  I was going to cash in the points for a trip to nz but the taxes are a killer $173+. its probably best to buy a cheap jetstar flight and cash in the FF points for gift cards don't you think so?

    They're generally best spent on upgrades, gift cards are poor value.

  But of course. Used some of our FF points to book flights for my family two days ago… Why does this kind of thing always happen to me.

  EDIT: For the same flights we booked if were to book them now we would have saved 48.8% of the FF used. I'm considering canceling the original booking and placing a new one with the promotion as that we will save 28.8% after you take into account the forfeit of some points due to cancellation. What do you guys think?

    You'll lose 1000 points per booking if you cancel the flights you booked with points.
    I'd book the new ones with the cheaper points then cancel the other flights.

  Any that I have canceled Q refund the entire points allocation then deduct 1000 points. I'll check though

  No international point discounts from Perth. Another reason for me to hate QANTAS even more.
  (Curses QANTAS for the 1356th time for getting rid of the direct flight from Perth - Japan)
