    It's possible. If the cost of keeping the items in your warehouse is greater than the loss you make on selling it then it would make sense to sell at a loss. It all depends on how hard it is to move these items at profit, what you can do with the space they are taking up and wether or not they are about to become obsolete and what price you'd be selling them at then. There are probably other things that help complicate the issue.

    It's also possible that they are lying through their teeth. :)

    From business point of view, i believe not every products are sold at profit for every business and every company. With the discombobulated panda explaining part of the reason of selling products at loss. Also this is weekend special, not daily special.
