  • Pretty sure this is all time low, picked mine up for $700 used, maybe I should have waited

    • How's your experience with it. I'm looking for a gaming + productivity monitor. Would you recommend?

      • +2

Fantastic, I switched from 1440p 165hz, and while the refresh rate did feel slightly lower I got used to it pretty quick. Can comfortably fit 3 windows side by side + the extra real estate is great for the CAD stuff that I do

        • -8

Can you confirm it's an 100hz only panel? The title seems to be wrong.

          • @Lighter Fluid: 100hz overclockable to 120hz. Mine runs fine.

            • -1

@shiny1: This may be the 60Hz native one

I have the X34P. Mine it 60Hz but overclocks to 100Hz. I know there's a 120Hz version but this may not be it

Awesome monitor though. The only issue I've had with it is the same issues with every Ultrawide monitor (Black bars on Netflix, Stan, Youtube, etc)

              • @GunnerMcDagget: You do not have the x34p then, you have the x34. Unless you can provide a link to show otherwise.

                • @shiny1: If hes running hdmi it could explain why hes limiting out at 60hz.

                  • @sk3iron: Didn't think about that. What a way to shoot yourself in the foot.

        • Do you use a 3rd party app to allow you to snap 3 windows instead of default 2?

        • How's the curved screen for photo editing/CAD etc? The warped lines/curved screen is the only thing holding me back really.

    • +1

The new LG 1ms full gamut IPS models due in July are probably putting some price pressure on these older units.

      • +2

they'll most likely be at least double this price though

        • Unfortunately the emphasis now is on TVs, and monitor tech usually lags behind: very few 10 bit monitors and most are very expensive, no OLED monitors to my knowledge.

On 8 bits by colour RGB monitors I do notice banding artifacts in some games, mostly in the sky. I hope higher bit depths will ameliorate these banding artifacts.

          • +1

@Thaal Sinestro: True, although no OLED on monitors does make a bit more sense when you consider burn in and how you've always got a constant UI on PC

          • @Thaal Sinestro: I looked this monitor's specifications up; it is a fake 10 bit ( 8 bit + 2 bits of dithering). In the past a lot of cheaper TN panels were 6 bits with 2 bits of dithering.

  • Usually shipped 1-2 months?? Might be worth spending an extra 50$ if you want it earlier from a local comp store

    • Harvey Norman will price match to 1049. Use three amex cards, bring it down to 900.

  • +1

Paid 1600 for my x34 few yrs ago ;(

    • I paid about $1350 but no regrets AT ALL. Really love this screen. And that's with mine having issues hitting 100hz. Still don't care. It's a nice screen.

    • I paid around $1800 or so from memory and I was extremely lucky with the panel lottery. Lol so many ppl got (profanity) over didn't they. Still works flawlessly till this day. Sensational monitor I might even upgrade to this one lol xD

I can't actually remember the exact cost though. Who ever is considering this beast just buy the damn thing. It's probably worth $2k in my mind

  • +30

You could buy a stand for that price (almost).

    • Hahaha

    • Waiting for the day that stand goes on a 20% to 50% discount and it showing up on OzBargain, that's going to be a fun day. lol

  • Didn't the RRP drop recently for this?

Could we expect further price drops based on that?

    • +2

Only 100hz and Freesync… The Acer is 120hz and has Gsync

      • thanks

        • G-sync has a VERY high standard compared to Freesync which goes on anything and everything, just a heads up. Much better QC and testing, check Linus’ video out for a more detailed look.

          • @Zazer: G-sync via Freesync is perfectly fine, as long as you're not running at a stupidly low framerate.

      • The new LG 34" and 37.5" will be 175Hz.

  • -1

Damn picked my 100Hz one up 3 years ago for $1550.

    • This is still 100hz. Says on the page. Think the title is wrong.

      • +5

Original X34 was 60 Hz native overclockable to 100 Hz. The X34P is 100 Hz native, overclockable to 120 Hz

  • -4

Op title is wrong. Only 100hz.

    • Overclocks to 120Hz

    • Literally the specs say 120? Overclock…

      https://www.acer.com/ac/en/GB/content/predator-model/UM.CX0E…

      • -3

        Doesn't on the Amazon page.

      • -1

        Literally the specs say 120

The spec literally says 100Hz on the page you linked …

        • -3

On the acer website it says it is 100-120. However, on the amazon page could be an older model or something, but it's pretty clear it is 100hz. Doesnt mention 120hz. Maybe it isnt right? Just something to double check before you buy.

          • +1

@RI4V4N: Are you thick? It's 100hz native, overclockable to 120hz. So the listing would list it as 100hz, because that's what it is. But you can overclock to 120hz if you so wish.

  • I have one of these. Can't recommend them enough.
Only negative is that you need a bigger computer desk

  • It's too bad that you can't do Nvidia surround with monitors that are different size as would love to pair with 2 xb271hu

    • why can’t you?

    • +1

Yep, that has been stopping me purchasing any of these until I see if AMD bring out a competitive top end video card. I am not prepared to go without triple screen with head tracking for race and other sims.

