Read this review and you probably wouldn't want to go there with a Voucher…

    http://www.urbanspoon.com/u/profile/1374755/Gaz-Wilson.html

    Only 6 days ago too…

(It's in Port Melbourne, not Melbourne !!!)

  • Wow, what a disgusting attitude this cafe has. That is appalling! People can spend their voucher any way they want and get the advertised value. What a way to turn people away from their business…

    • That is appalling!

I agree… I wasn't going to purchase this voucher anyway because it's not in the CBD, but I'll make a note of NEVER ever going to this place if that's how they treat customers, especially kids…

    • Did you see the entry from the owner? Calling the people with the vouchers "greedy" for ordering so much food. Bit perplexing since the vouchers were for $70/$80 dollars and would (I presume) have to be used in a single go.

Just reinforces my opinion of the coupon/deal sites and the businesses that use them…

      • Just reinforces my opinion of the coupon/deal sites and the businesses that use them…

I heard yesterday on the news that the ACCC are looking into these companies with some likely changes being made to Consumer Laws to protect customers from Companies not paying up…

  • i never bought from them cause they wont very good value.
considering others vouchers have been $80 for only 2 ppl.
it's forcing you to waste food or not get the most value out of your money
and i really dont like that.

I've seen voucher for this place about 4 times now.
i dont know why they bother when its obivous they dont want
    to provide the discount!!!

It's interesting that some members immediately started talking about a few negative reviews and completely disregarded all the positive ones. In this case the positive reviews out number the negative about 5 to 1. I wonder what this says about these members.

    • +4

I wonder what this says about these members.

it says their is a 20% chance that you will be treated like S#1T at this place…

have you read the comments ???? and you are trying to defend these actions ???? ha….

      • -7

That is true statistically, however if you go to other cafes on the same Urbanspoon site, you will find that this statistic is actually in the top 10% of all cafes out there. The majority are worse. Why would you look at negatives when they are a minority? A fairly pessimistic outlook on life….

        • +5

Your making yourself as well as your company look really bad by talking like that.. seriously

        • +2

Aim low. achieve low. well done.

        • i wasn't actually looking at the stats when i voted -ve…

i read about that poor family's experience and how they kid were treated… (i have 2 young kids too, and they often share our food at cafes).
On a scale from 1 to 10, i would have voted -10 for customer service… it was appalling treatment…

Then you read the comment made by the owner, claiming that customers with vouchers are greedy ??? WT!!! they obviously don't want customers to use the vouchers, and obviously don't care too much about customers returning…

        • Thanks for your replies Gregor. Your attitude has convinced me NEVER to use Spreets. I'll certainly link to your comments when talking about the terrible customer service of coupon sites.

A decent company wouldn't want 1 customer to have this sort of bad experience (let alone your own prediction of 20%). Why do you continue to do business with places like Third Wave Cafe when they treat so many of your paying cstomers so badly?

        • Why do you continue to do business with places like Third Wave Cafe when they treat so many of your paying cstomers so badly?

          $$$ ???

        • +1

Hi Rep, are you able to clarify whether you are a rep for Spreets or a rep for Third Wave Cafe? I noticed your other bargain post was also that for a Third Wave Cafe coupon with a link to a non-Spreets coupon site, so am thinking it's the latter. Thanks!

      • +2

Watch out gregor20 - you've pissed jv off!

    • +1

c'mon - lets be serious. one unhappy customer says a lot. a ratio of 1:5 of unhappy customers say a LOT more. Time to fix it.

      • You are correct! We have heard the issues stated and have and will continue to improve the weaknesses in customer service. That is without question.

    • It's not like there's not a history of poor experiences with these vouchers - hell there's a whole forum full of complaints…

Someone pointed out the negative experience someone had using another one of your vouchers, and they are not the only ones. It prompted me to investigate further. I found the response from the (supposed) owner to be laughable given that they are complaining about the people using the deal that they sold to them (the nerve!)

I particularly find this kind of information useful - that's the benefit of social sites such as this one. What that says about me? I'm a savvy and informed consumer, and I will continue to avoid deals such as these where companies don't want my business are being represented by companies that employ shady practices

  • +1

thats very poor form by the vendor. I dont see why a voucher customer would get ANY less service compared to ANY other customer. I make a habit of not disclosing a voucher is being used until payment time - the benefit of the voucher (if there was one) is for the customer, not the vendor.

Vouchers are sometimes given as gifts - kinda shooting themselves in the foot really, arent they. Can you imaging receiving that voucher as a gift?

As a business I have offered vouchers in the past and I certainly dont offer any different service levels - all the same high level of service.

As Darren would say.. Shame shame shame.

  • kind of makes a joke of the comment this same Rep made about the same place on an earlier deal…

"Our main goal is to treat customers in the best way possible to make clients for life."

LOL read the comment/review from the owner about all the complaints where the food is taking 45 minutes…

"These voucher holders in their greed order an enormous amount of food for a table of 2 people. "

    http://www.urbanspoon.com/u/profile/1116073/Inga-Feldman.htm…

Seems like it's run by people who should not be working in Hospitality…

Does it remind people of a particular Seinfeld episode? :P

    • +3

      No soup for you… NEXT!

