Vornado 660 Air Circulator Floor Fan $158.40 + Delivery (Free C&C) @ The Good Guys eBay

132
P20GG

Looks like there's a lot of conjecture to whether it's a good fan or not. However, it moves a significant volume of air and excellent on lower settings for those who are sensitive to sound.

The price history suggests it's cheapest was $158.40 from TGG and $149.99 pick up from Costco although admittedly I didn't do a deep dive into it. It's getting warm across Australia and for those who can afford to spend a lil more, in my opinion, it is like a lightweight effective product for the price.

Nothing wrong with giving it some positive spin.

      • I'm not a fan.

I got one from Costco and it's… Okay; pretty good if you have the money to spend on a fan but it's not some super fan for a bargain price… It's like a high end normal fan. Way cheaper than a Dyson scam. I think it makes more sense than a box pedestal or tower fan

I totally appreciate the fact that it doesn't turn like a tower or pedestal fan, which is annoying to get in the right direction. It doesn't have a spinning face plate like a box fan which is also annoying to get in the right direction. You just pick it up and move it and point it in the direction you want - which is actually possible since it has a solid circular base which makes sense as opposed to all fans ever which stand on their plastic tippy toes waiting to get knocked over - and it adjusts on the vertical axis so you can point it at the ceiling or your face while leaving it on the floor not having to adjust height or prop it up or put it on a table.

The thing that people say - that it swirls the whole room into a breezy tornado vortex, is slightly true. It's not like you can feel the force of the fan across the whole room, it is just a light draught.

Again, it's a good fan, I think it's more functional than conventional fans and does move more air.

So in conclusion I recommend it…. if you can use it a lot. It should last a long time and will be way better than having a crap one - if you are actually using it you will get your money's worth eventually

I bought two of them 2 years ago in Costco. Unfortunately I found them totally unusable - to make air moving I had to put them on the top speed, the noise was unbearable. Using in nights was impossible too. Eventually I return them back and bought Kogan pedestal DC fans. They are virtually silent in their silent mode, have remotes and cost me twice as less (were on special).

Have bought this last year when Costco had them.. now it’s back to hot days, this is operating low speed 24/7 placing in the very corner of my living room and facing 80degrees upwards..I live in an apartment, so all my windows or doors are shut. When I came back home atleast the air it’s not dead. It won’t change the temperature for sure, but it does a good circulation. I would recommend it.

Agree with others above, whole room air circulation is a bit of a stretch.

    • Way too noisy.
    • Overpriced for what it is.
    • No remote control
    • Uses more electric than a DC fan.

Get yourself a decent DC motor fan, has far more power and barely makes a noise at all.

    Would not recommend.

Well the Good Guys do have the DC version of this however it is slightly more expensive than the above advertised -

Vornado Energy Smart 633DC Air Circulator Fan - $175.20*

*additional +$12.82 for postage if not available for in-store pickup.

      • Thanks mate just ordered one!

Totally agree with you. It's like the fan in the bathroom it's super noisy if you use that in bedroom.

    • I'm with you on this, these fans are absolute rubbish as a fan, simple as that. All your complaints ragarding noise, remote, etc all stand true but they are just rubbish fans also. The circulation doesn't work so you'll need to prop it up on a bench or chair also.

How does it compare to Kogan DC Motor Circulator Small Fan (only $69 + delivery)?

    • Can’t help with comparison, but I have the Kogan small dc fan and I’m pretty happy with it. I use it for indoor cycling mostly which isn’t everyone’s use case. But certainly nice and quiet, and wayyy cheaper.

  • I've got one of this years ago from Harvey before I have air cond. and for me it really helps.
Later after having a split system I use it to move the cold air to other end of the house.
As many have said here it gets quite loud , even more so after it age.
I've also got the 533 which I prefer as it is quieter.

I like the low profile of these fans which is out of sight unlike the pedestal fan. Not good if you have toddlers.
The concept is cool air stays near the floor so these fans pushes the cool air up.

Now that I've more sense than money I've opted for the Heller Circulatory Fan from Kogan for a fraction of the price.

It sits nicely under my desk in the study during summer. Works a treat and much quieter than the Vornado.

I still loves the Vornado but just won't spend that kind of money again when there's a $25 option out there.
