And thats why he got negged.

Fair enough, I've had good success with price matching, perhaps because there are few quite a few competitors around (HN / JB / Clive Peters / Clive Anthonys & WOW).
Perhaps the local HN near your cardboard box under a bridge in VIC (from ur profile :P) doesn't have much competition?

I think Harvey is happy with the income from all the silly H-N franchisers out there.
He doesn't have to worry about how they do business (which is why they do as they please - from all reports; we've all seen nearly unconscionable tactics, on the part of franchisers' sales people, right?)
It's like MacDonald's corporate entity: They are LANDLORDS, & no longer need to make sandwiches. (I guess they also win by charging franchise & maybe training fees; go read their Annual Report…)
Smart business leaders tend to STOP doing what they did, on their way to SUCCESS & RICHES.

The Acer 15.6" Notebook with an Intel core i5 processor, 750gb HDD, 4GB Ram AND 8 hours battery, $479, sounds like it might be reasonable value. Model number would be nice.

Acer might be this (GPU or not?):

MrDerrickC on 10/08/2011 - 16:43 ¶Having looked at the Acer 23" and the Fuji camera they do seem to be cheaper then what other places have to offer.
+1 voteblackrider89 on 10/08/2011 - 17:37 ¶More details about the Acer one should have been available. Still very misleading.
blackrider89 on 10/08/2011 - 18:29 ¶If without the letter B it would be an awesome deal. But if with, I cannot find one within Australia???
+1 voteMNBB = 1GB 520M —> http://www.acer.com.au/ac/en/AU/content/model/LX.RHQ02.017
however the equally RRP priced MLBB = 1GB 540M —> http://www.acer.com.au/ac/en/AU/content/model/LX.RHJ02.010

+2 votesIts a neg from me for the Spam-ish title.
REP may like to avail him/herself of the following;

+1 voteI understand the feeling and don't like HNs tactics myself either but it will be very interesting if the REP can post the model No for the Acer notebook, as I bought one with exact specs from the GG for $790 only last week, so for $578 or $479 after cashback it would be a steal if the same model.
+1 voteI have to negged this deal because there is no model number and stock level for that price.
It is very suspectible to bait and switch tactic and (like aldeady mentioned above) they can easily said it is sold out and offered another product which might carry higher markup price and not as good deal as original deal.I live close to that Hardly Normal and there usually is NO GOOD DEAL coming out of them.

This afternoon I picked up the Acer i5 laptop described by OP for $479 after cash back, $429 after the Amex promo. Model was AS5830TG 2414G75MNBB.
I had actually called on Thursday to reserve one but it turned out they still had stock. Also called HN Auburn to see if they would price match but no go.
Convinced another guy in the store to buy one and told him about OzBargain :)
