  • lol, who wants a digital photo frame anymore. Certainly not one for 129. what a joke. not even cheap

    • To be fair, this has an in-built printer. Kind of nifty, even if a little gimmicky.

      • Was the Polaroid 600 a gimmick?

        • +1

Depends on who you ask and under what context. Given the state of play of technology in this day and age, it might very well be considered a gimmick to some.

Being a customer service rep, I'm sure you would understand that being unnecessarily defensive isn't going to win you any customers. To think I was actually trying to defend the product. Perhaps I shouldn't have bothered ;)

Sorry the comment was intended as tongue in cheek but it got so edited it might of come across the wrong way.

What I was going to write originally was a drawn history of the photo industry. The short versio is when this printer was manufactured in Japan by Olympus in 2000 it sold for $800 and the print media sold for $5 a print. Then Polaroid stole the idea and used a similar system for their passport photos a year later. Nowadays you get a digital frame with printer plus in-built stereo speakers and media player for an eight of the price.

In a nutshell I realise this is probably the wrong place for this sort of deal but quite honestly the cheapest price going anywhere is over $350 we gave OzB members first dibs and have offered up a great little package including plenty of print media. For what is a great little media frame with 144 photos included.

i don't think an original price tag from 2000 is going to persuade anyone in 2011

        • @junglejumble

Thanks for expanding on your original post. Understanding your underlying point, I can appreciate your perspective and I hope I didn't cause any offence with my initial reply.

  • What about replacement cartridges for the printer?

    • +1

Each printer cartridge set contains 36 prints. In the deal we have included 3 bonus cartridges + the one included with the printer as standard, so a total of 144 instant prints. This Digital frame is normally retailed at $389 without any extra cartridges.

      Individual cartridges are available ongoing.

Sorry to say but: 1. I already can view my pictures via my portable DVD player via usb and memory cards. 2. To print my pictures I have a separate inkjet printer.

Can Optus mytab, which was selling earlier for $99 do the same? Above that it had so many other apps to support.

And for whoever who negged. I don't see the point in spending 129 bucks for a product, when I have products at home that can already perform those tasks already.

      • +1

"And for whoever who negged" Did you not realise we can see it is you who have negged the deal? Bit rough to neg a deal just because you don't need it. There are 1000's of members here on OzB - you are but one of them. While I accept and respect the fact that you don't need this product, that's no reason to neg a deal. Have you read the voting guide lines?

It is highly unlikely that such a product will be popular in any time soon. At the moment, there are many alternatives to your tacky photo frame and printer, most are cheaper to run and are much cheaper to buy than your 129 dollar item. Such as inkjet multifunctions, which can print directly from your camera, memmory cards, usbs. And also, you cannot print A4 sized pictures with your item, inkjets can.

  • Thanks for the great offer. Several very positive reviews of this photo frame state that it is niche product. It is perfect for me as teacher to have on my desk to show some of the excellent things that the class has been doing and then to print some special moments instantly! The kids are going to love this device! The offer of 144 free prints is great. There a huge hassles trying to get colour photos printed on the network printer, but now the students themselves can select which photos, taken by them with the class camera, to print at the push of a button. Too easy! Whilst others have criticed the deal because it is of no use to them, this is fabulous for me and my students, and I guess there will be others who will find creative uses for this product and its great price! And of course I've ordered one!

  • what's the max photo resolution it supports?

    • Hi it will support images up 12mp and photo printer is dye sublimation 300dpi, 16.7 million colours
