Samsung Galaxy S10 (128GB, Prism Black) $1,129 + Delivery @ Dick Smith / Kogan ($1,082 with O/W Price Beat)

71

Dick Smith have reduced their price for the Samsung Galaxy S10 down from $1,349 to $1,129.

I had Officeworks price beat it get the price down to $1,082.05.Took some discussion as they tried to claim the following wording on the Dick Smith website meant it was international stock, "Note: May not be compatible with Samsung Pay in AU/NZ due to global stock variation, but you still may be able to use Google Pay or your bank app’s tap-and-pay", but once I spoke to the manager they agreed to price beat - Officeworks also included same day delivery free of charge.

  • I thought price beat is not counted as deal?

Not only that price beat isn't supposed to be counted as a deal - this is clearly a mistake or goodwill that the manager elected to allow the price match to go through.

The price match should be for the "exact same produce" - the Dick Smith/Kogan deal is not the "EXACT SAME" product because they are grey imports (most likely from Hong Kong).

What this means is that it comes with certain caveats - the Samsung Pay incompatibility being one - and warranty issues being another. It only comes with Dick Smith/Kogan warranty and not Samsung's manufacturer's warranty.

This price match should not even have been allowed in the first place. Good for you that you were able to get it, whether it was lack of understanding by the manager or goodwill - but it does not guarantee that others will be so lucky.

Also note that this is the "Dual SIM" model - another dead giveaway that it is the Asian model.

Australian Samsung Galaxy S10 models are Single SIM only.

    • Agree with this. Nearly all Dick Smith and Kogan phones are International Models, don't come with the genuine charger and are dual sim compared to the Australian single sim version. We would also have to include delivery cost to price match from both those sites.

      You got very lucky.

In saying that, it's always worth a try to get Officeworks to price beat because a lot of employees and managers are stupid.

      -Officeworks employee.

Thanks and worth noting. It does indicate similar product “identical’

This is a dual sim phone so is it ‘identical’ ?

So the manager interpreted this as being identical.

I guess it all comes down to OW deciding if it’s worth it to them for the sale. If it was below cost/profitable, it probably would be not ‘identical’

My Mobile has the white S10+ dual sim at similar price and it is a physical store.

    https://mymobile.com.au/samsung-galaxy-s10-plus-dual-sim-g97…

So this is not a bargain at all.

Thanks for posting this previously, ya know, when i was searching for deals…. and for down voting even though this deal is cheaper.

Also "Seller: Mymobile Hong Kong" - I'd prefer to support Ozzy businesses if possible.

      • Supporting Oz business does not mean that we can be ripped off. If Kogan provides international stock of S10, this can be compared to the offers from other grey stock sellers.

S10 AU stock was dropped to below $1,100 (with 2 years warranty and official Samsung support):

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/452234 (Amazon AU)
        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/450628 (Mobileciti eBay)

How can the grey stock at the similar price without warranty and official support be a bargain?

Among overseas stocks, the price from Kogan is also not a bargain because other sellers such as mymobile have already sold S10 at the similar price or even lower.

It is encouraged to post new deals but better to do some search on the forum before posting.

    • it is a physical store

For me, the commute from Launceston to Brisbane would be prohibitive. Even after adding the $24.99 shipping fee the Kogan deal is a few bucks cheaper for me. And I have no need to use a second SIM.

      • Waiting for the AU model drop and price beat or match in Officeworks or JB might be the better choice.

Really hope Snapdragon chip can be rocked in AU version instead of Exynos:(

  • To be honest, I came from note 9 to s10 and it's an absolute disappointment. Speakers sound either muddy or too high in pitch. Depends are you listening to music or using it for conversations, affects loudness of ringtone also. Screen colours are washed out. Doesn't have to have popped colours like previous Samsung phones, but looks washed out, there are few ways around it but still, isn't it. Battery life is significantly less, no notification LED light, miss that heaps, like this i constantly have to click on the screen to turn on to see if there are new notifications, there's ways around but drains battery, vibration on the phone is also pretty weak, screen finger print scanner is a gimmick, same as face
recognition to unlock, it's a hit and miss, doesn't work if you have a glass protector on it. Was thinking to switch to s10 plus but I fear it's same crap with just a bit bigger screen and battery.

I only switched as I wanted something a bit smaller, but appears with Samsung that smaller is smaller, worse in every way. Very disappointed, S and note series are supposed to be Samsungs top phones with high end components.

    • Shit phones.

      • Apple fan?

  • Hey OP, Is this the snapdragon version?

    • In Kogan's page, it says SD or Exynos. Need to ask Kogan directly about the model number.

  • Any receipt? Will it work at JB or other store?

  • "Took some discussion as they tried to claim the following wording on the Dick Smith website meant it was international stock"

What did you say to the manager to make he cave in and offer you the price match??

  • I find a lot of stores to be funny about price matching Kogan & Dick Smith, understandably. Officeworks only agreed to price match them on something for me when i showed them the page saying the item was Australian stock and comes with Australian warranty. JB HiFi on the other hand refused to do so even when i showed them that.
