UPDATE: Promotion for '$7.49 off in cart for order being more than $149' which reduces the price to AU $222.60 - Credit to chadiwrx

I recently got the Amazfit GTR and have been really impressed with build quality, design and battery life. It’s quite an upgrade from my last two fitness trackers, TomTom Multi-Sport Cardio & Samsung GearFit2.

There are two versions, 42mm & 47mm. I went with the smaller version but if you don’t mind wearing a slightly larger watch then the 47mm is definitely the one to get.

  • Display: 47mm 1.39” (454x454) 326ppi vs 42mm 1.2” (390x390) 326ppi.

  • Battery: 47mm 410mAh (24 days) vs 42mm 195mAh (12 Days)

  • 47mm recently received an update allowing it to feature an Always On Display.

  • Both have AMOLED screens with Gorilla Glass, share the same functions and are water resistant up to 50 metres.

Should also mention some drawbacks.

  • It has a proprietary operating system so doesn't allow installation of third party apps

  • Can’t answer or make phone calls

  • No speaker or microphone.

* 42mm not supporting Always on Display (Not sure if it will get the same update the 47mm got recently)

Update: 2 42mm received an update which allows Always on Display

Hesitant to order from Gearbest. I looked at their reviews and everything from the last few months was 1 star :/
    Watch looks god though

I've ordered from them a few times, mostly small things which arrived after about a month. I did order a tablet once and they didn't ever ship it after a month of promises and delays so I eventually got my money back. Getting a refund was also a hassle. I'd personally avoid them in future, but I guess everyone probably has different experiences with them.

    • Bought mine from there and had no issues.

The battery life is what swayed me towards this. Had some Samsung watches and hated charging the watch each night. On my 4th week and just hit 9% today. I don't use it for GPS or anything though but anything over 1 week battery life is awesome.

My only issue is i cant get it to display SMS notifications. Get call notifications and other push notifications but it doesn't send me SMS notifications.

      • Have you switched on 'Incoming SMS' under Watch Alerts in the Amazfit App?

        • I don't have 'Incoming SMS'. In the Amazfit GTR settings you have app alerts. In there you can choose which apps you get alerts from and fromt he list of apps there is nothing to do with SMS or Messaging, Only 'Phone'.

@worthy1: Go to Profile, click on Amazfit GTR under 'My Devices'.

Then below 'App alerts' & 'Idle alert' click on 'More' which will show all 'Watch alerts'.

You should then see 'Incoming SMS'

            • @adr8: Legend!!

I swear I have been through the settings over and over on the phone and watch and couldn't find out what it was, Cant believe I missed the little small button. It was set to off, lifesaver!

  • How's the GPS performance? Seen a few threads on XDA about these having serious issues achieving lock from cold start.

    • I also read those threads which had me worried a bit. I haven't noticed any problem receiving a GPS signal since getting it last Wednesday. Tracked 4 separate hourly activities and it took about 30s to find a signal.

It did receive a bunch of updates when I first powered it on, so not sure if the issue was addressed with the latest update. So far, mine has been quick to get a signal and accurate when compared with my TomTom.

        $139.99
        Promotion -$5.00

The 42mm price has been sitting at around US$129 for the past month on Gearbest. Was waiting to see what the GTS looked like before pulling the trigger.

  • can you make mobile payments with these?

just noticed the GTS came out too!

Unfortunately, you can't make mobile payments with the GTR.