      • +1

It doesn't sound like anything AMD has coming out will match the 2080ti if thats what you're looking for (and what might be needed to drive this sort of screen setup).

        • Radeon vii would be good enough for simulators with 27"+34"ultrawide+34". They should have something later in the year that is comparable to 2080ti. They have released a dual gpu pro card recently and that probably is part of the future since hitting the wall with Moore's Law. No crossfire with radeon vii is a disappointment, but if they the 5700XT supports dual cards that may be an answer. The waiting is getting a bit long tho.

  • was gonna buy one of the $1000+ monitors…. very very happy with my 1440p $450 kogan 34" 100hz

    • +1

      VA panel?

      • probably, but for someone who just wants ultrawide and gaming its great. zero problems

        • +4

why negs guys? let them be happy

          • @Zazer: I much prefer VA to IPS as it is, so the choice for me was easy when picking the z35p over this baby.

            • +1

@Theacidictamtam: hmm. why is that? for the lower response time on VA?

              • +1

@Zazer: For the type of games I play, the better reproduction of blacks and contrast are just something I value over color accuracy.

                • @Theacidictamtam: VA doesn't have great viewing angles which is pretty important for ultrawide

                  • @cille745: I dunno about you, but I sit smack bang in front of my screen at a desk. There is absolutely zero issues with it unless youre planning on using a 35 inch, curved ultrawide as televison.

    • Kogan has its issues but is a good monitor for the price. But if someone like me who is upgrading and wants to be relatively future proof, id go with this one.

  • How does this compare against the alienware AW3418DW?

    • I think they use the same panel. From my limited research and from what I've read, they're about the same. Alienware costs more, so this is better value.

    • Same shiz

    • +1

      This video might help. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8vEGD35Qoh8
Personally I like the look of the Alienware, devastated I missed the FRENZY40 sale.

  • How do you get $944.10? I'm a Prime member and it's showing up as $1175 for me

    • same for me nearly bit the bullet

    • +2

add to cart and you will see

    • Make sure you're viewing one that's sold my Amazon, not by a random third party seller. You may need to click "6 new from $1,049.00" to switch.

      • add to cart is 1049 how to get $944?

        • +1

Try checking out. My discount was applied at checkout.

    • FYI I was doing it on my phone launching it from the daily email and even though I was logged into Amazon, the price did NOT come down.

When I opened the product from the browser window (in a new tab), emptied my cart of the "high-priced" ones, navigated back to the tab and added it again, the price came off at checkout.

Only reason I didn't commit was the 1-2 month time to dispatch.

  • I paid $976
Price match at HN with MWave's daily deal $1029 + used Amex (-$50)

    • Good find. I have three amex cards. Can use two with this and get 100 off to make it 929.

      • Yes you can, I had done couple of times
just remember, Mwave deal is finishing today…

        • +3

Yaaay..just got it. Price matched to 1029. 99$ for product care. Redeemed a Westfield gift card of 400 and HN gift card of 40. Shipping 25. Used two amex cards for 713. Will get 100 dollars back!! Super duper day for me!!

  • Cheaper on ebay using gift card deal. About 890.

  • Does this have KVM support?

As I would be able to plug my MacBook it and use the same keyboard and mouse as my desktop PC…

  • +2

Today, I got this one at Harvey Norman.
They matched the price with a delivery fee. 7.99
    952.02

    • Did they price match the Amazon deal? They told me that they don't match membership deals. Missed it! Well.. good on you

      • I messaged them using their webchat.

        Was told no

    • +12% cashback on Amazon though but with long wait.

  • Bloody cheap, I paid $1100 a few months ago!

  • I can't decide between this or a 27" XB271HU for $200 less….

    Mix between coding/non-gaming… and gaming.

It's hard but I think I'm going with the smaller screen.

    • Don't, I recently switched from the PG279Q to this and it's much better, you'll forget the refresh rate difference in a day

  • The ozbargainer in me wants to wait for it to be cheaper

  • what graphics card would be good to use with this monitor?

    • +2

It's a bit dated but this vid by Gamers Nexus may help:

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-xmiUFLtYq4

You can swap out GTX 980 Ti in the charts for GTX 1070, and in turn again for GTX 1160 Ti, to give you a more relevant idea.

For Radeon side of things, you can swap out the R9 390X for the RX 580 8GB.

  • +1

Picked one up as soon as I saw it.

    • 12% cashback and claiming this on tax. Beautiful.
    • where did u get 12% cash back?

      • Shopback :)

        • +4

Are you sure? Only clothing, shoes, watches and jewellery have 12%. Electronics are 4.5%.

  • The more than month long wait works for me as I want to claim the tax deduction in the next financial year. Amazon usually charge when they deliver. My use case is for day trading, so will check out DisplayFusion to split the screen. I also have a 27" WQHD monitor I may try to put on top, hopefully can find a monitor arm that will go high enough.

  • Check ebay computer alliance with ebay plus its $917 delivered

  • Any good VESA mounts for this?
