    • 65-45=20. 12 months X 20=240. Don't think people will pay 390 to downgrade. Might as well just stay at 65. Am I missing something from Telstra logic? Or are we talking about MTM+downgrade to 45?

      • +1

nah $45 12 month plan. Though I did try going down to $50 MTM and that went through. so everything worked out in the end. Happy wife Happy life. License to spend more on deals from OZB =D

  • +1

Just switched to month-to-month plan via live chat and the agent said that there will be no ETC.

    • +2

I think the key here is to keep trying until someone does it for you..don't escalate it otherwise you'll most definitely run into someone who's clued up to what's happening.

  • I splurged… I'm not sure why though

I went into JB during lunch and got my Vodafone number ported, within 30 mins I walked out with the s10e.

Still trying to get online Telstra to let me in with the MTM plan, but so far been through 2 reps (1st one let me have $10 off, so $55 per month now), 2nd rep offered to send me to the Prepaid chat, took the bite. Hopefully all goes well (still chatting now).

    • $10 off every month (12 months?) Wow I got 6 months only

  • It is weird for me . Port in Telstra already, can make phone call. But JB didn’t let me pick up the phone said still provision…. :(
    WTH.

  • Just wondering but there seems to be 2 types of scenarios to sign up when walking into JB:
    1. the salesperson signs you up totally using their system on the computer and doesn't speak to Telstra at all
    2. The salesperson rings Telstra and signs you up via speaking to them on the phone, and the phone gets handed to you & you need to verbally agree to ToC, etc etc.

So which option did you guys get, 1 or 2,and did your number port over immediately or are you stuck in the waiting void like me? For the record, mine was option 1,totally done via computer.

Maybe it makes no difference but maybe it does, idk.

And maybe also relevant is if you were on pre-paid or post-paid before porting? Again for the record I was Optus post-paid.

    • with the current new Telstra port in the system. Option 2 is the best as they will send out the code quickly from their side.

    • I singed everything in the computer. Option 1. My number port in after I click the message. They said need Telstra to verify.

      • So did you get the elusive SMS from Telstra asking if you confirm for porting your number?

        • Everything is working is for Telstra port in. I am able call and use data. But JB didn’t give me the phone keep saying it is provision. OMG I have been to their store two times already.

    • I had option 2 and port in process took 30 mins

    • Signed up for the S10e yesterday, got option 1. Sign up took about 20 minutes (incl. waiting for the text), guy told me it could take a while to port so walk around and wait til my phone says SOS only. Walked about 30m out of the store and my number had already been ported. Was also able to talk to live chat and downgrade to the $45/mo plan.

    • Thanks for replies, guys. Looks like option 1 or 2 makes no difference at all.

  • Got my port-in SMS from Telstra this morning, around 18 hours after requesting the port (it prob came sooner but I didn't have the Optus Sims in my phone to check).

How long did people wait after they got the SMS for the service to be active?

  • +1

I went in to JB and signed up to the deal. Didn't receive the sms after an hour and the guy in the store was nice enough to let me pay and leave with the phone and told me to insert my new sim after i get the sms that the port is complete. He told me it would be within 24 hours.

Just coming up to 22 hours.. do you think its possible i could call Telstra to just have the requested port cancelled now and just keep the phone?

    • Hell yes mate. Remember as far as Telstra is concerned, it's a BYO plan. You should still be in cooling off period so ring them and cancel and enjoy your $99 S10E! nobody else as far as I know has been able to leave with phone if port didn't go through.

    • damn that jb staff could get sacked haha… no other people can bring the phone home without the service active.

  • Are the S10e handsets from JB dual SIM?

    • +1

      No, just single sim.

      • Thanks.
I Was hoping I could replace my v30+ with one of these, but it's starting to look like I'll stick with the LG for a little longer.

  • When does this deal end? I need too port out and port back in

    • Ends 30th October.

      • +1

It's actually 6th November. I've just asked 2 jb stores. S10e sold out in sydney unfortunately however one of the store I've been to mentioned that they have ordered more stock to be delivered next week.

        • +1

          Thanks for the update.

I'll keep the expiry of the deal as 30th October for now (date shown on the site and catalogue).

          Will extended after.

          • +1

@RichardL: I know it's confusing but it is actually on the catalogue. On front page it shows the smashing prices promotion ends on 30th october but at the back (last page) it shows "mobile madness ends 6/11!"

Edit: it's confusing i have just checked the website it is showing ends 30th october but on the printed catalogue i picked up just now is showing 6th November as per shown here https://catalogue.jbhifi.com.au/2019/10/24-oct-mobile/24/ind…

            • +1

@issachar: Edit 2: just went back to jb world square and the guy showed me the staff intranet in the "offers guide" page. Promotions extended until 6/11 apparently but better get it asap if you can just in case.

              • @issachar: Confirmed with staff at Jb home in Joondalup 6/11 is when the offer ends

    • 6th November. Just been told by JB staff. And once you in before this date you in, porting delay had no impact to this offer expiry date.

