Unreal, considering they constantly skipping city loop and they still not making the target

If they didn't pick up any passengers they could make their schedule ;-)
It amazes me how late night trains don't even leave Flinders St on time! Makes journey planner useless when trying to meet up with other transport/evaluating options. Their signalling system is a joke and their communication of issues to their own staff, let alone passengers, is woeful. Can't even understand communication over their train speaker system or identity carriages with problems as they don't have identifiers internally (unlike Yarra trams). Hardly a 21st century public transport system.

their late night train behaviour is so incredibly aggravating. I don't even catch trains past 9pm that often, but when I have, the % of times it's an extra 20min+ on a 45min journey is crazy. regular cancellations (yay now I have to wait 20mins for the next one), random delays at the platform as you said, and then slow moving the whole way down the line.

I saw their claim form loaded up last week with the June dates, even though it was not announced yet and was waiting for this. Nice, as I was not affected at all.

  • Thanks op, didn't know this was a thing, hope my mobile myki won't be a problem :)

    • Mobile myki say nope :(

      • same to my google pay miki.

Metro trains hasn't met a (profanity) punctuality target since the targets were introduced. Oh but don't worry, the government has done such an amazing job privatising the entire public sector at no benefit to the public and almost 100% detriment.

    • +4

The worst thing was that they lobbied to reduce the targets and friggin won.

Why is 90% on time even considered good?!

Do you show up to work friggin 90% on time without trouble??

Go anywhere in Europe and realise how woeful our trains are.

      • And then go to japan and apologise to the metro trains themselves for how poorly they are managed.

    • Less strikes. At least they run most of the time. Perhaps buses to the Arts Centre cough but technically, it's still running.

    • Ah yes, Jeff Kennett and the Libs. Sold everything in Victoria.

Good post, but I find it pretty dumb that people on Myki money can't access this offer. Surely Myki can track my movements in June…

Tax payers lose too as a result of this Metro "penalty" due to public transport revenue being lost…

    • Metro pays compensation to the state government for mixing their targets..

  • What happens if you have a yearly? Do they credit you an extra day?

    • +1

Yep - It'll automatically become active once your current yearly expires

      • Just checked my account balance and I have $8.80 credit which must have been applied from the last one. Cheers

    • It's applied as a day's worth of Myki Money.

      • +2

Which is great, because by the time your yearly expires there's a fair chance that $ amount won't cover the new daily ticket price…

I applied for the April one, never get a reply.

    • +1

me too, never got compensation after applying bugger all

  • Where to check the targets and if they failed them?

EDIT: Found it. Pic on https://metrotrains.com.au/

  • Damn I only switched from myki money to myki pass in June, thought I was still ok but got declined, counted up only 9 days! Should’ve touched on some weekend :(

Seems like Vic gets all the goodies always compensation.

Sydney never ever. Even with the new metro faults they don't give Jack.

    • We had it rougher with more delays and cancellatioans. I'd prefer fewer than having this compensation that never actually came

UPDATE: Nevermind, I actually got an email as soon as I submit the claim and got credited 1 daily pass. Problem is, I'm going away so I can't use it anyway, dang

    • +1

If Sydney ever gave compensation I'd never have to pay for travel =D

      • +1

        Damn right

  • Thanks OP! Love the freebie :)

Didn't it used to be possible to put the credit against the card? Now it says "(only available to student half-yearly and yearly passes and annual pass holders)". Where the bloody hell does it go then?

  • is this just for myki pass? if I use daily about 12 times in June, Would I still be eligible? :(

  • I'm filling out that form and it keeps telling me I'm not eligible, I'm pretty sure Ive got everything good?

EDIT: Turns out I didn't have a pass active in June. All good!

  • Don't get me started on buses… I understand they get stuck in traffic, but at least a few times per month, they just don't even show up and you have to wait half an hour for next one. Where do they go? And there's no communication or explanation.

  • Quite pathetic when you look at how Japan's spaghetti monster of a subway operates https://www.tokyometro.jp/en/subwaymap/img/img_01.png but Metro cant even manage our network that essentially has trains go up and down one line https://metrotunnel.vic.gov.au/__data/assets/image/0003/3097…

  • +1

WHich is why i switched to bike commuting. Forget the trains and trams….

  • I tried my 365 my pass. it keeps telling me I'm not eligible. looks like if yiu have used it for Vline then they are not accepting it.

  • claim up to the end of the month in which the results are published
    - whats the answer for this ?

  • +1

    The whole thing is confusing.
Rejected me first go for putting spaces in myki number (as is written on card).
Then didnt tell me, says 1 of 4 criteria not met. Guess which.

I want to know why the hell we even need to submit this, and why i hear about it on ozbargain.
    THey should automatically apply.
