Don’t buy this, get a Vodafone tv and sideload Foxtel now. You’ll be forever waiting for the Foxtel box to load.

I have not used the Vodafone tv but i have this foxtel box and its by far the most frustrating android box i have owned.

    • I just ordered a VTV. Can't wait to try it out!

For those that get this or already have it, there is now a Foxtel Go add-on that can be used with the Kodi fork WBMC on the Foxtel Now Box:

This is so much slow get xiaomi mi box or Vodafone TV much much better I regretted buying this so I sold on Gumtree

  • Does Vodafone tv or mi box has the newer 4k chromecast built in?

    • +1

Vodafone TV and xiaomi mi box both have 4K Chromecast functionality built-in but xiaomi has an edge over Vodafone TV because of some improvements for example the refresh rate switching.etc

      • Thanks will buy mi box then

      • Can mi box stream movie from NAS via Plex?

        • yeah, thats what i use my mi box for.

  • Can you get free to air on the vodafone tv?
My antenna is stuffed n missus wants free to air and looking for non subsciption (via internet) way of getting free to air channels can this device do it?

    • This won't help. You need the aerial connection. I have a similar problem at my place.

      Copy-paste from their description -
^Requires Free to Air aerial connected to Foxtel Now box. Please note: Free-To-Air channels will vary based on location and not all channels are available in all areas.

      • Check out the posts from kirt and I below to stream the channels, not sure if the TVIRL app will be available on the Foxtel box because they've limited the store, but it works great on Vodafone TV

        • Thanks

Get the Kodi add on for IPTV Au. I use this on my tv that has no aerial connection. See next comment.

Get the Vodafone TV, then use either Live Channels or Kodi to get watch Freeview over the internet:

      • hi mate.. can you explain in simpler language- how to load free to air on vodafone TV. My antenna is stuffed as well.. Many thanks.

Click the first link he posted.

          1. Download the app on your voda tv (TVirl) link on the page
          2. Open the app and its fairly self explanatory just include the strings in the post eg

          Playlist URL: http://i.mjh.nz/au/{REGION}/kodi-tv.m3u8
          eg. http://i.mjh.nz/au/Sydney/kodi-tv.m3u8

          EPG URL: htts://i.mjh.nz/au/{REGION}/epg.xml
          eg. http://i.mjh.nz/au/Sydney/epg.xml

Set it up on Sunday and was all done in a few minutes just following the link.

Vodafone TV has an antenna port for free to air, but I've also configured this on it https://www.matthuisman.nz/2019/01/live-au-iptv-channels-on-…

It puts the streams in the same Live Channels app that free to air via aerial uses and works really well, although not sure what quality the streams generally are, doesn't always seem to be 1080p.

The Foxtel box is bad, I've had so many issues with it and bought a Vodafone TV, so much better and can sideload Foxtel Now. Only thing I miss about the Foxtel Now box is having free to air and Foxtel channels in one app

    • Tenplay, 9Now & (pretty sure) 7Plus apps all have live-streaming of their broadcasts, as well as catch-up options for most of their shows (depending on licencing). Not sure about SBS or ABC apps.
As long as you get a box that can download those apps in some way, you'll be right.

Our signal is flaky so we watch Ch 10 via the app if we wanna see live TV.

Freeview app is OK, but some channels (eg. Channel 9) it makes you watch via that station's app, not via the Freeview one.

  • Can this/Voda TV be a good plex client? Would be nice to be able to browse the collection with a remote

    • +1

Can confirm vids tv runs plex client perfectly. Mi box was slowwww

      • Thanks for your response! can you setup a parental lock so that kids don't run app that they should not be running (eg. youtube when parents not around, etc)

        • +1

No idea sorry. I run a plex server for some friends and the voda tv was the cheapest client I could find and it does the job

  • This thing is a total piece of shit

  • +2

The problem with Foxtel box is the launcher that they have installed instead of Google stock launcher and this slows down the whole functionality of the box and unfortunately you can't install or sideload another launcher

  • Fetch channel subscription is comparatively economical than foxtel. Is there any way to side load fetch on Vodafone Tv?

  • +1

Foxtel has just dropped the price of this box from $99 to $59.

It was last year! And still not worth it compared to Voda.

My father in law wants Foxtel on a second tv without a monthly fee. So, is vodaphone tv + sideload of Foxtel now the way to do this?

If someone could help that'd be great. I'm an amateur with these boxes and research time is non-existant as I have several very young kids + job