    • So who is everyone porting out to? I need to get this sorted asap so i can port back in and sign onto this deal.

  • Anybody who used passport for the point check being asked to show visa sticker?

    • +1

If it is an international passport I imagine they would want to know that you're not going to leave the country any time soon (and avoid paying the plan), since it is a postpaid contract.

  • No stock in Perth..just tried
Shouldn't have waited! No ETA on stock either..
Didn't know this was so popular over the pixel 4

    • +1

You can try ringing Belmont forum. Black colour no stock anyway.

  • Hmm. I'm one of the ones stuck without an SMS still, placed order 10am on Thursday.

Now that I think of it, I'm not 100% sure they put the phone aside for me.. I think she wrote the IMEI down (did the paper form since the computer was busy or something), I swear if it finally ports over and I go to collect it, and it's missing, I'm going to be a very unhappy camper! I suppose I'll double check tomorrow morning since I work near the store..

    • I'm stuck too but I saw my phone has been put aside by the staff, has my name wrapped with the invoice. And they gave me Telstra Sim already. Just not the phone.

      • Black? I was told apparently there is no black color in stock anywhere!

        • +1

Last Thursday, there were stocks in black

    • +1

If they have sold your phone I reckon your chances of getting an upgrade to an S10 would be pretty high.

      • Good point, I'd definitely be pushing for it. Or a pixel 4XL or something of that calibre

      • Just went past the JB, checked and they have it aside etc. I will be asking for the case they were going to throw in at a discount to be either way cheaper or free.. Since I ordered one on Amazon and it's already arrived, I don't really need it anymore (but for the right price, why not?).

They said they were batching together customer orders in the same situation and escalating with Telstra in bulk.. I doubt it will do anything until the system is back online anyways. No ETA given.

    • I went for port in on thu 11am. Still no sms lol

  • Hi, does S10e support dual SIM? Thanks!

    • -2
      • says the person named after a PC parts brand.
    • +2

      It is single SIM only

  • Got mine today in a same day port.

Jumped on online chat but 2 out of the 4 reps I spoke to were already qouting how all staff told not to waive ETC fee for JB contracts to Telstra month-to-month.

Appraently they had a large influx of such requests lol!

Anyway best I got was $10/month credit so its $55 a month. However this dosnt change your ETC ,still calculated on full price so $390.

But this is my 2nd port in to telstra after that amazing jB Mothers day offer of free P30. With that plan coming to 6 months it will only cost me $220 to cancel. So cheaper to cancel that and keep this sim going for 12 months.

Thanks JB , you've done it again!

    • +6

its because so many idiots are quoting that this is a jbhifi deal in the online chat and that they got a handset with it smh some ozbargainers are so stupid, who ever scored, this is the deal of the year in my book, i got a s10e. and cancelled same day too. $99 with free airbuds. didnt mention or speak of jbhifi or handset, just told them it was a byo that i signed up for and now i wana cancel it, thats all you got to say dont tell them your whole story or the jig is up for other people who are still waiting on the sms lol you are screwing it for your fellow ozbargainers who still have not got their sms which includes the guy who even posted this deal..

  • lol its almost out of stock in sydney

  • Just wondering if JB let you swap (still sealed) S10e for another color when they get stock back in?

    • Actually looks like it will be a keeper.

      • Did you get the white one?

        • +1

          It was the green one.

  • Has anyone been able to get live chat to drop their plan to the $50 MTM one today? I've been trying for the past couple of days and although the reps keep telling me its done and i wont pay any fees, the request keeps getting cancelled everytime i follow up.

If anyone has been successful today and its reflecting on your app I'd appreciate knowing which option u guys picked on the live chat option and what you said to them.

FYI i didnt mention anything about JB HiFi or the S10e to them but still not getting any luck

    • if your telstra sim card stops having reception thats a sign that its been cancelled, like mine did after about 1 hr

    • I got off live chat about 30 mins ago. The rep helped me to drop my plan to $50 MTM but it hasn't been reflected in my account. Rep said it will take 24 hours so I guess we will see tomorrow.

      • I'd be wary of that as the 2 times that happened with me they never submitted the plan through. One was cancelled the other stuck on pending.

Both times i successfully got them to put me on the MTM i got my critical summary document and plan change reflected in the app straight away.

First plan got changed instantly few days back, second one i had to chase it up a few times over the last 2 days till someone sorted it

  • +1

Looks like your plan for 04xxxxxxxx has expired
    Plan early termination charge $0.00
    Device buy out $0.00
Did this a minute ago in my first go.
    Cheers
    Happy Hunting

    • Can you tell how?

      • Is this an email or on phone message? Or their web page?

        • Telstra Web Page
          Contract Details

      • Very polite and some friendly chit chat made it work.

    • you must have got lucky - Telstra seem to have caught on and ask "are you on JB Hifi 12 month contract?" like they know I was coming

haha they said they've been getting a lot of enquiries about people changing the jb hifi plans and are aware they may have gotten a sign on bonus

  • For people signing up in Thursday now is approaching 48 working hours. Most likely will go over. Once active maybe we can use this delay to get the plan changed to M2M or lower.

