Interesting. Pixel 3 is still more expensive than a S10e today.

And that's why Pixel 3 has the lowest sales ever of all Google phones. It's probably why they are releasing Pixel 3a.

Agree.. they should have just stayed with Nexus line. Affordable flagships! A void that now 1+ and Poco are filling. Such a shame :( My Nexus 6P was AMAZING experience

        • The Nexus phones were affordable but never considered premium.

          • +7

@magic8ballgag: Pixels do not feel any more premium than Nexuxes.

            • @SpaceNinja: For someone that doesn't care much about physical materials, of course they don't.

          • @magic8ballgag: Neither were Pixels to be fair.

            • -1

@onlinepred: I disagree, they were always intended and considered to be a flagship smartphone offering from Google.

              • @magic8ballgag: But quality wise they never really compared against other flagships. I mean they are about the same quality as Nexus 6 or nexus 6p, yet much more expensive. They might have wanted them to be premium, but they weren't.

                • @onlinepred: To be honest built and quality of Nexus6P felt much more Premium than Pixels … at least to me

                  How so?

Whilst I agree the Nexus phones were high quality for their price, they certainly weren't free from issues, as my 5X is still in a bootloop coma.

                  • +1

@magic8ballgag: And my og pxl had bootloop, mic issue, my p2xl had screen issue, speaker issue, call drop issue, my p3xl had poor phone call quality, couldn't hold apps in memory.

Going from 3xl to s10e makes me realise just how they compare.

@onlinepred: And Samsung phones are catching fire and exploding in owner's hands, what's your point?

There's no guarantee a device won't have issues, so while you personally feel refreshed going from a Pixel to a Galaxy (as is normally the case of getting a new phone), it's definitely not an indication of how they compare overall.

Same. Was gutted when my 6P died in December. It was such a beautifully crafted phone. And those front firing speakers! If they can make that phone again, slightly slimmer, dual/tri camera set up, bigger battery, waterproof, and smaller bezels, I'd by two of them (in case one dies or is lost/stolen) and use them for the next 6 years.

Not sore why you would even consider pixel 3 right now.

      • What would you recommend? I'm avoiding Samsung for personal reasons, Huawei seems like another commercial ethics lesson in the making.

        • Well it's really your call. Samsung is far better value and a far better phone right now. If you are limiting yourself for various reasons then it appears Apple or Google might be the best bet for you.

        • What about the new One+?

  • Don't forget gift cards.

Probably the worst phone you can buy rn.

    • What would be a good phone to consider then? My wife needs an upgrade - must be Android and not Samsung as we have not liked either the S5 or S8 we've had.
She thought this one looked like a good candidate.

Wait and see if the 3A is up your alley.
"All signs currently point towards a reveal for the Pixel 3A and Pixel 3A XL during Google’s I/O 2019 keynote on May 7th next week." - verge

      • Samsung is android btw. If she didn't like Samsung s8, she won't like the Pixel. It's exactly the same = android.

        • It is definitely not the same experience of android….

          • -2

@viggenn: What do you mean? You can do all the same things you can on pixels, but there are more options. I mean going from P3XL to S10E I can say it's mostly exactly the same, but I can do far more on the S10E, and things like call quality, build quality, software etc are much better on S10E. So if you make calls/ speakerphone etc I wouldn't touch a pixel. My opinion is that for sure stock android offers a great experience like iPhone does, but the hardware and build is what lets it down as that's what you use with the phone. Too many issues with Pixels at this stage, the premium is not worth it. S10E is a fantastic phone, if you don't like android, then you won't like samsung or pixel. If all you want to do is use a basic phone, I can't recommend iphones more highly, get an iphone 8 or X and it will be a great phone for many years to come, unlike most androids.

        • Same OS, but the user experience is much different given the many options/tweaks One UI brings with it.

          • -2

@Trishool: Yep, everything you can do on pixel you can do on Samsung, but not the other way.

        • Sorry I should have put in more detail. The camera has had various issues in both Samsungs. The battery life has badly deteriorated after about 18 months also, and don't get me started on Bixby. We're done with Samsungs.

          • +1

@GreyMelb: Oh okay. I have Bixby to turn the torch on whole lock screen is there. Is also the pause/play button for media and swaps video/photo while on camera. Also single press opens Google assistant. People use Bixby the wrong way, they think it is a competitor to Google assistant which it isn't. Any battery will deteriote in any phone, often a factory reset will fix this. If you take videos Samsung is far better than my old 3xl. Anyway I know I can't convince you otherwise, personally I'd get your wife an android if she isn't a fan of Samsung's, slowing down, battery issues are a symptom of any android, pixels included.

    • Care to share as to why you say that ?

You whinge about every phone that you don't own. Here and Whirlpool. It's old, try contributing something useful for a change.

      • Yet you still reply.

        • Someone has to give the attention you so desperately seek.

  • +1

Don't buy this phone. Microphone has issues

  • Way overpriced.. Give me a xiaomi or Huawei any day of the week.

  • Have this phone and while I love that it's stock android and the camera is top notch, I wouldn't buy at that price. Battery Life isn't great, a lot of the cool AI features like Call Screen won't ever come to Australia, screen isn't very bright and I do think the 10e offers better value.