    • +1

I don't see why cafe food will take 45 minutes to cook?
And i really hope the "coupon" peopel don't have to wait longer than the " non coupon " people

      • +1

And i really hope the "coupon" peopel don't have to wait longer than the " non coupon " people

Maybe they are forced to wait because they are 'greedy' ????

    • Where did you find the quote from? I'd like to see the actual post for context (if there was any).

      Ta

      • +1

Where did you find the quote from?

LOL, the owner removed the post !!!

I wonder why ???? How dodgy is that ???

I wonder how long before they deny they even posted those comments ???

  • here's their one and only review on eatability…

"The customer service here was some of the worst I have ever experienced. The way the senior staff spoke to us was a disgrace. Maybe some of the best coffee in Melbourne but with service like that they won't be around long. Do not go there.

By the reps admission, you have a 1:5 chance of terrible "service". A gamble, not a bargain.

    • +1

Compared to winning Tattslotto though, the odds are good… :P

    • He did say statistically from the feedback

Thought I would share with you guys my experience as everybody here is relying on comments on other websites. I bought the ourdeal voucher and ate at the restaurant with my wife and baby about a month ago. We were treated well and the cafe never commented about the voucher. A lot of places require a booking before using a group buying voucher, but the cafe were fine with walk ins. At the end they just toted it all up at the end, gave me a card for 10 free coffees and said thank you. I thought the service was ok and the food was nice. My wife liked it a lot and paid full price for a meal with a friend a week later. Clearly I can't comment on others' experiences but can only share mine.

    • +1

Clearly I can't comment on others' experiences but can only share mine.

yep, according to the Rep, only every 5th customer will get treated like CRAP… You were one of the lucky 4… :)

    • Thank you for your frank review of your experience. Please believe me when I say this, you have described what happens normally. The bad reviews that everyone has commented on seem to described an event that was not the norm. However, they want to focus on it. If all of us just focused on bad reviews I don't think we would do business with the majority of businesses out there.

      • The bad reviews that everyone has commented on seem to described an event that was not the norm.

you yourself admitted that it happens 20% of the times…

    • +5

Well, good on you. I went with 2 young kids using the same OurDeal voucher. Due to a misunderstanding, they shared some of our food. When it came time to pay, the lady owner accused us of sharing which was against the conditions, I explained I already said at the start I would share a li'll with my kids, and my mate who came in the week before did the same, and it was ok for them! She replied "I don't care what yr friend got or didn't get last week!"

She went into the kitchen & brought out the cook. He promptly told us in a very firm manner, "You pay full price for 2 persons(about $30). No arguing! You pay NOW! I hate it when people take advantage!"

We didn't surrepticiously pass food to the kids, we sat at the front table, in full view of everyone. Obviously if we were trying to take advantage, it wd've been done on the sly!

Anyway, after some discussion (as voices were being raised), the lday boss whispered to the cook, and he "reduced" the "penalty" to $15. I paid up. They kept the additional $20-30 coffee voucher (entitlement under Our Deal) for subsequent visits. I didn't bother arguing further, it's not like there's any chance I would return to the place after being publicly humiliated & treated like a criminal!

      • +1

it's not like there's any chance I would return to the place after being publicly humiliated & treated like a criminal!

i wonder why they care that little kids eat some of your food ???

if you don't finish your meal, do they serve the left overs to other customers ???? :O

  • "Third Wave Cafe (in Port Melbourne)
What is Russian For Customer Service
May 09, 2011 - Doesn't like it I deffinetly won't be going back and would not reccomend it to anyone"

    From the review
    Lol/

  • I'm another of the lucky 4.

Our whole family went alone (2A+2yo+4yo). Good food, good service, great coffee.

Yes I went back, and yes it was without a voucher.

    • +1

Who are the other two ???

      • -5

        You just can't help yourself….

        • +1

          You just can't explain yourself….

      • -6

and yes I know you will now say something else nasty about the cafe that you have never been to or the rep that you have never met

        • +2

and you still can't explain the attitude of the owner…

i'm merely commenting on how customers have been treated… i'm not making any personal attacks on you, so i don't know why you are attacking me…

        • +5

Here's a nice little suggestion for anyone in the customer service business, how about treating your potential customers with a bit of respect?

        • +2

how about treating your potential customers with a bit of respect?

seems a bit too hard for some…

easier to abuse your customers than have to explain bad service…

  • +4

Customer service isn't a negotiation or an argument.
    It a set of standards.
Some of these fools should spend a little time in Japan or the States and get the tiny beginnings of a clue. I love Australia dearly but generally customer service sucks here.
    This cafe sounds ridiculous.

  • Looks like the owner has removed her comments from Urbanspoon where she was putting down customers who used vouchers…

    How dodgy

  • Russian cafe? Hmm don't think I've ever had Russian food… Might have to try some (from somewhere else though)

    • +5

      Russian cafe?

I doubt they are Russian if it takes 45 minutes to get your food…

  • +1

lol @ rep digging the business into a deeper hole.
