

Could someone please give me an excuse to spend $69 on something I don't need?

    • Also the RRP on the DWR-118 alone is $149.95 and it's selling at OW for $148. But that's retail.

      • I can't find it on OW's website…
was going to ask for price match…

        • A search would have found it easily. Never mind you could still try for a price match as it is definitely sold at OW.

          • @hollykryten: Thanks, it showed error when I click through Google search an hour ago, not sure why…
You do get the camera, it's a Dlink redemption
But it only has 1 x Gigabit LAN port, not too good…

            • @TanedaR: Yeah i always search for the stuff on the OW web site itself as it's way more accurate.

  • This is good deal, I bought DWR-118 from HN last week $99. Already submitted the form via Dlink online to claim the IP camera.

I got a problem about the download speed. My 4G dongle which is Huawei E3372 Optus unlocked, working good individually,30-60Mbps. But if 4G dongle + DWR118 working together, the download speed via DWR-118(whatever Wifi or LAN) is quite slow, around 1Mbps, upload speed is OK, 4Mbps-20Mbps. I tried Optus/Vodafone/Telstra, all same issue. I changed the APN setting followed Optus or Telstra website guide, still very slow. Even reset DWR-118, doesn't work. I think maybe this router is a faulty product.

Anybody used this 4G router before? If you can share your experience much appreciated.

Hmm… i encountered the same issue with the same Huawei E3372 usb dongle. Speed seems capped for downlink around 1Mbps, but uplink was fine (greater than 8Mbps). Maybe a bottleneck due to incompatible firmware issue.

      • Thanks for your reply. My workmate has a E5573,I will try that one once I grab it.

        • I have a same E5573. Tried it. Could not configure it as it's a standalone 4G modem and tethering via usb does not seem to work even though on the support list.

  • that comment will go well with that deal. E3372 for $15 @ Officeworks
