[macOS] 11 Mac Apps (Inc. Pathfinder) $64 USD / $91 AUD or 50% off Individual Software (Pathfinder 9 $29.50 AUD) @ Unclutter

70

I've been looking for a deal on Pathfinder for Mac and this offer popped into my mailbox.

The following apps are in the bundle:

Aeon Timeline 2
Better Zip 4
Default Folder X
HyperFocus
Mosaic Pro
Path Finder 9
Permute 3
Sip
TaskPaper 3
Tumult Hype 4
Unclutter

I only have used Pathfinder and find it to be an excellent replacement for Finder.

  • Have you tried out any other Finder replacements?

I also use and like PathFinder but I must say I dislike (and find somewhat disingenuous and scammy baiting) how their current licencing system works - so I too would be interested in other alternate Finder's

They call it a "lifetime licence" - but what that means is you can only use the version of the app at the time you buy it forever (assuming it will work on future OS's - which appears quite often not the case)
What happens if an upgrade comes out after then is that their system allows you to use the new version for up to 12 months after your last purchase but then forces you to either pay for the new version or downgrade back to the version you had when you purchased last (e.g. if you bought V9 today and V10 came out in 6 months then your client could upgrade to V10 and it would work for the next 6 months after that, and then stop working (unless you paid for V10 or downgraded to V9 (which you probably couldn't do if you had upgraded to the next MacOS in the interim))

…what that means is you can only use the version of the app at the time you buy it forever

You're expecting to pay once and receive free upgrades indefinitely?

      • It’s a strange requirement indeed.

Not necessarily forever but longer than one year yes - note another Mac software package I own and use does exactly that (free upgrades forever) - ChronoSync and I'm sure I have others

Note it's not just the limited time you get software updates for - it's their tricky almost misleading practice with licencing that I'm peeved at - i.e. the way they bandy about "lifetime licence" everywhere, and they way they upgrade you (temporarily) to the new version (making you think you don't need to pay for it - until you are later forced to) - and only in hard to find small print do they tell what "lifetime" actually means

  • Any Parallels 15 discounts/bundles around at the moment? Also, a Windows 10 licence.