    • I've been told to ring Telstra after 6pm tonight because they should have a fix for the porting issue by then. I don’t have my hopes up but just letting y'all know.

  • Was anyone that has moved to a new contact, received their bill yet?

    • I have for the first number i ported across on Thursday but not for the 2nd one i did in Saturday

      • What does it say did you cancel or $65 charged?
You are trying to get the deal the second time awesome hahaha.

        • The bill i got doesnt have any ETC outlined, just $50 for the monthly plan cost. I have not cancelled them yet, will probably do in a day or two. I assume they will just charge the $50 pro rata.

Lol yeah i actually went in on the first day to sign up with 2 numbers but the 2nd was held up in the porting process for a couple days so i just cancelled that one and got a new $2 sim and signed up again.

Edit: just to clarify i managed to get both plans changed to the $50 MTM so the bill reflects that plan

          • +1

@hsingh1186: you are wrong, you get charged $1.67 per a day. lol

            • @striker5950: Yeah that's what i meant, they'll just charge me pro rata for the days i had the service active haha

          • @hsingh1186: Hey hsingh1186, can you sign up with 2 numbers that are under your name? At the same time and same store?
            Thanks

            • @PlaneProof: Yeah mate thats what I did. The only issue I had was the 2nd number was stuck in port provisioning for 2 days until i just ended up cancelling it and buying a new $2 sim and getting JB to re sign me with that one.

I think you can do more than 2 also, not sure where they set the limit.

              • @hsingh1186: not so sure bout that, they know the deal by now, i asked the guy are many people getting these he said pfffft bro yeh everyone is coming for these, than he told me some guy came in to do it again and we had to reject him.

                • @striker5950: Yeah i assume they'd be pretty clued up with what people are doing with the deal. Depends on the rep too i found. Mine didn't care at all so it was nice and easy for me to do 2 numbers

  • Just received email with subject "my name, important information about your new plan" but already over 50 hours number not active yet

    • I think they just sent that out to everyone who signed up. I got that email too at the same time and I've already been ported.

    • Yeh I got it too, even though they declined my credit check (which idk why).

  • +1

Received the code and link just now. Let's see how long it takes for the number to port.

    • +1

Also received code and link. After signing up on Thursday

      • +1

        same same here too

        • Same here. Signed up Thursday arvo and got the code 2 hours ago. All ported now. Will have to swing by JB tomorrow to pick my phone up.

  • For those that were told that they didn't have any stock left, try calling them up or go back in. I was told they were now allowed to sell their Telstra stock of s10e's and so should have a few more units available for this deal.

    • They were always allowed to sell s10e's, that's the deal, do you mean s10 or are you trying to say they have gotten more in stock now?
      Thanks

      • Apparently they have two types of stock, a telstra stock and upfront stock if I remember correctly. Went to sign up on the weekend but was told they couldn't sell the last one because it was telstra stock (don't remember which one, but basically they weren't able to sell one type).

Called again today and was told they have stock to sell (stock that they previously weren't able to sell with this deal apparently).

        • Yep, Telstra stock is for 24 months plan which I confirmed at city jb. Have to wait new batch to come

        • Correct, they have two different S10e stocks. The normal one that this deal is for is out of stock in Perth, the JB rep tried using the other (4Gx model) but the Telstra rep on phone declined. Apparently different SKUs. Will try again.

          • @alterego13: I have been given 4gx model today. Does it mean the one that I've got is branded?

            • @issachar: Apparently I also got the 4GX model today. JB got an email from Telstra with a green light to sell these on the $99 deal. The Telstra rep on the phone initially rejected the port, but the JB manager stepped in and processed the port. They are identical phones just a different supply chain. One is from Samsung and the other is from Telstra. At least that's what I was told.
Couldn't get my hands on the phone today waiting for the port to go through and the store was closing. Port went through fine after half an hour so I'll get the phone tomorrow and pay the $99 with gift cards.

        • So Telstra stock will have Telstra logo, branding, bloatware, etc?

          • +1

@leiiv: I was told by a JB rep they are exactly the same (No branding). It's just for their own bizarre purposes of inventory management.

  • Got my SMS, all ported over! Will pick up phone tomorrow morning. Finally :)

    • if you can, please check: login to your telstra web account, go to https://ordertracker.telstra.com.au/
enter your order number (you get it from one of the setup email)
mine says still in progress. if jbhifi staff see this on their system maybe they wont let you go home with the phone.

      • Same situation as moneymoo, mine says completed.

I think if your Telstra sim is active and it finishes porting over (mine took 5 mins after the text), you're good to go. It's not the order tracker that generates the confirmation / gift card for JB to use I don't think.

        • finger cross. yes my telstra sim is active now.
hope jbhifi system says completed tomorrow on mine.

        • When I signed up I got the SMS within 10 minutes and ported pretty much instantly but was told JB Hifi receives a separate provisioning confirmation from Telstra that may not come at the same time. (I had to come back at a later day). Might be worth calling up first?
